October 2019 MoonBox “Refine” Review

MoonBox sends out an info guide every month describing the featured items included in the box as well as instructions on how they should be used. It also gives a general overview of the major cosmic events happening this month. This month has a New Moon in Libra; I love the way MoonBox describes this time of year, so I’ll just reiterate it here, “…all that has grown, or perhaps even overgrown, starts to shed and fall away.” I love the imagery that brings, and looking inward, it really hits the nail on the head. October is a great month, so hopefully, this month’s box reflects that!

Wooden Lunar Calendar/Collectible Crystal Card

Every month MoonBox includes a stylish wooden lunar calendar with the featured collectible crystal card on the back.

From Molly with Love Beauty Oil, 1 oz – Listed Value $15.99 (Buy a 2 oz bottle here for $32.99)

This beauty is chock full of antioxidants and vitamins, not to mention it is also anti-bacterial and non-comedogenic. It is made up of sunflower, jojoba, and rosehip seed oils with sandalwood, rose and jasmine extracts as well. The only oil I can use on my sensitive face without an issue is rosehip oil, so I mixed this oil in with my body lotion. I can mostly pick up the pleasant rose scent, which does not linger for long. I used 3 droppers with a few pumps of lotion for my whole body, and it made my skin feel very soft, although it took a little bit to sink in.

East Forest x Ram Dass CD – Retail Value $14

Oddly soothing and relaxing is how I would describe this CD. I am usually too impatient to listen to spoken word or anything too self-helpy, but this is easily something I could listen to as background noise to relax. The music varies with each track, but Ram Dass’s voice remains true throughout. He preaches positive vibes and love, two messages I can certainly get behind.

Love by Luna Sun & Moon Decals – Retail Value $8

I grew up using nail tattoos all the time, and although they can be frustrating to apply, I still love them! The designs from Love by Luna are fun and easy to apply. You first apply two coats of cream polish (they suggest white in the directions), and then after your nail color dries, you can cut out the design you want, peel off the protective clear sheet, and apply, sticky side down, on your nail (carefully! because you will have a hard time adjusting it once you’ve laid it down). When you’re ready to apply, just hold a wet paper towel down for 10 seconds, peel the paper off from your nail and boom! Fun nails! If you need to, you can smooth the tattoo down with your finger, and then add a few coats of your favorite clear top coat.

You can see the film left around my design, so I’d recommend trying to cut the tattoos out as closely as possible. And I hope you don’t mind the close up of my swollen fingers!

Shakti Healing Space Chakra Card Deck – Retail Value $11

If you were ever curious about the Chakra System and its 7 components, these colorful cards really break it down for you. They are very easy to read and understand, and I love the different aspects they touch on, which ranges anywhere from which parts of the body are affected by each Chakra to which crystal could help to bring balance. This would be a fun gift to anyone just getting into this subject, even though I feel the retail price is a little inflated for 8 cards.

Pink Tourmaline in Quartz: For healing emotional wounds; promotes passion and cultivates all love. Associated signs: Libra, Virgo, Taurus

This stone is so interesting to look at; I love the pearly pink ribbons throughout it. Pink tourmaline is the earth’s embodiment of love, and to be wrapped around a quartz stone… well that just amplifies all of the good feels! Starting with self-love stretching to all the love you can feel for a complete stranger, this stone helps to center heart chakra alignment and refinement.

The Verdict: I really enjoyed this month’s MoonBox! I will definitely be using each item this month, which makes this box a keeper for me. I was surprised to see a CD in this month’s box, and I was also surprised that I am enjoying it so much. Receiving a luxe crystal each month that ties the box together ups the value of this box for me as well as the stylish wooden calendar I proudly display on my vanity each month.
