FabKids (little sister brand to Fabletics and JustFab) is a monthly clothing subscription for boys and girls that allows you to shop in two ways - you can shop the regular store, or you can sign up for their VIP membership. VIP memberships work like this:

  • Take the FabKids quiz for your child (for multiple children you can add a kid) to note their size and style preferences.
  • Each month, FabKids releases a new collection and they will curate looks that match your child's preferences which you can view in their personalized Fabshop.
  • Shop those looks at 40% off what you’d get just paying retail, or skip the month. You have to make your decision by the 5th of the month. If you do neither, the $29.95 monthly membership fee will be saved to your account as a credit, which you can put towards other outfits later.
  • As you shop, you’ll also earn points that can be applied towards future purchases.

My Subscription Addiction paid for this subscription. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes).

FabKids Girls February 2020 Review

When you sign up they will ask you a few questions about your child: their name, age, clothing size, favorite weekend activity, and which outfit you prefer out of a few options. This helps to personalize your child's "Fabshop" each month. If you have multiple kids you are shopping for, there is an option to "add a kid."

This month I decided to try a different approach and put together a complete outfit for my daughter using a mix of clearance and regularly priced items. Each month they release new outfits and for a 3-piece outfit the range is about $32.95 up to $49.95 and none of those include shoes. Let's see if I was able to fare better by shopping for pieces individually!

Floral Butterfly Jumpsuit - Retail Value $36.00, VIP Cost $29.95 (currently on sale for $17.99)

The first item I saw that I knew she would love is this jumpsuit. I have always loved her in mint and she loves pink and butterflies, and oddly enough has an affinity for jumpsuits, so this was an easy one to decide on! It has adjustable straps and elastic at the hem of the pants so this jumpsuit can easily grow with her and doesn't look odd now that it is a little bit longer, as you will see later on. It has a cute decorative tie at the waist and features nice sized pockets, and we all know how important pockets are! I know a lot of people worry about children in jumpsuits and the ease with which they can use the bathroom, but my daughter is not yet in school and she doesn't seem to mind wearing them. Even so, I thought it would be a good idea to pair this with a T-shirt underneath to make it a more spring-friendly, and child-friendly outfit.

Fab Basic Scoop Neck, Size S (6/7) - Retail Value $20.00, VIP Cost $12.95 (currently on sale for $5.99)

This plain white tee looked like it would be a perfect fit for underneath the jumpsuit! It's very basic, lightweight and thin, but a little bit nicer than your typical cotton T-shirt.

Criss Cross Sandal, Size 1 - Retail Value $26.00, VIP Cost $19.95

My daughter has been talking about what she is going to do in the spring and summer since her favorite sandals broke towards the end of the season last year so I decided to surprise her with some white sandals that I knew she would love. They have a simple velcro strap at the back and are easy to slip on and off. I'm sure they will be dirty in no time since she lives in her sandals, but they will pair nicely with a lot of her clothing!

She is typically in a size 1 and has very wide feet so I wasn't sure how these would fit. You can see we are kind of pushing it here with the length! She is just about at the edge so I'm really hoping we can make these stretch through spring at least!

Pink Pom Panama Hat, Size XS/S - Retail Value $20.00, VIP Cost $14.95

This hat was not on sale, but my daughter doesn't have any hats really since she has outgrown a lot of her toddler accessories and I felt okay paying full price. I let her choose which hat since they had a few options and she loved this one with the pink pom poms. I think it's pretty cute, too! It is nicely made and they offer two different sizes. She has a smaller head and the smaller size works perfectly!

Here you can see the whole outfit together, complete with some of her silly faces for you at the end. I think that every piece works well together! The white tee underneath means she can wear this in early spring and I really think the hat completes the look! She loved the entire outfit and I'm sure it will take no time at all for her to start wearing it.

Here you can see the hat on her a little better. She didn't want to take it off!

Cozy Rose Jogger, Size S (6/7) - Retail Value $32.00, VIP Cost $24.95 (currently on sale for $12.99)

While this doesn't go with her outfit, I needed a little something extra to get to the free shipping minimum and since Liv loves comfy pants and pretty much always refuses jeans, I thought these would be a cute pair she could wear around the house. They have pockets and an elastic waist and are nice and soft inside.

They are a little tight at the cuffs and she had trouble fitting them over her wide feet, so I might have to stretch them out a bit to make them easier to get on. Other than that, the fit was great, a little baggy, but plenty of room to grow and thanks to the elastic waist, they aren't sliding down on her. They also worked with the white tee, which was surprisingly not see-through despite the light material!

The Verdict: I really loved the outfit I was able to put together for my daughter from FabKids this month and so did she! It was so nice to get the entire outfit including shoes and a fun accessory like that hat for her all in one shipment. While I didn't plan on purchasing the shoes when I started, I wanted to get the best value and I like to avoid paying for shipping at all costs so I decided to use some of the reward points in my account (which you earn every time you make a purchase or review an item- they can really rack up fast!) to add the shoes. Since there is both an import tax (3.75% to offset the increase in tariffs on goods from China) and sales tax which do not count towards the shipping minimum, your total can feel very high when you add the $6.95 shipping fee on top of that. While I don't have the exact numbers, I know that somehow I was just shy of the shipping minimum and so my total would have been $59 without the shoes, but after adding the shoes and using my rewards points for $15 off, my total was just $64.75 for everything which would normally retail for $134 ($102.75 VIP). I think I definitely fared better than the typical 3-piece outfit costs since my complete outfit included sandals, as well as an extra pair of pants, and I didn't have to pay for shipping! Plus, I think she looks pretty cute and stylish!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! As of publication, these pieces are currently available, but sizing is limited!

Value Breakdown: The total retail price for these 5 items is $134.00, but the VIP total is $102.75. That’s a VIP savings of about 23%, but by shipping the sales and using some of my rewards I only paid $64.75 (with taxes and shipping) which is a total savings of about 52%!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!
