JoahBox September 2019 Review

When you first subscribe to JoahBox, there are four drop-down menus to customize your experience:

You will choose your birth month, skin tone (ranging from "very fair" to "dark brown"), your skin type (oily, dry, combination, acne-prone, dull/aging, or sensitive/redness) and if you'd prefer to receive more skincare, makeup, or both.

Last month, JoahBox unveiled this new box design that is super cute! In a world of many beauty subscriptions, I think presentation can really set one apart and JoahBox strives to do just that. Their small booklet goes over each item, the retail value, and how to use it.

Atrue Origin Moist Relief Cream, 2.7 oz. - Retail Value $33.59 (found here for $28.55)

Not only does this moisturizer have beautiful minimal packaging, but it also makes my skin feel incredibly soft! Packed with hyaluronic acid, squalene, olive oil, and other great ingredients, it's also free of bad stuff like parabens. JoahBox suggests using this as a nighttime moisturizer, probably because it lacks SPF. It has a light fragrance and is incredibly creamy. So far, I'm loving this product!

Sally's Box Friendly Collagen Eyepatch - Listed Value $3.00

I popped these collagen eye patches on in the morning after my shower to help with any puffiness or tired-looking skin. They feel so cooling and calming on which I just love and once removed I massaged the remaining serum in to give my eyes a more tightened look.

W. Lab Sebum Out Cleansing Stick, 50 g - Retail Value $19.90 (found here for $17.91)

I got really excited when I saw the words "cleansing stick" because I've been obsessed with a K-Beauty cleansing stick I recently bought at my local drugstore. However, this one is targeted to help with blackheads and whiteheads, as a second "deep cleansing" step. I'm game! It has chubby round deodorant-like packaging and the stick is black due to the charcoal powder is contains, along with peppermint leaf extract. Simply spread the stick over areas you want to pay special attention to (for me, it was my nose and chin area) then use the scrubby silicone brush on the other end of the stick to scrub for one minute. I found this to be relaxing and kinda fun! This is why I love K-Beauty! It gave me a slight light grey foam, and then a rinsed with warm water. Excited to use this as a treatment in the future since I've been having slight breakouts lately.

Etude House Satin Fit Eyeshadow in Creamy Ale - Retail Value $5.39

Wow- this eyeshadow is really pretty and I'm impressed with how soft and creamy it is. There's little fallout and it delivers a consistent soft metallic glow that is really easy to blend and build. "Creamy Ale" is a nice shimmery champagne nude color that would make a great base or highlight to any eye look.

I'm Sorry For My Skin Whitening Comma Mask - Retail Value $4.90 (found here for $3.92)

The name of this brand STILL cracks me up. We've seen it in past JoahBoxes and this time it comes as a whitening mask. This particular one fit my face really well and didn't budge in the short 10 minutes I had it on. After massaging the extra serum in, there was a usual stickiness factor until it was absorbed, but my face looked brighter and felt moisturized afterward.

Verdict: JoahBox delivered another great box with super useful items! This month was more skincare-focused which I love. Subscribers actually get to choose if they prefer more makeup or skincare when they subscribe, so that's good to keep in mind! The cleansing stick, moisturizer, and eyeshadow were the standout items to me this time. The retail value of all five products is $66.78 which is almost double the cost of the box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? This one is no longer available but sign up by the 5th to get October as your first box.

We ship boxes on the 10th of each month. Once your box leaves our facilities, it can take about one to three weeks to be delivered. We accept orders until the 5th of each month.

I don’t know why people think parabens are bad in skincare? It’s what keeps your moisturizer from growing mold and going bad. It’s what keeps all your skincare so you can keep it longer than three months. Give me parabens! I hate throwing away skincare that I’ve only used a couple of times. Parabens have a bad rap.

Thank you for saying this! I think it every time I read it, but if I commented on everything I read that I disagree with or that annoys me (chemicals are bad, GMOs are bad, organic is worth the extra money, etc), that’s all I’d do. Apparently I annoy easily 😛
