This box includes a detailed newsletter about the workings of your new subscription.
It also comes with a handy FAQ for those who are a bit wary about receiving cheese in the mail.
Everything was safe and secure in the styrofoam packaging, and it was also packaged with dry ice. My cheese was still cool when it arrived!
Each cheese also had a newsletter dedicated to it- I loved reading through each one and learning about the different types of cheese and what made the cheese I received special. The back of each sheet features tasting notes and serving suggestions. Above is the parmesan newsletter.

Kroon Gouda (Netherlands)
Gouda is a cows-milk cheeese, and this one in particular is a young cheese that was aged about 8-10 weeks. Before I even read the tasting notes my first impression was that this is a buttery cheese, and that’s exactly what the tasting notes said! I didn’t really pick up “hints of caramel,” but this soft cheese was tasty both on its own and also on top of a frozen pizza I was trying to class up a bit.
Antique Gruyere (Switzerland)
This gruyere has been aged for over a year, and it has a much firmer texture that is similar to Parmigiano, and the flavor is a bit more pungent. I like a strong cheese, and that is exactly what this is. It is smooth while still being interesting, and this was my favorite cheese out of the three to eat plain and savor.
Parmigiano Reggiano (Italy)
I absolutely adore a good Parmigiano, and that is exactly what this is. It has the tiny crystals inside that I associate with a good cheese, and it has a saltiness that is just a tiny bit buttery. I grated some of this over a bowl of pasta, and I was in heaven. This reminds me of the good cheese my dad would bring home from the fancy grocery store on his days off, and we would just cut off pieces and enjoy it together. One thing I also appreciate is that the rind isn’t too thick- I have definitely purchased parmesan before and been disappointed in how much of what I paid for was rind. I like to stick my rinds in the freezer, and then when I am making spaghetti sauce I throw in the rinds for salty goodness (it never completely and fully melts, and I love digging them out and eating them after a few hours simmering).
As soon as I was done with this box I had to make a cheese plate- I took slices of all three, some thinly sliced Genoa salami, and some fig spread and had a glorious lunch. All of the cheese played with the meat and fig, but they were still flavorful enough to enjoy alone. From the top, going clockwise we have the gouda, Gruyere, and parmesan.
Verdict: Look y’all- I love cheese so much that the roommate I had my sophomore year of undergrad (more than 5 years ago) still posts cheese memes to my facebook page a few times a month. All of the cheeses this month definitely delivered on the high-quality aspect. Sometimes I will splurge and go to the fancy cheese section of Whole Foods, and these were better than any of the ones I splurged on. Each slice is about a half of a pound, and I love that there is enough to cook with in a recipe or use as finishing touches. This is definitely on the pricier end if you’re used to sticking with pre-shredded cheese from the supermarket, but I definitely found value in all of the included literature. Along with me personally enjoying it, this would be a great gift for someone like my dad who just. likes. cheese.
