Bonjour Jolie September 2019 "It's Fall Y'all!" Review

This month's Bonjour Jolie box theme is "It's Fall Y'all" and I love the beautiful fall leaves on our tissue paper and card. Our information card lists some of our items and their retail values.

Let's start with the goods. All of your menstrual products will come in a discreet bag that usually fits within our theme and in this case, it's more leaves!

When you sign up, you can choose up to 20 different menstrual products in any combination of tampons, pads, and liners. They offer a great selection of items from brands like Always, Kotex, and OB. You can check their selection out before you commit though, in case you are someone who has a preferred brand.

Seventh Generation Ultra-Thin Overnight Pads (20) - Buy 28 for $7.99

You can change your selections at any time by editing your profile, but keep in mind there might be a delay if you need to switch up your needs each month. The ability to switch it up is what I really like about this box and the fact that you can try new things without committing to an entire box of products. This may be TMI, but for my next cycle, I'm going to venture into the world of menstrual cups since I've heard such good things and love the eco-friendliness of it. These pads will be my backup since I know there is a learning curve! I'm happy they had a choice that was free from dyes, fragrances, and chlorine.

GoodWipes Cleansing Cloths in Shea-Cocoa (2) - Buy a box of 16 for $2.19

They send cleansing cloths like these each month which is nice because I have a great little stash for when I might need them to freshen up.

Advil To-Go Packs (2) –  Buy 50 2-packs for $9.98

These little packets each have two pills, just enough to help with cramps or headaches while on the go.

Seneca Cinnamon Apple Chips, 0.7 oz bag - Listed Value $1.00 (Buy a case of twelve 2.5 oz bags for $14.00 here)

These cinnamon apple chips were a delicious fall treat! They were a little bit tart, but the sweetness of the cinnamon and sugar really balanced them out. I invited my husband to try some and when I went back for more he confessed that he finished the whole bag. Rude! If I saw these at the store, I'd definitely pick them up... and hide them from my husband!

Luna by Luna Eyeshadow in Spiced Pumpkin, 1.5 g - Retail Value $15.00

This coppery eyeshadow is a great fall color and aptly named "spiced pumpkin." I've actually tried lip gloss from this brand before and liked it, but I have never tried their eyeshadows. This one had a ton of shimmer to it and was very buildable, but it wasn't highly pigmented so you could easily get a more subtle look from this color, too.

Here it is swatched. It applied very smoothly and the top is one swipe while the bottom is a couple of swipes.

Here it is on. It's a great fall color that I see myself wearing a lot!

Bonjour Jolie Travel Candle in Spiced Pumpkin - Listed Value $5.00

This travel candle is the perfect size and the lid actually screws on and off so I would feel comfortable throwing it in my bag for travel. This is actually something that's never occurred to me before, but could be nice idea for a weekend getaway! This is custom made for our box with vegan soy wax and it smells great. Just a little bit of spice with mostly notes of sweet pumpkin and maybe a little vanilla.

Our edibles all came packaged inside this blue bag.

Miniature Kit Kats in Limited Edition Pumpkin Pie (4) - Estimated Value $0.37 (Buy a 9.7 oz bag for $2.98 here)

These Halloween pumpkin pie Kit Kats are cute and not something I would want a large quantity of, so having a few snack-size pieces to sample was perfect! I thought they tasted okay - good, but not something I'd want a ton of but the kids loved them and ate the rest of them up!

Indian Salted Pumpkin Seeds, 5/16 oz - Estimated Value $0.33 (Buy a box of 36 for $11.98 here)

I love pumpkin seeds - especially the homemade kind and I thought these weren't bad although they are much smaller than I prefer. My husband thought they were too salty while my dad finished off the bag for us and told me "the saltier, the better" for him. So I guess it depends on your preference for sure!

Reese's Peanut Butter Cup Snack Size (2) -  Estimated Value $0.51 (Buy a 10.5 oz bag for $3.59 here)

I love my peanut butter cups, so this was a nice treat that I set aside for myself and enjoyed!

Walker's Chunky Belgian Chocolate Biscuits, 0.88 oz - Listed Value $1.00

I am usually not a big shortbread fan, but it turns out if it's Belgian chocolate shortbread with nice chunks of chocolate throughout, I am a fan! These were yummy - not too sweet, a nice crispness to them and good bits of melty chocolate throughout. I would definitely take more of these any day!

Tootsie Caramel Apple Pops - Listed Value $1.00 (Buy a 10.9 oz bag for $2.48 here)

This is one of mine and my husband's favorite fall treats!  These are the sticky sweet caramel apple pops that get stuck in your teeth and take forever to get out, but you know it's worth it every fall! I am really glad they only sent two though because I think we could easily eat a whole bag...and may have actually done so in the past.

Seasonal Bigelow Teabags (3) - Listed Value $1.00 (Buy a mixed case of 6 seasonal flavors for $22.00 here)

Our teas this month are some fun fall flavors from Bigelow. We have Salted Caramel, Caramel Apple, and Pumpkin Spice. Although on our card it lists them as Stash teas. I love the cute little packets with leaves all over them!

The caramel apple flavor was mostly black tea with just a subtle hint of sweet caramel and tart apple.

Verdict: I'm never upset about a fall-themed box and this month's curation from Bonjour Jolie was a nice one! I enjoyed the mix of fall treats and snacks, some of which were tried and true favorites and a few others that were new and fun to try. The pumpkin spice candle and spiced pumpkin eyeshadow were both fun and practical. I am estimating the value with a mix of listed values and retail values to be about $31.59. While this isn't too much over the $24.48/month ($16.50 + $0.99 tax + $6.99 shipping) box, I still enjoyed getting my monthly goods in a cute package along with some delicious treats a few pampering items!

I am a homeschooling mom to 4 kids; 1 girl and 3 boys. While I have been reviewing boxes since 2018 and I love the luxury of trying new products, I'm also balancing it out by dabbling in a little bit of homesteading, too. We now have 4 chickens and a rabbit and my sourdough starter is going strong! I love learning about new brands and sharing the great things I find with others in hopes that they find something new to love or to fit their needs!

Nice box, but I require salt. Lots and lots of salt.

I had a single eyeshadow from Luna by Luna that I got from (I think) Ipsy a year or so ago. I liked it so much that I saved the empty container so that I could reorder it. I really like the pumpkin color, and it looks very good on you!

Thanks for reminding me Ashley! That is where I got a Luna eyeshadow too! Not this color, it was a silver one. It I liked it alot. $15 for just the shadow is a great value for such an inexpensive box too!

Really love the theme this month!
