Well, I didn’t get off of the Boxy Premium, which saved only about one tenth of what I just spent as a Rouge member. However, I am so happy getting the Mothership palettes that I was missing, plus two of the holiday quads, some of Patrick Ta’s new line, a few extra brushes, that honestly, I think I’m just going to go ahead and cancel the waitlist and BC and BoxyLuxe. That adds up. They are doing a horrible job of adding variants at the very last minute, their customer service takes even longer to respond, and they are making millions upon millions, if not billions. I’ll keep that money and enjoy the hauls that I indulged in today. Every time they roll out something new, there are never enough to go around or the site crashes. I cancelled Beauty Fix, Allure, New Beauty Test Tube, Ipsy Plus, and another one or two that I cannot recall. Cancelling all of the Boxy Charms will actually leave me with money left over to donate to charities. I feel like not getting off of the wait list was actually kind of the push that I needed to let go of BC.

Totally. I’m going to take that money I saved by cancelling Allure and throw it at some starving African kids.

Is anyone else disappointed the VIB discount is only 15% now? It used to be 20% like Rouge. Seems like they keep devaluing their rewards program….
I also have never liked that the discount is a code you have to use. Keeps you from using codes to get gwp. I think I’ll just be shopping Ulta from now on…..

This year Sephora actually lost a lot of my business because of this discount change. I didn’t see any benefit being a Rouge member before (even though I was for years), since it was so close to VIB benefits. Now neither tier makes any sense. Many brands are offering 20% off (and even 25%) of their whole website right now with no strings attached. I moved as many of my purchases over to other stores as I could (l’occitane, dr. jart+, skindinavia…), even though my friend let me use her 20% Sephora discount today. I agree that the program got devaluated, 15% off is not competitive in the market right now. Don’t get me started on all the points I’ve accumulated at Sephora with nothing worth while to spend them on. I used to be a very loyal shopper, anything I could buy at Sephora over another store, I would. Not anymore.

It might be worth saving your points, because beginning in January Sephora is supposedly changing their rewards system to be more like Ulta’s where you can exchange your points for $$$ off your purchases… and from what I can tell, not by purchasing gift cards like they’re doing now, but immediately like how Ulta does it. This is good news to me, because I rarely use my points since I never see any samples I want to redeem them for (and I don’t even bother trying for the $100 gift card since they “sell out” in seconds)… in face, I checked my account, and I only redeemed 300 points for three different samples this whole year! I’m excited to see what the rewards changes will be, so I’ll be holding onto the rest of mine just in case. 😉 I hope they do higher & more frequent point multipliers too next year.

With all due respect, VIB status is given at 350, while Rouge is 1000. That’s a big difference, so I definitely feel like I deserve an extra five percent, which amounts to such a paltry amount, maybe five extra dollars if each tier spent 100. Believe me, if you spent 1000 vs 350, you would feel differently. At Ulta, I am Diamond, which actually gives many more extras compared to Sephora’s Rouge. I’m tempted to start shopping at Ulta much more, if only they had more brands.

“I’m rich and your aren’t, so I deserve more stuff.”

Also, Ulta is HUGE compared to Sephora. How many more brands could they possibly carry?

Mary

But the question is why Sephora chose to reduce the VIB discount (from 20 to 15) rather than increase the Rouge discount to 25%. I’m comparing my VIB discount this year to my discount last year, not to the Rouge discount. That’s why VIBs feel devalued.

LB

I told myself I didn’t need anything this round. But the deals on the manufacturer’s holiday kits/sets or the Sephora sets plus the 20% discount is just too much for me to pass up. Ugh. Spent way too much already.
