Simply Earth Essential Oil Recipe Box Review
The first things I grabbed from the package were two cards with a note from Katie (the curator and aromatherapist behind this box!), a sneak peek for the December box, and all the info on the included oils this month. It also let me know that 13% of my purchase cost was donated to Night Light Bangkok, a non-profit dedicated to “holistic intervention and restoration for women, families, and communities affected by the global sex industry.” It makes me feel extra excited to support companies that give back and deliver awesome boxes.
Also included were 6 recipe cards and coordinating stickers to use on all my handmade items!
Botanical records show that Mandarin was cultivated in China as early as the 12th century BC. Mandarin Essential Oil can be used to soothe sore muscles, while its scent also has a relaxing and calming effect.
Who doesn’t love mandarin? It feels almost like a sweeter and less sharp orange, and I love using it in cleaning sprays made with water, vinegar, and essential oils.
Peppermint has always been popular as a flavor enhancer in food and drinks. Other than its distinct flavor, it also has a cooling effect and can help relieve head tension and aid in digestion.
I am not a huge peppermint fan. I know, I know, it is such a clean and wintery scent, but I just find it really overwhelming. I will say that this oil is super strong and seems very high quality, so if you are a peppermint enthusiast, you are going to be very happy!
Pine scotch is a popular choice in aromatherapy because of its soft scent. Pine scotch supports a healthier respiratory tract, improves circulation, and has a warm and soothing effect.
I absolutely love evergreen scents. This is the type of oil I reach for during the winter months instead of peppermint or festive food scents. This oil smells just like you would expect a pine scent to, but it has an earthier mellow element I really liked.
Our Candy Cane Essential Oil Blend is the perfect addition to make your home have that Christmas smell naturally!
This was another harder sell for me because it was just so minty! Instead of peppermint though, this is a spearmint, frankincense, and citrus blend. Though I did like it more with the addition of the complementing oils, this was still very, very minty!
As always, they have high-quality plastic dropper inserts inside.
I have yet to really dive into lip balm making, but these will be very handy when I do so.

Metal Tin with Clear Window
How pretty would it be to pour a coconut oil balm into this and garnish it with lavender buds?? Swoon.

I have had our home diffuser going nonstop all winter because Will has had a cold for at least forever it feels like. Though I don’t love minty aromas, I did decide this month that I would try out the Candy Cane Christmas Diffuser Blend. It combined that Candy Cane blend with some of that bright mandarin.
I will admit I added more mandarin than called for, but this worked out really well. I actually really liked this scent in the house, even with the mint. I will absolutely be experi-MINT-ing more this season.
This was a sample included this month in tandem with the launch of this new natural deodorant from the folks at Simply Earth. I have tried a ton of natural deos, and I am legitimately impressed with this one. The blend of lavender and ylang ylang was downright dreamy! If you aren’t into florals, don’t worry, they have different scents. If you are looking for a natural option, totally check this one out.
Verdict:Simply Earth was really festive for these winter months. Though I had reservations about all the mint inside this box, I did end up enjoying it more than I thought, and even I can’t deny it was perfect for the holidays. This box always has such a nice value for such high-quality oils and well-thought-out recipes. I also absolutely loved that new deodorant sample!

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.
Hi! I hope posting the code on here doesn’t violate any rules (if it does, please let me know and feel free to delete the post). The code for the $9.99 box is OZZYAFREE. I hope it works for you. Have a great week!
The big Bonus box that comes with your 1st box and every 6 months after that has a lot of what you need for the recipes. I have a promo code for someone to get their 1st box (along with the bonus box) for $10 including shipping if anyone is looking.
If it helps, here’s my experience with their projects:
I did their recipe for a “shower steamer” but, sadly, it didn’t work for me. I couldn’t make cubes out of the mix, just a crumbly powder. Undeterred, I sprinkled it on the shower floor but I couldn’t smell anything while showering. 😔
I’ve done their diffuser blends, roll ons and room spray recipes and those were big hits, although I had to add more oils than called for since I prefer stronger scents. I also had to adjust some recipes because I’m not a fan of overly citrusy smells. It’s very nice to be able to customize blends to your preferences. Overall, great projects! 👍

It’s too bad this doesn’t include ALL the ingredients to make the projects. I just wouldn’t go out to buy the extra ingredients. ☹️

It would be nice to see a review of the projects, instead of just the materials.
