Bonjour Jolie January 2020 "Happy New Year" Review

This month's Bonjour Jolie box theme is "Happy New Year" and they included this card which details all of the items we received in our box. Everything felt so festive this month! Especially the sparkly paper!

Let's start with the goods. All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that usually fits within our theme. This pattern looks straight out of the '90s to me!

When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.

Seventh Generation Ultra-Thin Overnight Pads (20) - Buy 28 for $7.99

You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products. I now use a menstrual cup during this time, but I like to have a little extra protection overnight, so I'm happy they had a choice that was free from dyes, fragrances, and chlorine for me.

Summer's Eve Cleansing Cloths in Simply Sensitive (2) - Buy a 2 pack of 16 for $7.95

They send cleansing cloths like these each month which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them to freshen up.

Advil To-Go Packs (2) – Buy 50 2-packs for $7.45

These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.

Dirty Little Secret Baked Highlighter in Prosecco – Retail Value $14.00

We have a pretty heavy champagne/sparkling wine theme this month, so our gift of this Dirty Little Secret highlighter in the shade Prosecco makes perfect sense! It is such a beautiful shimmery pink and I definitely think it could work as a blush and highlighter in one since it is so pigmented. The powder formula is very light and soft, yet buildable if you wanted more color.

Here it is swatched. If you have lighter skin like mine, you might want to use a light hand because it is definitely very pink.

Champagne Bubbles Bath Bomb, 5 oz. - Listed Value $7.00

This cute little bath bomb is in the shape of a champagne bottle. It has a bright perfume scent and has organic jojoba oil, shea butter, and cocoa butter as well as argan and avocado oil.

Martinelli's Sparkling Cider, 8.4 oz - Listed Value $3.00 (Found here for $1.49)

They couldn't exactly send a bottle of champagne, but this cute little bottle of sparkling cider is the next best thing!

The next few goodies came packaged together in this mesh bag.

Project 7 Champagne Dreams Gourmet Gummies, 2 oz - Listed Value $2.20 (Buy a pack of 8 for $17.59)

These gummy bears were a cute inclusion and they were pretty yummy, too! These Champagne Dream gummies come with both brut and rose flavors, although I didn't taste much of a difference between them. They were a tart, chewy treat and they come from a great company, Project 7. Each purchase of these gummy bears supports their mission to improve humanitarian aid around the world. Each of their products is tied to a specific mission which is pretty awesome! These treats are also gluten-free, non-GMO, and made with organic sweeteners and no artificial colors, flavors, or preservatives!

New Year's Champagne Treats Bottle - Listed Value $6.00

This cute little champagne bottle was filled with Jelly Belly champagne jelly beans and cute little "bubble" candies. They were surprisingly pretty for jelly beans and while I wasn't sure about the flavor at first, I could not stop eating these! These are listed as coming from LittlePartyDetails.com, but that search brought nothing up. The jelly beans did have the Jelly Belly logo on them though. Jelly Belly has a different version, which isn't quite as cute in my opinion!

This cute little bottle of bubbles wasn't listed on our card, and I'm sure the retail value is relatively low, so this feels like a fun bonus item to me!

Verdict: What a cute theme from Bonjour Jolie this month! I loved all of the sparkling wine/champagne touches, even as someone who doesn't personally enjoy champagne all that much! The box did feel a little light compared to past boxes and I was surprised to see that there were no tea bags this month, which is a first! Maybe they just forgot mine? A themed box always makes it feel a little more special to me and using a mix of listed and retail values, I did get a total of $37.20, which is pretty good for a $24.48/month ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) box!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

They didn’t forget the tea this month. They gave out a giant bottle of sparkling cider instead of tea this month. Their website doesn’t say you will always get tea in the box, it says tea or drinks. I thought it was a fantastic box and the theme was on point!

Thanks for confirming there was no tea this month! This is the first box I’ve received in over a year that didn’t have tea so I wasn’t quite sure!

I’ve been thinking about subscribing to this box, but the last two months have seemed a bit lackluster compared to the older boxes. Hmmm.
