Meena Meets Her Match was a new reading experience for my daughter. Typically, there's a lot of positivity around the main character. It's usually the one that you find the most relatable, the good guy, the person you cheer for and are most invested in. My daughter didn't entirely care for Meena and her antics but also expressed a lot of empathy towards Meena, her loneliness, and her illness. To date, Meena has been the most realistic character my daughter has encountered. Her character demonstrates that no one is perfect and that we all have our flaws and that flaws don’t make you a bad person.

Since this book was just below my daughter’s reading level, she was able to read it independently and quick for a chapter book. She flew through the first three chapters of Ivy and the Goblins, stopping to giggle and speculate about what’s in the egg even though it was clear from the title and the pictures that it was a goblin. I think that when reading a more challenging book, it takes a little away from the story. But, since she could easily read and follow this story, she was able to simply enjoy the silliness.

Verdict: The Prime Book Box comes in its own specially-designed book box featuring fun, kid-friendly characters. It’s very cute and my daughter gets excited when this box is delivered because she knows it’s just for her. This month’s selections were both awesome, engaging and age-appropriate.

Meena Meets her Match and Ivy and the Goblins could not be more different! Meena’s story is one of a complex child dealing with real-life struggles with friendship, pride, and illness. The subject and reading level was a little more mature than what my 8-year-old would typically read. Ivy’s story surrounds a challenging little goblin. The reading level was a little below where my daughter is now but super fun to read. Both were awesome stories in their own way, and both are highly recommended.

Amazon says: "Prime Book Box saves you up to 40% off List Price, and is always an equal or better value than Amazon's everyday low prices. In the event that the books in your box are available from Amazon.com for less than $19.99 at the time your order is placed, you'll receive the lower price automatically.”

The cost of the Prime Book Box is $19.99 has a listed value of $34.98. The retail value is $23.30 – the cost of purchasing the books directly from Amazon at this time of this review. This box represents over 40% savings off list price and is a better value than Amazon’s prices at the time of this review. I did, however, notice that the retail value for the last few boxes was around the same and those boxes were price adjusted to $16.99. When considering just the sale prices of this month's box is $20.69 and the cost of the box $19.99, it's not a great deal.
