CatLadyBox is a monthly subscription box for cat ladies (or anyone who is crazy about cats)! The $34.99 per month CatLadyBox has 2-3 cat-themed items – wearables, items for the home, books, etc.  The $39.99 per month Crazy CatLadyBox contains everything from the CatLadyBox plus a few items just for cats.

This is a review of the $39.99/month “Crazy” CatLadyBox.

CatLadyBox July 2019 Review

CatLadyBox is always full of fun, cat-themed lifestyle items. Let’s see what was in store for July:

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Booklet Front Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Booklet Back

I love how the information cards have custom artwork every month. And the back has more information about the items in the box. This month’s theme is “Bad Cats” and I did put this information card on my refrigerator because the cat looks like Angus and Angus has definitely ruined a few rolls of toilet paper…

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Cat Bandages

Cat Bandages – Listed Value $6.99

I haven’t yet found the stash of first aid supplies at my new office (don’t even know if there is one) so I’ll be putting these in my desk for dealing with the inevitable paper cuts I will get on the job.

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Jimmy The Jailbird Catnip Toy

Jimmy the Jailbird Catnip Toy – Listed Value $5.99

This is a catnip plus with a little ball dangling from it. Angus was particularly interested in this toy, as you can see from the photos below.

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Meowfia Cat Catnip Toy

Meowfia Cat Catnip Toy – Listed Value $5.99

This is a small catnip plush with a slightly different texture than the bird toy. There was something about this toy that made several cats (especially Monkey and Madison) rub their faces all over it. They are older (Madison is 12 and Monkey is at least 13) so I am happy whenever either shows interest in a toy, even if it is not “normal” play.

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - “Cat Mama Needs Wine” Wine Glass 1 Cat Lady Box July 2019 - “Cat Mama Needs Wine” Wine Glass 2

“Cat Mama Needs Wine” Wine Glass – Listed Value $16.99

I don’t have much of a collection of drinkware suitable for alcohol because I don’t drink, but I do sometimes have guests who drink, and honestly it would be kind of funny to see one of my in-laws using this glass (they don’t have cats). This is pretty big as wine glasses go (I think). I could also just use it for iced tea or something if I am in the mood.

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Bad Cat Meowfia Shirt 1 Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Bad Cat Meowfia Shirt 2 Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Bad Cat Meowfia Shirt 3 Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Bad Cat Meowfia Shirt 4 Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Bad Cat Meowfia Shirt 5

Bad Cat Meowfia Shirt – Listed Value $22.99

Two VERY BAD CATS helped me take these photos. (Seriously, Monkey and Angus, or “Monkey Jr.” as we sometimes call Angus, are the most likely of my crew to get into trouble.) This is a soft T-shirt that will be good for running weekend errands (I can’t wear T-shirts with graphics in the office, plus my favorite Whole Foods cashier and the folks at my vet’s office tell me they look forward to my cat shirts every Saturday). I do note it is almost the same color as May’s T-shirt, and while it is a color I like, I might like to see a bit more color variety in future months.

Gratuitous cat pictures:

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Angus 1 Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Angus 2 Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Angus 3

Angus loved this toy, just like I knew he would.

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Madison 1

Madison rubbed his face all over this one. It doesn’t make for great pictures but he definitely enjoyed himself.

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Monkey 1 Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Monkey 2

Monkey did the same as Madison. It was pretty intense with him, as you can see from the second photo.

Cat Lady Box July 2019 - Sneaky 1

Sneaky found this interesting, but probably would’ve liked it more if it had been edible. That’s Sneaky for you.

Verdict: I calculated a value of about $58.95 for the July 2019 (Crazy) CatLadyBox. I liked the “bad cats” theme and can relate to it because I have several cats who misbehave (OK, 3 out of 4 – Madison is a good boy). My cats enjoyed the toys and I have a use for all the other items (I was actually going to buy bandaids at Target this weekend to take to work but now I don’t need to) and I consider that a pretty good month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Officially your subscription would start with August’s box, but way back when I signed up, I was contacted to say there were a few of the current month’s box left over and asked if I’d like one of those.  So it may be worth inquiring.

Value Breakdown: At a price of $39.99 for this box, you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Bandaids $4.74
  • Bird toy $4.06
  • Cat toy $4.06
  • Wine glass $11.53
  • Shirt $15.60

Not sure the best place to post this, but I saw on instagram that first time subscribers can get 50% off their first Crazy CatLadyBox today only with the code 10CATMASJULY. That’s a pretty great deal! I think it will be September’s box but I’m not entirely sure about the cutoff dates, so I could be mistaken.

Probably so because the August box arrived today so those have already gone out.

My cats were very interested in the T-shirt this time. One jumped into the laundry basket to smell it and another one was sniffing outside the laundry basket. They have never been interested in the laundry basket before, so it had to be because I had just put the shirt in it.

I just broke down and bought that toilet paper art print in her Etsy shop.

Ladies, Google “One Fast Cat”. Our vet tech told us about it this morning, and my husband has already ordered one. He loves gadgets. I hope the cats will love it too.

Man, we’re so susceptible to suggestion.

OK I should try to get Angus interested in that. He weighs 16 pounds now! It’s his IBD medicine, so there’s not a lot we can do, but exercise could help. (He should be maybe an 11 pound cat.)

If you do, please post a review of it!!

I’d love to know how your cats take to the wheel! I’ve been eyeing them for quite a while. Glad to see they are coming down in price.
