Scentbird October 2019 Review

This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:

Scentbird October 2019 Booklet Front

Scentbird October 2019 Booklet Back

There was what is basically an advertising flyer for this month’s scent, “Gia” by Tocca.

Scentbird October 2019 Tube Front

Scentbird October 2019 Fragrance

Gia by Tocca - Estimated Value $12.16 (buy 50 mL for $76)

Scents of the month can be hit or miss for me but this one was right up my alley. Base notes include amber, sandalwood, and vanilla, which are three of my favorites (especially sandalwood). Mid notes include rose which is probably my favorite floral note. Top notes include pink peppercorn, which I also usually like, and tangerine, which isn't super apparent on me. (People on Fragrantica seem not to like this one so much, but what's more important is that I like it!)

This lasted an average length of time (probably wouldn't have hurt to reapply in the middle of the day but I have enough going on that I rarely remember to do that) and if applied in reasonable proportions, sillage is such that my coworkers aren't annoyed. I have actually worn this to work several times since I received this package.

FYI, this is a new fragrance (launched just this year). Scentbird's "scent of the month" is generally something fairly recent, which I appreciate.

Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $12.16. This is a little below the cost of the subscription but I am always happy to receive a scent that works for me, even if it costs a little less -- there is value in the match-up for me, and less risk than buying a full-size bottle you haven't sampled first. If you want to maximize value, all you have to do is add more expensive fragrances to your queue.

Please note: Some MSA readers have been having trouble getting their Scentbird shipments on time lately so be sure to read the comments on some of the past reviews to get a sense of what the issues are when making the decision to sign up.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.

Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $12.16 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).

I love this I joined about 4 months ago and every time I’m down to the last spray it seems I have the next in my mail box like clockwork once I got one where the sprayer nozzel was messed up and they sent out another right away I have also gotten little samples a few times of scents I had never thought to tried but I prefer the more musky scents like Kat von D’s sinner and they sent out a similar different scent I also like

My shipments have always come near the end of the month, but they’ve always been delivered reliably since I joined about 6 months ago. And it’s easy to skip, change the frequency of deliveries, manage your subscription, etc. I’ve been pleased overall.

I have been waiting on this review so I could post about my awesome experience with them! After reading your reviews for months I decided to go for it. I am super new to subscription boxes (I got my first one in September from Birchbox and have become addicted.) I used the buy one month get the second month free code.

After choosing my first scent (Narcisco Rodriquez for Her Eau de Parfum, I smelled it in a magazine insert once and have been longing for it ever since) I started perusing their website. I immediately signed up for the two item plan and added a moisturizer from Joanna Vargas. Then I immediately upgraded to the three product option! I got the Purlisse Blue Lotus 4-in-1 Cleansing Milk. All of their skincare and other products are FULL SIZED and it is only $10 more per extra item. So my three items a month plan is only $35!

Now, some premium items do have an up-charge. For instance, my moisturizer was an additional $10. But that means I only paid $20 for a full size Joanna Vargas product that retails at Nordstrom and Macy’s for $75. That is an amazing deal to me.

I could not believe the selection of products they had! With the three a month plan (or the two a month plan) you can choose to receive all fragrances or one fragrance and two products, or two fragrances and one product, or three products. And you can choose to either be surprised by the scent of the month or you can choose exactly what you want.

What really got me was that you can fill up your queue for like the next two years! Then you can do what I did and sit on there for way too long and change things around! LOL It is so addictive and fun. I promise I have absolutely nothing to do with this company, I had never heard of them before this website but I am just in love with it! I couldn’t wait to get on here and leave my comment and share. They also have a great app that I spend way too much time on changing my queue around!

Anyway, I will quit gushing now, but I just wanted to add my two cents. I have already received by first box (only took a little over a week) and can’t wait for the next! Thank you for your reviews every month or I might never have discovered this.

I learned more from this one comment than reading every review so far. Let me sum up this months review…. I got a scent in the mail it smelled good and they come to me for free for doing nothing…. Contrast that to the above talking about products mixing and matching pricing building a cue etc…
