California Found February 2020 Review

Instead of a booklet or pamphlet, California Found sends individual info cards featuring each item and giving some deets about the people and brands behind the products.

LB Love Organics Vanilla Mint Lip Scrub and Balm Set - Retail Value $11.15

I am all about nourishing lip goodies right now! I am a nervous (or bored) lip chewer, and it is such a bad habit. Combine that with this winter one day, spring the next weather and my pucker is looking rough. This set has a wonderfully smooth balm that feels like it just melts into your lips. Handmade in California, this formula contains coconut oil, beeswax, shea, olive oil, and essential oils. The scrub has a chunky sugar, coconut oil, beeswax, and vanilla and peppermint essential oils. It feels great on the lips and leaves behind moisture after you remove it.

New Growth Tendril Ring by Charming Little Lotus - Retail Value $45.00

Charming Little Lotus makes such gorgeous nature-inspired jewelry. Though this ring is a little pared down from the usual gems from this brand, it is kind of charming since it represents a tendril growing from a seed. How perfect for spring is that? As usual, I appreciate that most of the jewelry I have received from this subscription is sterling silver. This is a very nice and minimal little stacker that most fingers should be able to wear due to the adjustable design.

Hurry up, spring!

Miss Bee Haven Honey Reusable Beeswax Wraps - Retail Value $15.o0

I have actually wanted some of these for a while but never bought them. Cling wrap and tin foil are absolutely things I would like to cut down on using in my house. I feel like I am always buying more and then just throwing it away. These beeswax wraps are a wonderfully earth-friendly alternative and they are adorable to boot! The beeswax coating makes them clingy and flexible, but also easy to rinse off and reuse for up to a year if I maintain them properly! That is a lot of saved waste and money.

La Luna Salt Kitchen Bitch All-Purpose Seasoning, 8 oz - Retail Value $10.00

My husband Will is a spice snob and he loves a well-mixed all-purpose seasoning. I knew he would be into this blend! It is a mix of Himalayan pink salt, garlic, pepper, paprika, and fennel. It also enhances everything we have tried it on so far, namely mashed potatoes, veggies, steak, and eggs!

Indigo Candle Studio 'Sage & Lavender' Candle - Retail Value $12.00

Finally, our last item is a cute little candle. Historically, I love the candles I open from this box, and this is also a winner. The blend of lavender and sage is very fresh and clean, but wonderfully botanical too. I found the coconut wax base to burn slowly and evenly, and the scent wafted through my house without ever being too weak or too strong.

The Verdict: No surprise here, I loved my February California Found box. It is always such a nice mix of totally useable and treat-yourself items! This curation also felt very "spring refresh" appropriate with the clean smelling candle and beeswax wraps. Will loves his new salt and I am enjoying my smoother lips and ever-growing stacking ring collection. As always, I love that everything in this box is made by small businesses in California and that these items are created by people just like me with a passion for their craft. Can't wait to peek at next month!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I LOVE the name of the seasoning, and I am 1000% about to order some just for the name. Lol

I enjoy reading the reviews.. But I live in CA. So the appeal isn’t really here for me. I go to farmer’s markets in the summer time, easy to find a lot. Interesting though. I’d dig a New York box 😅

I was disappointed, when I compared this box to previous boxes that I loved. This box felt like it was missing an item. The ring looks cheap, at least on my 53 year old hands.

Not surprised that they’re going to a quarterly subscription. I think some other subs would be better this way.

Anyone know the price the seasonal subscription will cost?

Andi

There wasn’t a price noted in the email, so I’m assuming it will remain the same, and just be charged quarterly instead of monthly.

Pam

I had hoped that as well. Had emailed them a while back and was told the seasonal price was TBD. So curious if anyone had found out the price. I wish it would remain the same though!

bunnygirlbrem

There are only six items, not eight, so the average cost per item is $9.49. 🙂 Still nice!

Thank you for the catch! I have changed the wrap up to reflect the number of items! <3

I think she might be considering the beeswax wraps as individual pieces since you would each one separately.

MissJ

If that were true, then there would still only be 7 items.

Chris Hall

I received the Feb box also. I love it! I will definitely sign up for quarterly.

Good luck with that ring as it will catch on everything it comes in contact with.

Kelly

I was worried about that but I’ve been wearing mine for a week straight now and have had no issues. I honestly had more issues with the Robin Rhodes ring from a previous box. It caught on a lot of things!

They are now seasonal…quarterly so I don’t believe there is a March Box. I now may subscribe since they will be quarterly.

Andi

They have moved to a quarterly format based on a recent notice. I especially love the minimalist jewelry in their boxes, and can’t wait until the next box!

Thanks for the heads up, Andi! I am not sure if this one is still a monthly or the first of the seasonals. I will see if I can get some info!

The card says welcome to the February collection.
