QVC Beauty Shawn’s Favorites July 2019 Review
Skinfix 12-Hour Miracle Ointment, 0.3 oz – Estimated Value $5.10 (Buy the 0.35 oz version for $6)
I couldn’t find the 12-hour miracle ointment online anywhere but after some sleuthing and some ingredients list comparisons I believe that it has been rebranded as the 911 ointment– both feature allantoin as the active ingredient along with cupuaçu butter and jojoba and coconut oils. I have some scratches and irritated patches along my hands and arms right now, and this definitely felt soothing to them. Plus, a tiny bit goes a long way so this sample will last a while. Honestly, if it didn’t have coconut oil I think this would make a great soothing balm to my inflamed cystic acne.
Perricone MD Cold Plasma+ Advanced Eye Cream, 0.17 oz – Estimated Value $37.40 (Buy the 0.5 oz version for $110)
I am always happy to see the Perricone MD brand appear in subscription boxes, and I like this eye cream. It’s cooling upon application and melts into the delicate skin under my eyes quickly, and it is designed to both prevent and treat dark circles, fine lines, and puffiness. If you like this eye cream, I recommend buying multiples of this box- this sample alone is worth almost double the cost of the box.
Tweezerman Slant Tweezers – Retail Value $23
I got these exact tweezers in a different QVC box and I still use them to this day. That tells me both 1) I am impressed that I haven’t managed to lose them and 2) they are still as sharp as ever for getting close and plucking small hairs (or big ones, these bad boys don’t discriminate). I am happy to have another pair because the fact I haven’t lost my current pair is definitely a fluke.
Mally Shadow Stick in Over the Taupe, Full-Size! Retail Value $25
I have tried these shadow sticks from Mally before, and while I like them they’re just not something I reach for often in my makeup arsenal. Since it has a built-in primer it is supposed to be resistant to smearing, and it makes it convenient to add a quick pop of color to my lash line.
First Aid Beauty Coconut Skin Smoothie Priming Moisturizer, 0.34 oz – Estimated Value $6.35 (Buy the 0.78 oz version for $14)
I like First Aid Beauty (has anyone tried their cannabis and colloidal oatmeal oil? I am very curious), and this is made with coconut water and a blend of skin-supporting minerals. I don’t usually wear a primer under my BB creams, and I could see using this as my moisturizer on those days.
MineTan Coconut Tanning Foam, 1.01 oz – Estimated Value $5.22 (Buy the full-size 200 ml for $34.99)
I am very, very pale and I have never felt the need to change that through tanning, real or fake. Skin cancer is real, though, so if I do get the urge to be a bronzed goddess instead of a pale one I would reach for a tanning foam like this one- it is easy to spread out and it smells just like coconuts.
IT Cosmetics Superhero Liner, 0.005 oz – Estimated Value $6.67 (Buy the full-size version for $24)
I was disappointed in this liner- it doesn’t provide the jet black color I want from my liquid liner, and to me, that’s the most important thing. I was able to get thick and thin lines with ease, though.
Here it is swatched above the Mally shadow stick.
The Verdict: If you need tweezers or a new eye cream, I think you’ll find this box to be a hit. I calculated a total value of $108.74 for everything in the box, which blows the $23.50 cost of the box out of the water. I do wish QVC would ease up on the self-tanner, though, because they have been including it very frequently.
