Laurel & Reed September 2019 Review

Laurel & Reed gift box inside cardboard box with info card on top

Your box will ship in a plain outer box to preserve the lovely ribbon.

There's a card which simply states all of the things you can expect from the subscription and another info card that features a lovely print on one side (this time looks like a gold foil mask close up) with the items clearly listed out with retail prices and short descriptions on the other.

Captain Blankenship Golden Waves, 4 oz. - Retail Value $28.00

I actually received this same sea salt spray in a box a few months back and was not really feeling it. Since then, I've warmed up to salt sprays so I'm kind of excited to see this again. Captain Blankenship makes a clear salt spray with the same ingredients, but this one has added natural gold mica to give your hair a slight sparkle. If I spray this onto a blank sheet of paper, the gold is quite prominent, but for the life of me, I cannot see it in my hair. Maybe that's for the best? Anyhow- this gives my hair more body by drying it out which doesn't feel all that great, but it certainly looks good!

Cocovit Coconut Water Hydro-Mist, 1 oz. - Retail Value $16.00

Speaking of beach hair- this coconut water facial mist calls summer to mind as the season putters out to give way to fall. To be used as a toner after cleansing or simply to give your skin a little moisture boost during the day, this is made with all-natural ingredients like coconut and aloe vera water, witch hazel, honeysuckle flower extract, and essential oils. This feels refreshing and smells great!

Etre Bien Amethyst Body Elixir, 1 oz. - Retail Value $28.00

Eeeeep- what a pretty item! I'm a sucker for anything with crystals soaking in it and this beauty oil comes with amethyst chards that can be kept long after the product has been used up. Meant to be used on the body for a hydrating glow, this oil contains simple ingredients grapeseed oil, organic sunflower seed oil, organic camellia seed oil, and GMO-free Tocopherol, along with the unmistakable scent of lavender with patchouli and sandalwood. It absorbs nicely into the skin leaving softness and suppleness behind. I'll be using this on my dry legs this winter after shaving.

Wabi-Sabi Botanicals Formule Intensif No. 4, 10 mL - Retail Value $36.00

The last item this month is from fun-to-say brand, Wabi-Sabi. They make several serums with this one being the 4th in the series. Concentrated Omega-9 and squalane sound great, but I found this serum to be too sticky for me to love. After massaging around between warm hands, it thins out a little but I'm still left with what feels like watery honey. Although the benefits here are leaving my skin ridiculously hydrated, I just can't get into the consistency. 🙁

The Verdict: This month Laurel & Reed sent four products with golden-hued bottles that all look fantastic on a shelf. For me, the body oil and shimmer spray came out on top while the serum didn't do it for me and the coconut water spray was refreshing but not game-changing. The retail value of the box is $108.

Too many summery things for a September box I think.
