Monthly XIO Bag October 2019 Review

The theme of this month’s box is “October Moon Magic,” featuring five mystic pieces that totally live up to this month’s theme.

On the back of the info card, XIO lists each item featured as well as what each accessory is made of and its retail value. Each piece is made up of 925 sterling silver, and the gold pieces are plated 925 sterling silver.

Celestial Bangle – Listed Value $38

Here is a XIO bangle that I can definitely get behind. I’ve complained before about receiving just one bangle from this subscription, but this one has just enough detail to sway me. There is a romance to the CZ encrusted star and moon almost meeting in the middle; I just love it! This thin metal is pliable enough to fit nearly any sized wrist, and it doesn’t feel as fragile as some bangles tend to.

Crystaline Lariat – Listed Value $55

Typically I am not a long necklace or lariat kind of girl, but this accessory just screams “layer me with everything!” It is simple, but the subtly chic CZ details make this an accessory you can really pair with any other necklace. That being said, I probably wouldn’t wear this classic Y shape alone, because it plays more of a supporting role, rather than taking the spotlight for itself. This necklace reaches halfway down my chest at its longest, but XIO includes a 3-4 inch extender on each of their necklaces so you can achieve the look you are going for.

Moondust Ring – Listed Value $45

I am over the moon for this ring! Cheesy, but true! Right now it is like a forbidden apple since I am so swollen I can’t wear any of my rings, even this gorgeous adjustable ring could never recover from the damage that would do, haha. Out of all the recurring crescent moons in this box, the one on this ring is the blingiest, hence, it is my very favorite. It will also match perfectly with XIO’s Large Crescent Moon Necklace that was featured in November 2018’s XIO bag!

Stellar Studs – Listed Value $30

I really like how the curator decided to venture off and choose a set of coordinating earrings. I am all about mismatching studs, especially when they are this beautiful. I can’t help but think of Game of Thrones’ Daenerys and Khal Drogo’s pet names for each other ‘Moon of my Life’ and ‘My Sun my Stars,’ which makes me like them even more. They both gleam with textured metal and cubic zirconias, and this month XIO decided to pair each with a rubber earring back. I rave about these things; they are much more user-friendly and comfortable than the traditional butterfly backings, so I am loving this improvement!

Luna Necklace – Listed Value $55

I am very into this starry moon charm. It is a gorgeous centerpiece for any other necklace you choose to layer around it; all eyes will be fixed on this beauty! This style is a little different from all the other necklaces I’ve received from XIO, and I love the moonchild vibes it is giving me. I think this will definitely be a new staple piece for me, and it will be easy to incorporate with all my other delicate jewelry.

I love wearing my coordinating pieces from XIO

The Verdict: Monthly XIO Bag’s witchy Moon Magic theme fed my need for celestial jewelry this October; what a perfect month to bust out these enchanting charms! This month I received 5 accessories, which brings each piece down to $14—a great value! I love XIO’s jewelry, and the last two months have been two of the best curations yet!

  1. I mean, I don’t know what a good deal this is when you can also buy these on Aliexpress. I found the ring for 88 cents just searching star moon ring. The full title is New Fashion Ring Moon & Star Dazzling Crystal Rings for Women Girls Jewelry Open Finger Ring Wedding Engagement Jewelry Gift.

    • You can’t buy these items on Aliexpress. You might find similar looking items, but the items on Aliexpress are junk made from base metals. These are solid sterling silver or sterling silver plated with gold, depending on the style you choose. I was subscribed from the first box 12/2018 until 8/2019. I had to cancel due to financial problems, but would like to resubscribe when I can afford it.

      • There’s a long thread on reddit matching both Xio & Kathleen’s jewelry with the ones on Aliexpress, and there’s another online. They are identical even down to one that had a mistake in spelling that appeared on one of Kathleen’s horoscope pieces. There’s also an online jewelry store that sells pieces that look like Xio pieces. I’m assuming they all get them from the same factory.

      • The Lights Label piece you are referring to is made of base metal and is costume jewelry. It is not sterling silver and Kathleen never claimed it or any of her pieces were sterling silver. It is possible Aliexpress ordered pieces from the same factory. Xio pieces are different. They are sterling silver. It is possible that Aliexpress is copying Xio designs. It is also possible that they are showing pictures from Xio, but if you ordered the piece you would get something quite different. I know that happens all the time on Wish. I have never ordered jewelry from Aliexpress. Did any of these people on Reddit?

    • Well I agree that this stuff just looks like junk to me. I don’t wear this kind of fake bling jewelry – but some people can pull it off well, and it’s just a question of what you like. Also sometimes it’s surprising how a cheap piece of jewelry can be cute. I’m still wearing an ultra cheap FFF necklace from a year or more back that actually looks pretty good, so you never know.

      • Again this is not fake bling jewelry. Everything is either solid sterling silver or sterling silver plated with gold. You should not be comparing it to costume jewelry from FFF or Aliexpress. Go to any mall or department store and see what sterling silver jewelry of this quality sells for. I loved this subscription when I received it and will subscribe again when I can.

      • The ends of the moon on the ring in the review look smooth while they seem to have an inlaid design on Aliexpress. I don’t think they are the same ring, just the same design.

  2. LOVE this!
