My Fashion Crate Subscription Review May 2019 - Black Stripe Top Front

Black Stripe Top – Listed Value $35

Flattering, comfortable, and stylish! I don’t know what else I could ask for from a summer top! This is a cotton knit, so it’s really soft and breathable fabric. I think the cold shoulders are kind of unique in that this is almost a tank top but with partial sleeves. Black and white always looks sharp, and I like the asymmetrical hem a lot, too. I don’t think I would really wear this with jorts, but it would look fantastic with some wide legged black pants or maybe some white cropped jeans. I like this a lot!

August Bamboo Sunglasses by Blue Planet – Listed Value $45 (buy a similar pair for $60)

This exact pair of sunglasses is not available on Blue Planet’s website, so the link provided goes to some similar, albeit more expensive, sunglasses. These are really cute and comfortable, and the bamboo arms give them that eco-friendly feel. I also like that they have a philanthropic mission and provide corrective lenses to someone in need for every pair of sunglasses sold. That’s awesome!

What a cute little bookmark! Fortunately, I read a lot, so this is great. It feels like a lightweight metal or maybe some kind of plastic. The design is really clever.

Lip Service Gift set by Mirabella – Retail Value $30

This is an awesome little gift set! It’s like a fun reminder to take care of your lips. I love this kind of lip plumping mask, even though they are always a zillion times too big for my lips. I wish I had big luscious lips like these! In any case, I used the mask and it had that irritating feeling that lets you know the plumping is actually happening. I didn’t really see much of a difference, but my lips did feel fuller and softer. The set also included a Mini Lip Definer Pencil in Spunky, a Mini Mulberry Mocha Lipstick, and a Mini Angelic Luxe Advanced Formula Lip Gloss. I really love the colors of all three! My favorite was the lipstick because it was the best color and was very creamy.

The following items are in the Plus Size Premium Box only:

My Fashion Crate Subscription Review May 2019 - Ivory Short Sleeve Cardigan 1 FrontMy Fashion Crate Subscription Review May 2019 - Ivory Short Sleeve Cardigan 2 Back

Ivory Short Sleeve Cardigan – Listed Value $38

This cotton knit short sleeve cardigan is lightweight and so perfect for summer! I have many sleeveless items, but I am not always comfortable showing my upper arms. But, in the summer it’s way too hot for a jacket or traditional cardigan, so this cardigan is perfect! Plus it goes with almost everything! And the pleat in the back makes it nice and blousy. I love it!

You Are Awesome Cotton Tote Bag – Retail Value $11.99, Listed Value $30

I don’t always feel awesome, so it is really nice to be reminded! I can always use more tote bags, and this one is a good, sturdy cotton canvas. It also folds easily, making it great to keep handy without taking up too much space. I also really like the inner pocket which enables it to be used as a purse if necessary.

Verdict: This month’s package from My Fashion Crate, was one of my favorites so far! Last month was a little bit of a bust for me, so I was really happy to get such cute and useful items this month. I really liked both the clothing items a lot! I also felt like they made a bit of a trade for quality over quantity by including the Mirabella gift set instead of several less expensive individual items. I like that!

  1. I picked up a mystery bag and got the same two clothing items. That cardigan has impossible to release wrinkles that lasted through a wash and dry.

  2. I’m not a fan of the partial sleeves, but I do love the asymmetrical front of that striped top.

  3. You look really cute in that striped top! Nice review. I’m always interested in this box, for there are not a lot of everyday clothing boxes where you keep all the items and pay a flat sub fee up front. I would love to see the quality of the clothing and accessories go up a bit. I’d pay a little more too.

Lux Catch, Golden Tote and My Fashion Crate appear to be it for non athletic wear subs of this type of business model.

I still think there is a hole in the subscription box market that people would love to see offered. For a flat fee, you keep all the items, but a lounge wear clothing box. How many of us come home from work and immediately change into comfy clothes. Or work from home? Or are recuperating from a long illness or have a chronic illness?

I would love a bi-monthly box where you get a lounge top, bottom and a third item which changes from box to box such as socks, a bralette, robe, beanie, scarf, etc. It would be nice to add a self care item like a journal, candle, lotion, set of bath bombs, etc and a book, of which you could choose between literary fiction, self help, mystery, romance, sci fi, non-fiction, and fantasy.

The book could be an add on or not. I don’t know. I envision this as an introverts box but extroverts like to be comfy too, so perhaps one tier for the lounge outfit (3 items), another for the addition of the self care item and book. It is important that self help is a specified book genre you can select, in case you are more interested in a “growth style” subscription. Or you can choose another genre if you are more interested in escaping reality for a while by getting into a good novel. Having the genres makes it a little customizable. And the clothing in this box must be offered in all sizes.

Someone make a box like this! I don’t have the funds or access to “backers,” so … take this idea and run with it, please. 🙂
