Sweet Sparkle July 2019 Review

Each month Sweet Sparkle includes an info card with an intro to the theme, products sampled, and their retail values. This month’s theme is “Feelin’ Peachy” featuring 5 makeup products.

J. Cat Beauty Holographic 3D Eye Topper in “Pinch Me, Peachy” – Retail Value $6.99

I’ve actually tried these eye toppers before, and they’re really nice! They have a shimmery base with glitter and apply a lot like the Urban Decay Liquid Moondust Shadow (and are half the price!). You can use the wand to apply this directly to your eyelid and then tap it with a finger or a brush to blend it in. I prefer a sheer layer, but you can build these for a very frosty, more dramatic effect. Also, there is no glitter fallout, but only if you’re sure not to touch your lids after the product dries.

Blossom Beauty Color-Changing Crystal Lip Balm in Turquoise – Retail Value $4.99

This is definitely one of those ‘your lips but better’ kind of products, and although it’s not the most moisturizing lip balm, the color-changing effect is very pretty. And of course, the packaging is also very pretty. This balm has a very pleasant fruity smell, too, which I couldn’t taste–another bonus. All in all a total winning product for me!

Kokie Line & Style Longwear Matte Liquid Eyeliner – Retail Value $8

Kokie is a drugstore brand I’ve come to really enjoy testing out, and Sweet Sparkle is usually my source. I don’t remember trying any Kokie items I didn’t like, but there is a first time for everything! This liner went on nicely, but I am definitely not an eyeliner pro. When I tried to fix my lines, I couldn’t reapply where I’ve already applied–it was like I was using an eraser! Also, when I went in with my eyelash curler, the liner just lifted right up.

e.l.f. Cosmetics High Definition Powder in Soft Luminance – Retail Value $6

Since I have pretty dry skin, I tend to avoid face powders; however, I always like to use a finishing powder for my eyelids and under the eye to set my primers and concealers. This powder was very light and didn’t have much of a color to it. I liked the subtle brightening effect it had, although I may have used a little too much (see photo below).

Terre Mère Mineral Bronzer in Halite – Retail Value $38

Even though I am absolutely swimming in shimmery bronzers, I was excited to see an item with such a high retail value in this box. This powder is very fine and was very easy to blend for a nice, sheer glow. Typically I have issues with bronzers turning orange on me, but this one looked great all day long.

Swatches of the makeup (left to right): J. Cat Beauty Eye Topper, Blossom Beauty Lip Balm in Turquoise, Kokie Eyeliner, Terre Mère Blush in Halite, e.l.f. Cosmetics Powder in Shimmer

Here is the look I came up with using all of the products from this month’s box. I love the sheer glow the Terre Mère bronzer gave me and am also loving the pretty pink J. Cat Eyeshadow topper and Blossom Beauty Balm. As you can see the black liner has lifted, and it was impossible to go over the shape I already made without somehow erasing some of what I’d already laid down. All in all, a nice cohesive makeup look! I am definitely feelin’ peachy! 🙂

Verdict: Sweet Sparkle sent a great box this month! The peach theme came with so many items I’ll definitely use up, and I can see myself recreating this subtle makeup look again and again. This month’s retail value came to $63.98, which I think is pretty good for a $24.50 box.

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No. Your first box will be the current month’s box. So if you sign up in the month of August, you will get the August box, etc.
