Gwynnie Bee June 2019 Review
This review is of the 3 items at a time subscription from 5/21 through 6/20.
Border Print Red Floral Dress by Flying Tomato
Gwynnie Bee doesn't seem to carry too many garments by Flying Tomato, so I am always thrilled to receive a piece from them. Their designs, patterns, and color schemes are always really festive and unique! This tomato red, kimono-sleeved dress is just gorgeous! It's fully lined and 100% polyester. I got a lot of compliments on this one!
Hanky Hem Twofer Dress by eShakti
Like many pieces from eShakti, I love the idea of this dress, but it didn't work out that well in reality. The chiffon skirt is double-layered with a handkerchief hem, which is really fashionable, but for some reason it is an awkward length on me. I do love the pattern, though! The knit top portion of the dress should be really flattering as it is black and empire-waisted, but for some reason it is just not. I'm not sure why. All this is really just to say that I expected to like this dress on me a lot, and I was a little disappointed when I finally tried it on.
Blue Floral Olivia Dress by Lucky Brand
This dress is really pretty and simple. I loved wearing it! It has a very minimal navy blue attached slip underneath, and the outer layer is cotton. It was comfortable and felt good on. This is the perfect summer dress!
Navy and White Dot Fit And Flare Dress by NY Collection
This dress is a spandex / poly blend, so it was very thin and lightweight, and very stretchy. I like the way it looks on me, and overall I think it's really cute and comfortable! I feel pretty confident that I was the first person to rent this dress, and the reason I say that is because the belt was in perfect condition. This dress has a ribbon (literally) tie belt that is sewn into the back. I feel like unless it is very well cared for, the belt will age way before the dress does. Fortunately, since it is a rental, I don't have to worry about that!
Blue Lace Overlay Ruffle Sleeve Dress by Taylor Dresses
This dress is just gorgeous! I am so impressed by it! The underlayer is a simple slip, but the outer layer is all white and blue-tinged lace. I love the seaming and the shape, too. I also love the way that it looks on me. I actually did not wind up wearing this dress because I didn't have any occasion special enough to wear it to! It's pretty fancy!
Sapphire Garden Drawstring Dress by City Chic
I love dresses from City Chic; they are always such high quality. This is a lightweight 100% polyester unlined dress with a built-in elastic / drawstring waist and mid-length puff sleeves with elastic at the cuffs. I love the print, and the shade of blue is awesome because it is just a hair more vibrant than standard navy blue. The cut and length were also ideal. This was a very easy and pretty dress to wear!
Sheer Sleeve Yellow Floral Top by Skies Are Blue
This is a really pretty top for summer! It's another polyester piece, but I just love the tiny lacy trim! The color is really vibrant and pretty, and the print is nice, too. I just wish the neckline was a little more open and interesting.
Trinity Print Shift Dress by Tolani
This cool cotton dress was really breezy and comfortable, and I like the bandana print a lot! The only thing I didn't really like about it is the cut. It's shaped kind of just like a big sack. I think it would look better on someone taller.
Blue And Gold Floral Fit And Flare Dress by Eva Rose
I love the way blue and gold look together! You don't see it all that often, so I was excited to get to wear this dress. In addition to the nice color and print, it also has a perfectly executed sweetheart neckline. You don't see that too often either! It also has pockets, which makes this dress almost ideal. It was also a good length for me. I enjoyed wearing this one!
The Verdict: Gwynnie Bee is so awesome! This month there were a few misses, but by and large, everything I received this month was great. I especially loved the dresses from Flying Tomato and City Chic. I love being able to wear pieces that I otherwise would not choose. It helps to push me out of my comfort zone a bit. You never know what will look good on you if you don't get the chance to try!
