Slay Glam Box May 2019 Review

Slay Glam usually sends an info card each month with an itemized list of what’s in your box, including retail values, but I didn’t have one included in this shipment.

Once again, I was able to choose two of the items I received this month (the shade of Bang Beauty brow product & Bella Pierre lip kit). If you follow @slayglambox on Instagram, the box curator enables subscribers to choose certain items each month by DMing, commenting or e-mailing their picks by a certain date. I love this feature!

Slay Glam May 2019 - Kiss Proof Metallic Slay Kit 1

Kiss Proof Metallic Slay Kit in Redesque – Retail Value $45

One of the best aspects of Slay Glam Box is the curator, Rasha, gives every subscriber the opportunity to choose one or two variations each month; this was one of the items I picked, and there were several different colors and finishes to choose from.

Slay Glam May 2019 - Kiss Proof Metallic Slay Kit 2

I don’t typically put a lot of effort into any of my lip looks, so anything with more than one step is extra for me. The color of the lipliner in this kit is Truly Red, and the lip cream shade is Redesque, a berry metallic. Each of the two color products is gorgeous! I lightly lined my lips with the pencil, creating a sheer wash of pink, then slathered on the lip cream. I let the lip cream set for a minute, then I layered on the clear Kiss Proof Lip Finish. This product is so different! It is glossy, hydrating and it really made my lip color last. I loved how each of these different products came together to create a gorgeous lip; what a great set!

Cailyn Cosmetics Illumineral Bronzer Powder in Golden Copper – Retail Value $33

Shimmery bronzers are great for summer to up your glow, and when I used this one, it totally replaced the need for a highlighter. The color Golden Copper is a little orange for my tone, but the color sheered out nicely after a little blending. The handy brush that comes equipped in the lid of this product is soft and evenly buffed the product out on my cheekbones, forehead, and chest.

Cailyn Beauty 4 in 1 Eye Brush– Retail Value $22

I just love receiving makeup brushes in subscriptions! How cute are these mini brushes? The bristles are soft and can work with cream, liquid or powder products, too. Perfect for travel, these two double-ended brushes fit right into one sleek package. I used these to put my eye look together (see pic below), and they worked seamlessly.

Slay Glam May 2019 - Bang Beauty Brow Cream 1 Slay Glam May 2019 - Bang Beauty Brow Cream 2

Bang Beauty Brow Cream in Milk Chocolate – Retail Value $22

Bang Beauty products seem to have made their way into a few different subscriptions lately. My eyebrows are microbladed, but I always like to add a little color to soften them up, so I put this brow cream to the test. The brush that comes with this product is pointless since I want a defined shape, so I ended up using the angled side of the 4 in 1 Cailyn Brush above. This color is perfect for a more natural brow look, but this product is very dry. It took a lot of effort to build up the product on my brush just to get the pigment to come through. I use a lot of brow pomades, high and low end, and I’d say this one performed okay, but there are others I definitely prefer.

Slay Glam May 2019 - Beauty Creations Seduce Me Palette 1 Slay Glam May 2019 - Beauty Creations Seduce Me Palette 2

Beauty Creations Seduce Me Palette – Retail Value $14.99

This palette provides a lot of bang for your buck! I used this exclusively for my look below, and I had a great makeup day! Ranging from cool purples to warm oranges and reds, this versatile palette can accommodate really any look from bold to subtle.

The shimmers swatched beautifully, but the matte colors were dry and didn’t pick up too well on my brushes or fingers.

Slay Glam May 2019 - Me 1

Here is the look I created using all the makeup products from this month’s Slay Glam Box. I am only wearing the Bellapierre Lipliner in this first photo.

Slay Glam May 2019 - Me 2 Slay Glam May 2019 - Beauty Creations Seduce Me Palette 5

I blended matte shades Obey and Dirty Talk together for a base, worked Favors out into the outer V of my eye (carrying it under my eye to about the middle), then patted 50 Shades in the middle of my lid with my finger. I finished the look off with the white shimmer in the palette, Safe Word, in the inner corner of my eye.

Slay Glam May 2019 - Me 3

I thought maybe the full lip kit would be too bold for my eye look, but it created a sweet monochromatic look that totally worked for me.

Verdict: Another satisfying box from Slay Glam Box! This box has a retail value of $136.99 – all for under $25 plus free shipping! It just seems like this box keeps improving, and the best thing about it is being able to personalize each box by choosing one or two variations each month. This month delivered a few new favorites, and I can’t wait to see what next month’s box offers!

  1. April & May I rec’d duplicate eyeshadow palette, bronzer, and the brow cream. And they were all just mediocre. I understand it’s new but add that to not rec’ing either boxes until June……Not worth it imho with so many great beauty box options. Maybe for a teenager or a young lady that has limited makeup/experience.

  2. This curator is so awesome to deal with. She’s very hands on responding to inquiries, problems, questions, you name it. She’s very hands on in communicating with her customers, potential customers & just all questions. She’s very professional, very courteous & as prompt as she can be. I’ve been a subscriber for a few months now & am very happy with my selections I received. I also had Lola Beauty Box (huge problem with them) since September 2018 until they seemed to go belly up. At least I received my April box. Then they charged me in May under a different name & I had to change my debit card & file a fraud claim. Many customers said Lola Beauty Box was terrible & rude to deal with. Slay Glam Box is quite the opposite.

  3. This looks like another Lola beauty box

  4. Nice I think I’ll try this sub 🙂 are they easy to cancel if I don’t like it ?

    • Well it did look Good at first , but it seems every month they give an eyeshadow palette as a filler , every month I don’t need all those eyeshadows only if you had the option to opt out of eyeshadows yuk then maybe I would get this box :/
