My Fashion Crate August 2019 Review

My Fashion Crate always includes an insert with descriptions of the items and their values. The front side of the page lists everything in the Essential box, while the back gives you the Premium box details. They include pictures, which I always appreciate.

Sunny Striped Dress, size L - Listed Value $45.00

I was surprised at how much I liked this dress! It is not my typical style, but I thought it was really cute and I could definitely see wearing it with a floppy hat as the info card suggests. (Possibly even strolling through a field of wildflowers as the sun sets?) My husband and my mom said it reminds them of an apron, and the high squared neckline definitely is similar to an apron, but I thought the rest of the details like the buttons down the side were cute! My only issue with this dress is that the back and sides are so low that my bra was showing with this one. I managed to hide it a bit for pictures, but I could definitely not comfortably go out in this dress this way. I need more support in the front so braless isn't really an option for me, so I'll have to find a creative solution! Normally my bra would not show in the back the way it does in the photos, but when putting the dress on, the elastic seems to have come loose that goes around the button. It will be an easy fix though! What are your thoughts on this dress?

Boho Tassel Earrings by Riah Fashion - Retail Value $14.00, Listed Value $24.00 (found here for $13.99)

I am usually one for more subtle, simple earrings, but I love these! The gold and mint green are very much my style and since these go into your ears and hang down sideways (see below), they feel a bit more simple to me than some of the larger tassel style earrings out there.

They also happen to match a new shirt I got perfectly! These are probably my favorite item this month.

MaskerAide Rosé All Day Face Masks - Retail Value $5.27, Listed Value $6.00

This month we received this face mask which actually had two separate masks inside to help to shrink your pores and boost your skin's radiance. They come in cute little wine bottle-shaped packets and it was so pretty and shimmery on my face, maybe because it has real 24k gold flakes inside (fancy!). The mask itself was thick and difficult to spread and it actually smelled so much like alcohol it was as though I was really drinking a bottle of rosé (not kidding here!). It was a bit painful to peel off the mask when done, but it left my skin feeling and looking smooth. These would be a cute girls' night gift or activity!

Mai Couture Luxurious Mai Wallet - Retail Value $28.00

This brand is familiar to this subscription and I love the nude taupe color of this wallet and the gold accents. It has a snap closure, 4 card slots and two other pockets inside, both of which can be used to hold the makeup papers that Mai Couture sells. It is a nice, quality wallet and the stitched chevron pattern on the outside really adds to the quality feel.

It also came with this slim, shatterproof mirror which is perfect if you do happen to stash some makeup papers inside!

The following items are only in the Premium Box:

Darling Ivory Dress, size L - Listed Value $45.00

This dress is so lightweight and comfortable! I think it is a pretty simple and basic design and the blue lace eyelet details at the bottom give it a romantic feel. It has adjustable straps at the top and while it does have a liner at the bottom, the top is incredibly see-through. I had a white strapless bra on here, but it looks like I will have to stick with my nude bra for this one since even that stood out through the fabric. I think this is a great, summery beach dress that will be cute and comfortable in the heat!

Be A Pineapple Cosmetic Bag - Listed Value $28.00

The last item this month is this cute cosmetic bag. I love the colors and the style and it's great that it comes with a removable strap so you could potentially use this as a clutch. The strap doesn't seem like it's great quality though, so I could see it not lasting, especially once the bag has some weight in it. I love that the bottom of the bag can open so that it sits flat, which is great for a cosmetic bag, but it did have a funky chemical-like odor right out of the bag. I'm hoping it will dissipate some over time. While I think this is cute, it definitely seems like the retail value is a bit inflated for the quality though.

Verdict: This month's My Fashion Crate was a pretty good one! I actually really liked the clothing items this month and those are usually pretty hit or miss for me. We did receive a mask and cosmetic bag last month as well, but the styles are very different from one another, so hopefully, most subscribers don't mind! I thought this was another good mix of items overall and my favorite item was definitely the earrings which I think are a fun, summery style.

The total value for the Premium box comes to $165.27 this month, which is great for a $55.90 ($49.95 + $5.95 shipping) box, even if a few of the prices felt inflated. As for the Essential box, the value is $92.27, which is good for a $40.95 ($35 + $5.95 shipping) box. For the $14.95 extra paid for the Premium box, I received the dress and cosmetic case (valued at $73.00).

If the elastic around the button on the first dress came loose after being put on once, it can’t be great quality. Even if it is an easy fix, you shouldn’t have to fix something you just bought. You are always such a good sport about this sub, but the clothing seems cheaply made to me.

Not to mention that they are all see-through.

Good point! The rest of the dress actually feels pretty well though! I agree, the clothing can definitely be hit or miss here though! 🙂
