The Detox Box August 2019 Review feat. Josh Rosebrook

There are always two info cards that accompany the products in each Detox Box. One introduces the featured brand (Josh Rosebrook) with a Q+A and the other talks more in-depth about the three products included.

Josh Rosebrook Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30, 2 ml sample

Josh Rosebrook Tinted Nutrient Day Cream SPF 30, 2 ml sample

Josh Rosebrook Complete Moisture Cleanse, 2 ml sample

Right on top when I opened the box, I was met with three sample sachets of Josh's day cream, tinted day cream, and gel facial cleanser. The cleanser was quite nice and felt really luxurious. Something about it reminded me of how I feel when I get a facial. I haven't tried the tinted moisturizer yet, but the regular day cream was super light and prepped my face for makeup. It didn't feel heavy like some SPF moisturizers.

Josh Rosebrook Serum Spray, 4 oz. - Listed Value $28.00

When I saw the spoilers for this month, I was the least excited about this one since I have a hard time finding hair products that work for me. However, after using it, this serum spray became my favorite item from the box! I wash my hair every day (shush, it works for me) and this product really helps with my broken hair frizzies which are currently my number one hair issue. It brings a perfect amount of moisture when I comb a reasonable number of pumps through my damp hair which seems to look fuller even without blow-drying. This product is brand new, so I wasn't able to find it anywhere online but they've included a value of $28.

Josh Rosebrook Active Enzyme Exfoliator, 0.75 oz. - Retail Value $38.00

As many of you know, I love spreading masks onto my face. This enzyme exfoliator works two ways, as you can do a gentle circular exfoliation with the grit as you apply it to your face, while leaving it on for 10-60 minutes helps dissolve dull skin. The gritty dark green paste smells like a spice rack of ingredients that I find a bit comforting. I found this to be extremely gentle and even though I only left it on for the minimum 10 minutes in the morning before work, I was left with softer skin that felt renewed. I'm looking forward to having more time with this one to hit the 40-minute recommended time to see what it can accomplish.

Josh Rosebrook Hydrating Accelerator, 4 oz. - Retail Value $35.00

The third and final featured product this month is a facial mist. I've reviewed a lot of facial mists in my day and while nothing is wrong with this one, it's just not my favorite. I think part of it is the scent, which is apparently marshmallow, but I pick up on more of a licorice fragrance which I am not a fan of. (Is licorice having a moment? Because I just received another mask this month that was fennel-forward.) The pump on this bottle is actually pretty decent and delivers a fine mist to your face before using any oils or moisturizers. You can also simply spritz this on your face during the day to refresh your skin.

Verdict: This month's Detox Box didn't blow my mind, but it introduced me to a brand new hair product that works well with my finicky hair! I was also delighted with the mask but not super enchanted with the facial mist. Overall, August has a total value of $101 which is great for a box that costs $55.

Great products 🙂 Didn’t need another hair product (esp since they just did a box chock full of Captain Blankenship hair products..) but it’s a nice one. Hopefully hubs will help me use it up.

That exfoliating mask is giving me Mahalo The Bean vibes. That’s my most favorite mask, I can’t wait to try this one!

I loved everything in this box, and now I want to try more from Josh Rosebrook. The hair serum is probably the best hair product I’ve tried. I have fine, limp hair that can look like straw but this serum makes it so soft and shiny (without weighing it down).

Read a release about the hair product. Apparently, he’s been working on it for two years to perfect it, and it sounded so promising, I was going to buy it despite using only Olaplex products. Glad to hear that the hype is real.
