Style Plan by Frank And Oak Review - October 2019

Style Plan by Frank And Oak is a clothing subscription for women and men from Canadian brand Frank And Oak who often uses recycled and organic materials coupled with eco-conscious methods to produce stylish clothes that you can feel good about wearing. Each month their stylists provide a selection of clothing, shoes, and accessories to choose from that fit your unique style. Once you receive the pieces you can keep what you like or return what you don’t with the $25 styling fee only being charged if you keep nothing.

My First Style Plan by Frank And Oak Review

Style Plan by Frank And Oak has new members fill out a quick style profile that captures your sizing, style, and other preferences. (You can update your profile at any time if your taste changes.)

If you have any immediate clothing needs, you can let the styling team know up to three items (like hats, dresses, outerwear, etc) you’re looking for and they’ll do their best to suggest items relevant to what you requested. In your account, they clearly state when your Style Plan box will be ready and you have a few days to make any changes.

You’ll get an email from Style Plan by Frank And Oak as soon as your personalized monthly picks are ready. Three items will be auto-selected based on your preferences, but you can choose other items from your monthly options, edit the sizes they’ve picked for you, or deselect items so that your order fits your budget and needs. The best part is that they’ll waive the $25 styling fee on your first order if you weren’t satisfied.

FYI: Style Plan by Frank And Oak had some shipping delays this month due to high volumes and enhancements to their system, so my shipment came much later than expected. They did send subscribers an email update along with a $15 discount on their next Style Plan order.

Let’s get to my items!

Marne wearing Good Cotton Gym Crewneck in Navy

Good Cotton Gym Crewneck in Navy, size medium – Retail Value $69.50, Member Price $62.50

This is straight-up the softest sweatshirt I own. I’ll be honest- I have this exact sweatshirt in dark green that I purchased in a store in Toronto so I already knew my size but wanted it in a second color. I wore the green one recently and my crush complimented it saying that it looked so comfortable but wasn’t too oversized and had the perfect fit. I have to agree! This incredibly cozy sweatshirt is made with 80% organic “good cotton” (responsible cotton grown and harvested with sustainable methods) and 20% polyester. The sleeves are slightly long on me, but as you can see in the pic, I think it looks cute rolled up a bit too. I just adore the raglan cut and the inside is ridiculously soft.

Marne wearing The Boy Tee in Light grey

The Boy Tee in Light Grey, size medium – Retail Value $29.50, Member Price: $27.50

This tee is just fantastic. Heather grey is my go-to color but this one is more like a cream/dove grey with dark grey speckles. It’s made of 60% cotton and 40% polyester which gives is a soft feel and a good fit without being too heavy. I love the way this fits, especially the slightly longer short sleeve. I am very much a basic jeans and tee sort of gal so this is a perfect staple to my wardrobe and the quality is much better than some others I have.

The Grant Tapered Pant in Black, size 14 – Retail Value $89.50, Member Price $82.50

Okay- I have no idea what I was thinking, getting these in a size 14, because I am swimming in them. I took a gander at the size chart and saw the waist size and went off of that. Pants are all over the place on me and I have 29s-31s so I thought I’d go with the larger size just in case because I have wider hips and a big booty that sometimes doesn’t fit into the correct waist size. I should have trusted my gut and went with the size 10 on these which would probably fit me much better, but now I know! There is always a learning curve for me when trying out new brands online but it always leads to a better fit in the end. The good part is, I’m not required to keep them!

    • Marne wearing Blanket Scarf in Grey mix

Blanket Scarf in Grey Mix – Retail Value $49.50, Member Price $44.50

It is currently 39 degrees in the great city of Pittsburgh and lucky for me I am now prepared with this enormous blanket scarf! I am an avid collector of giant scarves and when I saw this in my Style Plan choices in my favorite color (grey), I knew I had to check it out. The scarf is made of 80% polyester and 20% wool which means it’s more soft than scratchy. It has a width of nearly 2 feet with fringe on either end and is almost 7 feet long! This will make the perfect accessory for cold weather walks or bundling up over at a friend’s house.

Look at how BIG this baby is! I love it!

Verdict: My first Style Plan by Frank And Oak delivery mostly worked out, but I am confident I have a better handle on my pant size now. I am simply in love with the sweatshirt, tee, and scarf I received and appreciate that I was able to choose the items that were sent from a large group of stylist’s picks. I can be really fussy when it comes to my clothing. Even though I prefer simple pieces that I can mix and match with each other, having the control to make choices makes me more likely to keep the items that arrive.

      To Wrap Up:

Can I still get this box if I sign up today? Each Style Plan by Frank And Oak box is catered to your own preferences so you’ll most likely have different options than me. The good news is that you can sign up for your own Style Plan to see what the styling team will pick for you!

Value Breakdown: The retail price for the three items I received this month is $238.00, but the member price is $217.00. That’s a saving of $21.00 for this particular box.

      1. I saw size 14 and thought what was she thinking, then I read your comment.

      2. The prices seem extremely high for such basic items you can get anywhere.

        • Agree! 70 bucks for a sweatshirt. Hanes makes a supersoft and thick sweatshirt for 30.

      3. I love everything you received, but the prices seem astronomical! Where are the items made?
