CHC Vintage Outfit November 2019 Review

This subscription is customized based on your size and preferences from a survey you fill out after subscribing, so everyone receives something different each month. But that’s part of the fun! Let’s see what I received this month:

There is usually a handwritten card with some styling suggestions. The level of detail just gives me the feeling that the people at CHC Vintage are really excited by what they do. They wrote October in the card but this was the November shipment as far as I can tell. An easy mistake to make, I guess, especially if they are thinking about what to send me in advance.

I find that my preferences are really listened to, as well. I don’t wear shorts or super short skirts and what I received this month (see below) is definitely a length that works for me.

Vintage Sweater and Skirt

I realized after we took these photos that I hadn't tried tucking in the sweater, but I did Google what was suggested in the card and the French tuck look isn't really doing anything for me. I think it might work better with a non-banded waistline on the sweater?

Speaking of the sweater, I'm not really sure what to say about it. It is in good shape and it is the right size (maybe a little big, the tag says M and my shirt size is usually S or XS, although it can be OK for sweaters to be a little bulky). It is an interesting look. I have a few older female relatives who may very well have worn something like this back in the day but it is also not out of place for this Google image search.

I see more possibilities for the skirt. It has an elastic waistband and I did manage to get it over my hips and it wasn't too tight. It is lightweight fabric so could be worn in any season (just add tights for winter). I'm trying to decide what color of shirt to try with it next. (I don't do neutrals so don't say white or tan, please! Maybe gold -- like autumn leaves, not something shiny, I mean.)

Vintage Beaded Purse

Here is a better look at the purse. The chain moves so you can choose two different lengths, one of which works for slipping it over your shoulder. Here also is the inside. This is in great shape for something this old. And I think the color is wonderful for winter. (Please pay no mind to my days-old Halloween manicure.) You can also see a bit of a closer look at the sweater in the top photo here.

Verdict: I am getting a better sense of what to expect with the CHC Vintage Outfit subscription. I said I was open to outfits from different decades and I have really gotten items originating in the 1940s through the 1990s. Everything has been in wonderful shape (this month included) and all the bottoms have been a length I was happy with (I don’t wear shorts or super short skirts). This month's top was interesting for sure. It is a bold look although not the type of bold look I typically wear (this subscription does sometimes take you out of your comfort zone). The skirt is more standard and light enough that I can wear it in summer or winter (with tights). The purse was in really good shape and is large enough to hold a few essentials on an evening when I don't want to lug around my usual purse. I do kind of hope for more bright colors in the future.

This is really a interesting box. Do they tell you the age of each piece? I love that sweater! I’m gong to have to research this box I’m intrigued.

I honestly think you look quite elegant in the outfit. This is a look you’d wear on a cold dark evening in a comfortable low-key bar having a drink by candlelight. I’d also recommend wearing the sweater with a nice fitted pair of jeans with an ankle bootie for a nice girls day out look. The skirt is a nice length maybe pair with a colorful tank and chunky open cardigan for a warm fall look. You have some great possibilities with think selection and a beautiful natural classic look, enjoy

A gold shirt would definitely give the skirt some autumnal & holiday vibes. I think a light yellow-green shirt might work in the springtime.

Light yellow-green is like the one color I can’t wear. It reflects off my skin and makes me look unwell. It’s too bad, because it’s generally a color I like and I have a whole lot of beads in matching shades with which to make myself some accessories.

I would think maybe jewel tones would look good with skirt! Give it a really fall look!
