Birchbox The Amazing Aussie Kit Review
Here is the info sheet for the products included.
TLW Time Is Precious Triple Hair Shot, 1 oz - Retail Value $20
It takes a lot for a hair product to impress me after one use, but this bad boy did. This made my hair noticeably softer after one use, and it did cut down on drying time, too. The instructions say to use half of the bottle, but I just generously spritzed this through my hair and was happy with the results.
Davroe Ends Repair, 1.7 oz – Estimated Value $10 (Buy a full-size 125 ml for $25)
I have been using this frequently since receiving it in a different box, and I have really enjoyed how it has been nourishing my hair. I usually go in first with a hair oil from mid-shaft to the ends, and then I take a tiny dollop of this product and apply it just to the ends of my hair. It works well to keep my ends tame, especially when I braid my hair to keep it out of my face.
Coco & Eve Like A Virgin Coconut & Fig Hair Masque, 1 oz - Estimated Value $6.93 (Buy the full-size 7.2 oz for $49.90)
This hair mask has coconut extract, fig extract, and argan oil to add a strong boost of hydration to your hair in the five-ish minutes you leave it in your hair. My hair definitely felt nourished after using, and I like the light pink and green packaging.
ModelCo LIP PLUMPER Hydra Lip Therapy, 0.34 fl oz - Full-Size! Retail Value $25
My lips just do not tolerate lip plumpers- I usually get a pimple or burned lips after using one, even when I have tried various brands. Because of this, I've passed this along to a friend whose lips can handle more tingling, and she said the tingling was very mild and she liked the glossy shine but thought the texture was a bit sticky.
Red Earth HAVE FUN Lipstick Matches, 1 match pack - Estimated Value $3 (Buy a set of 3 for $9)
I was really excited to see these- I have been wanting to try Red Earth for a while since discovering them on Instagram, and these lipstick matches are such an innovative product idea. Each "match" has a tip coated in lipstick, and I used the very tip to line my lips before going in with the longer side to fill my lips in.
Here it is on! While the pink color clashed with the red shirt I was wearing, I really enjoyed the bright pink color and thought the formula was creamy and comfortable.
Blaq Hyaluronic Acid Eye Masks, 2 pairs - Estimated Value $11.60 (Buy 5 pairs for $29)
I've used these before and I welcome more into my collection of masks- they're cooling, depuffing, and my eyes always look less tired when I am done wearing them.
Sand & Sky Australian Pink Clay Porefining Face Mask, 0.45 oz – Estimated Value $11.03 (Buy the full-size 2 oz for $49)
This mask is made with kaolin clay, bentonite, aloe vera, vitamins A and E, witch hazel, and licorice, and it is designed to brighten and refine your skin. I have learned through both beauty blogs and trial and error that the best way to use clay masks is to NOT let them completely dry on your face, otherwise, your skin will be parched after using. I used this mask while I was taking a warm bath (which means my masks never fully dry on my face), and I was happy with how my skin looked and felt afterward.
Neon & Co. Treatment Oil, 1 oz - Estimated Value $5.95 (Buy the full-size 4.2 oz for $25)
My hair loves hair oils, and while this definitely added softness and shine it didn't weigh my hair down or make it look greasy.
The Verdict: I thought this box was a little heavy on the hair products, but that didn't bother me because I enjoyed all of them. Getting to try the Red Earth matchsticks was a personal win for me, and overall I thought this was a well-curated box of Australian products. Value-wise, Birchbox promised a total value of $116, and by my math, they did come up short with a total value of $93.51.
