Our Ipsy Glam Bag Plus March 2020 Review

Here is our info card complete with all of our items.

Our bag this month is a mix of neon yellow, teal, and pale blush faux leather with envelope-style closure.

Now, on to the items!

The Coffee Scrub Coconut Body Scrub, 50 g - Retail Value $21.99

The first time you open this: beware! Tap the top a few times or prepare for coconut and coffee-scented explosion, complete with coffee ground confetti. This stuff literally looks just like coffee straight out of a bag and it is a pretty awesome exfoliator (although, messy!). The grounds themselves create a nice exfoliation buffing sensation while the coconut oil leaves your skin hydrated. I liked using this on my legs in the shower. It smelled really great and left them feeling silky smooth. This mostly made up for the rinsing I had to do to get all the leftovers out of my shower when I was done.

theBalm Cosmetics Autobalm GRL PWDR Cheek Palette - Full Size! Retail Value $26.50

I am a blush enthusiast, even though I am kind of ruddy naturally. There is something I just love about getting rid of all my natural redness with concealers and foundations then putting a better version of my rosy cheeks back on top, complete with a little extra shimmer! This is a set of three matte options in a peach, berry mauve, and warmer pink bronze. You can mix and match them and then even use the 5th shade to turn it into a shimmer finish. All arrive in a very cute compact!

Top to bottom: Houston St, Bourbon St, Bleeker St, and Fifth Ave

(MALIN+GOETZ) Revitalizing Eye Gel, 15 ml – Full Size! Retail Value $42.00

I tend to hoard eye creams because I am really concerned about my undereye skin and its tendency to be really, really dry. This was a new one for me, and I was interested in how it was more of a gel than a cream. This made application a breeze and also had a nice cooling effect. The included card suggests tossing it into the fridge for a little bit before application which added even more chill factor and depuffing power. The power players here are soy peptides that brighten skin, botanical extracts which soothe and soften, and diamond powder for some help evening out skin tone.

Seraphine Botanicals Luna Liner Water-Resistant Liquid Eyeliner, 2 g – Retail Value $18.00

Black eyeliner is a bit of a snooze product for me, but at least this one is from a brand I really like! It is a true black and has a thicker marker tip. It is water-resistant, vegan, and cruelty free!

Dark black, little bit of sheen.

Complex Culture Precision Concealer Brush – Retail Value $26.00

This is the 3rd or 4th brush I have gotten from this brand (all have been different!) and I absolutely love them! They are so gorgeous to look at and the brush heads are so fluffy and dense. They pick up and blend product like a dream. This brush is really unique because the head is a triangular wedge shape, perfect for applying makeup under your eye area with great coverage that also covers the little corners and crannies. I love how easy it is to create a soft and crease-free finish.

Yensa Super 8 Lip Oil in 'Pink Shine', 6.8 ml - Full Size! Retail Value $28.00

I have had a pretty good run with lip oils. They speak to my love of glossy lips while still looking super low-key. This one also is very nourishing, which is just another win. The sheer pink is downright lovely! The formula has a slightly sweet scent which is pleasant, and the finish is nonstick. I consider this a win.

Verdict: This box has a value of $162.39 which is awesome for a $25 box. That is a mighty good deal! There were some great items in my Plus Bag this month. My favorites? The blush palette, concealer brush, and the eye gel. I was less crazy about the coffee scrub and eyeliner, but the rest of the bag more than made up for those items, at least for me!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You'll likely start with March as your first month. As of publication, there was no Ipsy waitlist!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

So with everything going on…are we still getting boxes for April?!?

Reply ButtonReply

Tara W

Looks like we will. And pick your add-ons a few days early on March 30/31.

Megan K.

Hey Jamey! We will keep the site updated with any info we have about delays or cancellations.

I had a lot of trouble getting the lip oil open, this bag wasn’t bad and the eye cream and palette definitely made mine worth the money.

I had to really twist to get my lip oil open but once I did it was great.

Am skipping all my subscriptions for a few months. The salon I work at is closed.

Not sure if this has been mentioned already or not but I thought this could help anyone who hasn’t seen it. Ipsy is offering some add ons right now and if you order any item, you can get a free Mystery Bag Swag Keychain, free shipping. If you pick only the free keychain, they will charge shipping fee.

I am getting Ipsy envelopes from Ipsy every single day. One will have a full sized lip color, another the retail size of that 111Skin Vitamin C Brightening Booster ( I appreciate the gift but not using PRC products).

Eye shadow palettes, all these things and that’s in addition to items I ordered/ my GB, GBP and GPU x 4 accounts.
IDK what’s happening at the company, but it’s VERY SWEET <3

Tiffany Adair

What are you going to do with the 111skin product? I’ll trade you for it.

Reply ButtonReply

Amanda

I received a bottle of the 111Skin Vit C in my bag this month. Don’t know why, but I’ll take it!

Amy

I had a random second regular glam bag show up at my house today! Not my customizations at all, but actually had an item I was wishing I had gotten! Haven’t had the chance to figure out my online banking and make sure I wasn’t billed for it but it certainly brightened my day!! I’ll reach out to CS either way and let them know what happened

Legitimately waiting on 2 second round add-ons and a replacement of a damaged item so I was really surprised to open the envelope and have it be something unexpected! Hopefully it was a duplicate or something and the system didn’t accidentally send me someone else’s that they now will have to wait forever for.

I’m telling you, there’s something weird in their system. LOL. It’s like the computer HAL from ” 2001: A Space Odyssey” has taken control. 🙂

Still waiting for my GBP….

Loved my box this month – almost exactly yours:) but skipping April – I went and spent 26.00 on Elf – with their 60 percent off sale I got a load of skincare and makeup:)

Reply ButtonReply

Bon

There’s some kind of MENTAL BLOCK with me. I confuse Elf and Pixi every time I think of either brand. Gaah.

Alice

I loved my Plus!

I signed up for GBP 6 days ago because I really wanted this bag, but my confirmation email says that my bag will arrive April 10-30. This likely means my first bag is April, not this March one. Just FYI for anyone who signs up now that you might now get this one, either!

I reactivated vie their email link to me (unsubscribed several months ago), and it charged me for the base bag, so I deleted that and added the Plus. It is showing me receiving April. Just for anyone interested, seems that March availiability isn’t showing up.

Reply ButtonReply

MzBev

Not necessarily! You can email ipsycare to confirm, but with all that is going on, mail is delayed. You very well could be getting the March bag. It will just be delayed.

I was honestly underwhelmed with this month’s box.

I got the Day 2 Nite palette, and the shadows were more shimmery than I was expecting, which is fine as I prefer shimmery shadows.

I also got the concealer and brush. Love brushes and I tend to use brushes in ways other than what they’re named for. I generally do not use concealer and anything that’s anti-acne is wasted on me, since I thankfully do not get pimples any more.

Lip oils I’m indifferent to, as well as anything based in coconut

The eye gel I will probably like. I’m amused by the bare-bones packaging.

I maxed out on add-ons. mostly skin care.

If the coffee scrub is 50g, shouldn’t the value be lower? The 21 dollar size on their website is 200g.

Reply ButtonReply

Tara W

The coffee scrub is the sixth “bonus” item. Plus bags seemed to receive the scrub or the hemp lotion as their free item.

Reply ButtonReply

Kim H

Shouldn’t the value be 5-6 dollars for the 50g size? Or did people get the 200g in the plus? Because the review says 50g and 21 dollar value… is that just telling us what the cost of a full-size would be? I thought it was the value of what’s in the bag, but maybe I’m wrong.

HeatherF

Megan,
I do the SAME thing, get rid of my own redness and then add the blush I WANT with product. I’ve found Kokie’s yellow concealer to be aces.

I added on the blush palette and while I generally like The Balm’s products, none of these shades are right for me. I’m a much bigger fan of the Ofra blushes we recently got.

Jackie

The brush brand is an Ipsy house one, apparently. I do think these are nicer than some of the other house branded things they’ve had (looking at you Betty Boop).

Reply ButtonReply

Rose

Jackie, you are on the money with that terrible Betty Boop rubbish. I really don’t know why they thought it would be “fetch”, as I only read negative feedback for it (no offense meant towards the one Betty Boop fan). However, these brushes are fantastic quality, and I actually want them; that’s a first for a house-brand product.

Reply ButtonReply

Angela

I got the concealer sure would have been nice to get a brush I have tools on my quiz high up. Not thrilled with this months picks for me. I chose the Balm face palette as I love their blushes may skip next month depending on spoilers

Dea

That brush design is really cool. I am super-impressed with it. And the bristles feel so dense and comfortable. They really put thought into the design of this brush.

This month was a bit of a miss for me, but the brush and the eye gel made it worthwhile. I’m skipping April.

This was my first ever lip oil and strangely enough it seemed to dry out my lips some. Is this common for lip oils? I was really looking forward to it. So far I’ve used it alone and also on top of a balm. And so far I can’t get it to be that good. It might be just me. I was just wondering if anyone else experienced it to be drying?

Reply ButtonReply

Ingermaria

Lip oils dry out my lips too. I thought I was the only one, ha ha. They look so pretty, so I want to use them, but I’d have to keep reapplying every few minutes, ugh.

Karen

I like to wait until the box comes out and I get to try the products before I post anything. I don’t like all of the negativity based on the spoilers, then it seems like a lot more positive reviews when the boxes actually come out.

I got
Malin + Goetz eye gel. I love it, I’m 51 so bring on all the eye gels.
theBalm blush palette. I already had the Day2Nite eye palette so I was happy not to get that. I like it but the brown shade won’t work for me. I like the pink shade and the highlighter.
Hey Honey concealer. It’s my new favorite. It’s a great color match for me and it’s not very thick so it blends easily.
Complex Culture concealer brush. I love these brushes so much, I have 6 now. I can’t wait for the rest of them.
Billion Dollar Brows powder in Taupe. This is a great powder and I actually love the little brush that got so much hate. Goes on easy and looks natural.
Hempz sample size body lotion. It smells good in the bottle but I’m saving it for my travel bag. I have a full size Hempz in Chamomile & Wildflowers so I’m sure I’ll love it.

I can’t believe I got all of that for only $25. I also added on the Complex Culture foundation brush and eyeshadow brush, and the Awake lip mask. I’m excited for every item that I got, not a single one that I wouldn’t buy again.

Also the envelope style bag does fit my Kindle perfectly and I needed a Kindle case so that’s another win. All in all, 5 stars. I love my Ipsy GBP.

Jacki

This is almost my box. I got Hey Honey concealer instead of eyeliner. I love ❤️ 5/6 items! That’s amazing. I’m usually content with 2-3 good products. I’m sure the coffee scrub is a perfectly good scrub, but I can’t stand the smell of coffee. I really don’t have a favorite this month

Reply ButtonReply

Marion

Weird that they sent you the concealer brush, but not the concealer this month!

I haven’t tried the lip oil yet (I have too many open lip products already!), but I’ve heard that some people have had issues with the packaging (eg – the wand breaking off, the stopper not being included in the tube). Wondering if I should open mine in case I need to contact ipsycare about it. :/

Tiffany Adair

I got the brush w/o the concealer too

Reply ButtonReply

MzKayleeJames

I got the same bag but the brow pomade instead of the eyeliner…so no concealer here either. But I’m okay with that because I love the brush!
