Bombay & Cedar is a luxury lifestyle subscription box for women that focuses on essential oils, diffusers, skincare, books, snacks, and other products. I always get excited about this box because it usually has such a crazy variety of things and they are always thoughtfully curated.

Bombay & Cedar "Unwind" Review

The box comes with a booklet of information that lists out the products and highlights some of the brands. The theme this month is 'Unwind.'

Dream Essential Oil Blend, 10 ml - Listed Value $24.00

Petitgrain Essential Oil, 10 ml - Listed Value $17.00

I absolutely love Petitgrain, so I was thrilled with this pairing. Petitgrain oil comes from the leaves and stems of bitter orange trees, meaning it has a familiar citrus scent but also this sharp, amazing greenness. It is one of my favorite scents because it is bright, but also sophisticated and endlessly interesting. I plan on diluting some of this in a coconut carrier oil to use as a body moisturizer.

The Dream blend was also delightful, a soothing assortment of calming lavender, sage, marjoram, and chamomile.

Maple Praline Almonds by Naked Snacks, 45 g - Listed Value $2.00

How can you ever go wrong with candied almonds? These nuts are coated in a sugary maple coating that gives them a nice snap and crunch! Perfect for snacking or dessert, I only wish the bag was bigger!

Lavender Spearmint Body Wash by Opulent Blends, 8.5 fl oz- Retail Value $8.00

Lots of great scents in this month's box. This sulfate-free body wash smells of lavender and spearmint. I don't normally like spearmint very much, but when combined with lavender it becomes something really clean and fresh! This formula is free of artificial fragrances, instead relying on essential oils for its lovely smell. It also came with a little hand sanitizer sample and a folded brand information brochure containing a coupon.

Moon Infusions Calm Moon Drops, 3.1 fl oz – Retail Value $50.00

I have gotten some moon drops before and I really like them. Dropping some in my daily water bottle or seltzer feels like a little moment of luxury. Do they make me calmer? Hard to say. I am pretty chill naturally, and rarely get too stressed out. But they do taste weirdly great and have a ton of vitamin C. They taste of slightly bitter green tea and other "healthy" sorts of things. I love them in a glass of sparkling water and lime... and gin.

10-in-1 Mad-dana Headband - Retail Value $9.99

My mom never made me wear headbands as a kid, so I have trouble with how tight ones feel around my head to this day. I will admit that this is cute, and would absolutely come in handy for masking, even if you aren't into it as a fashion accessory. It is a long tube shape made out of super stretchy striped fabric.

DIY Macrame Plant Hanger Kit by Wild & Feather - Retail Value $45.90

I am so excited about this kit! The last time I counted, I had 48 plants in my house. Needless to say, they take up a lot of space. I am also blessed to have plenty of windows, so hanging them just makes sense. I love the boho look of macrame hangers and I have always wanted to try my hand at it. I now have no excuse not to! The instruction bracelet has very clear instructions and I was happy to see that macrame plant hangers are basically just giant friendship bracelets for plants. Many of the knots are identical. This might be a perfect solution to what my husband describes as "my plant problem."

ZEA Makeup Remover Wipes with Rose Hip Essential Oil - Estimated Value $3.30 (Buy 3 packs of 30 wipes for $9.99)

When you test out as many products as I do, you are always running out of makeup wipes! These arrived at a perfect time, as my desk stash has just run dry. They have a light scent that smells really clean, and do a fine job of removing whatever lipstick, eyeliner, mascara, serum, moisturizer, blush, highlighter, or bronzer I have covered myself in.

Glow Cold Roller - Retail Value $24.00

Finally, our last item is a giant cold roller. It has a large metal drum on its head that is cold to the touch. The instructions suggested putting it in the freezer for at least 20 minutes, which meant about an hour for me since I immediately forgot it was in there and remembered when I started to compose this review. This thing gets COLD. I found it was way too cold for my face, but felt great on my arms, legs, and neck. It would be perfect for those hot summer days when you just need to cool off. It immediately helped with any sun-related redness and just felt super nice in general. My only complaint is that it was so squeaky that it wasn't relaxing.

Verdict: This month's Bombay & Cedar box is one of my favorites yet. Things started off really well with that petitgrain oil and the hits kept on coming. My favorite items would easily be the Moon Drops, body wash, and the DIY macrame kit, but I can easily say I enjoyed everything in this box. The value was there too! I am estimating this box is worth around $184.19, which is great for a $49.95 box. I can't wait to get home and start making my new plant hanger while smelling that delicious petitgrain in my diffuser!

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but order by 8/12 to get the August box!

Value Breakdown: This box costs $49.95 + $6.95 shipping, which means that each of the 9 items in the box has an average cost of $6.32.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I wish Bombay started sending these boxes in advance for reviews. I can’t afford to buy a mystery box for CAD $75 every month. I subscribed for July based on spoilers, but that would be a one-off indulgence for me. If I knew the contents in advance, that would have been a different story.

Good luck with the macramé. I can tell just by looking at the instruction page that it’s a project that would make me cry. 🙂

When I was crocheting beanies for my newborns, I found that videos were much easier to learn from. (Those illustrations always seem to not show the whole picture). And you can pause, rewind steps to see exactly what is happening.

P.S. I got those wipes from another sub and I liked them too, soft and not too heavily scented.
