Jeffree Star Halloween Premium Mystery Box Review

Lip Ammunition in Brown Sugar, 0.12 oz - Full-Size! Retail Value $18

This was my first time trying out the Lip Ammunition lipsticks, and Brown Sugar is an absolutely gorgeous light bronze glitter shade that can be worn both on its own or as a topper, and the shade blends really well with various lip liners to get a unique, yet beautiful, color. This doesn't have the same staying power as the liquid lipstick formula, but it was very comfortable to wear and worth reapplying mid-day or after eating.

Velour Liquid Lipstick in Soul Sucker, 0.19 fl oz - Full-Size! Estimated Value $18

This was the exclusive shade made only for the mystery boxes, and it definitely has Halloween vibes. It is a black liquid lipstick with large chunks of glitter, and I was a bit disappointed that when I applied it to my lips, it was patchy. Luckily, the velour liquid lipsticks are also safe to be used as an eyeliner, which you can see below.

Here I am wearing it.

Velour Liquid Lipstick in First Class, 0.19 fl oz - Full-Size! Retail Value $18

This is a pure metallic gold lipstick that absolutely does not look good on its own as a lipstick on me. Luckily, it can be used as both a shiny eyeliner or blended in the center of your lips for a pretty holiday season lip look.

Here it is on me by itself.

And from top to bottom, here are the three lipstick shades.

Mini-Breaker Eyeshadow Palette - Retail Value $28

Oh, helllooooo gorgeous! I was so excited to open this box up and see that an eyeshadow palette was included. This was my first time trying out the Jeffree Star eyeshadows, and I was excited about the vivid, gorgeous shades here. Jeffree Star probably isn't for you if you don't like playing with color (especially in a mystery box from him), but as an LSU fan living in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, I wear more purple eyeshadow than your average attorney. I found the shades Foreplay and Bubblegum to both be a bit chalky, but my heart is in love with Oral, a purple duochrome with a blue shift. Other than the two mattes, the pigments were vivid and blended out well

eye swatch

Here are the swatches on my arm.

look 1

Here I am wearing Brown Sugar on my lips with a nude-pink lip liner, and the shades Oral on my inner lid and Bite Me on the outer corner, with a dab of Slice in my inner corner to add a spark of gold for an LSU-themed look. I also used Oral on my lower lashline. In this look here, I am not wearing mascara to give you a better view of these gorgeous colors.

look 2

Here it is with some slight changes. I grabbed a deep mauve lipstick and applied that to my lips and then blended First Class into the middle (which is something I am not very good at, but I continue to try). You only need a tiny bit, and I used my finger to blend it into the other lipstick stage by pat, pat, patting the colors together. I also took an eyeliner brush and applied Soul Sucker as an eyeliner, and I loved that the glitter is noticeable without being over the top.

look 3

Here is the same look as above, but with mascara to finish the look.

The Verdict: This was my second mystery box from the Jeffree Star Cosmetics line, and I thought it was a fun box of color! Brown Sugar is a lipstick I could actually see myself purchasing in the future, and while the Mini-Breaker palette has some colors I will maybe never use, it also has a few I have used multiple times already just brushed onto my lid instead of in an involved, multi-shadow look. The value in this box is there too, with a total estimated value of $82

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? No, this is now sold out. Mystery boxes are offered a few times a year, so stay tuned for the round!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $49 ($40 + $9 shipping) and I calculated an estimated total value of $82. That means you're paying approximately the following per item:

  • Brown Sugar: $10.75
  • Soul Sucker: $10.75
  • First Class: $10.75
  • Mini-Breaker: $16.73

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

I may try the mini … you’ve inspired me … I like your eye look but then I suspect I wear mote color than the average AARP member… as long as it’s flattering … the colors flatter your pretty eyes ..

The younger me would’ve liked this box. And while I love crazy colors, not fond of the value for the mystery and the quality.

While I can’t support the LSU look, I think you’re crazy good at applying eyeshadow. Shadows always look like wet garbage on me because my eyelids are weirdly naturally dark. Like, grey. Like I’m dead.

Also, is that first lipstick supposed to look like a vibrator? Because it does.

First off I snorted at “Like, grey. Like I’m dead” 😂 and second, I totally thought it was a vibrator too. Once I read “ammunition” I knew it was supposed to be a bullet… buuuut def saw a vibrator 🤷🏻‍♀️

It looks like a bullet to me.

Can we assume you passed the bar? If so, congrats!

Passed the bar and sworn in as an attorney in the state of Louisiana! Thank you so much!

Congratulations!!! It’s a big accomplishment.

I hope you’ll still grace us with some reviews even though you’re a full time lawyer now 🙂

I’m glad I didn’t order one of these but I kinda knew better since it was a Halloween box. His colors are already wild so I figured the combination would be too much for me. I definitely would’ve been totally disappointed with the lip products. His line has so many beautiful colors, many in much more subtle but still fun shades. But that palette would’ve delighted me! My favorite color is purple and that favorite shade of yours you mentioned is gorgeous! I think I may very well buy this palette. I’ll be much happier paying $18 for it as opposed to $40.

Great review and that eye look is stunning!
