Gwynnie Bee is a clothing rental subscription service that formerly catered to plus sizes, but now is far more inclusive in offering sizes 0-32! Gwynnie Bee allows you to select items you like and they are put in a virtual closet. The chosen items sent to you are at random, but you can select priority pieces to be sent to you first. I started using the service and I can say I always have a lot of fun with this box!
Gwynnie Bee is a clothing rental service, but they also have a marketplace on their site where you can buy strongly discounted used rental pieces and brand new accessories, underwear, and work out gear as well! Gwynnie Bee May 2019 Review
This review is of the one item at a time for three items that I received May 1st, 2019:
Bell Sleeve Floral Dress by Connected Apparel Size 18—Retail Value $26.50
I am a sucker for a bell sleeve due to my love of 60s and 70s fashions, so this piece was an absolute must! This piece has such stunning details on the floral design—it is far more intricate the closer you examine the fabric. I appreciate the 95% polyester and 5% spandex blend of the material; it has ample stretch and hugs my curves well! The fabric is light enough to wear in our late spring/early summer weather, but I can see this dress turning heads in the fall with patterned tights, booties, and a large rimmed hat.
Painted Leopard Tie Waist Mahlia Dress by Leota Size 2L—Retail Value $61
If you are new to my reviews, let it be known that I am a fiend for all that is leopard print. It is a perfect neutral and looks great with solids and other patterns alike. When I saw this pink variation of leopard print, you bet I had to closet this piece! This is my favorite selection in this month’s box! Leota is a brand I am rather familiar with: their cuts are classic and ultra-flattering. They design pieces to honor all women’s shapes and sizes well. This tie-waist dress defines my midsection perfectly and makes me feel like a stone cold fox. This is perfect for the office or a date. I wore these with my go-to warm weather shoes: black jellies. This piece is incredibly comfortable and easy to wear which gives it even more bonus points!
Tie Neck Dot Print Top by Modcloth Size 2x—Retail Value $30.50
I love the Modcloth brand because of its retro meets modern styles, so of course, this pussy bow polka dot blouse appealed to me! When I closeted this top, I was under the impression it was white with red dots. Upon receiving it, I was surprised to see the cornflower blue dots as well. Not mad about it, I just had to do a double take when unboxing. The blouse fits immensely well, the cut is designed to fit the body without being too tight or form-fitting.
This top fits like a dream and looked great with my dark denim jeans and mustard yellow mules, but I wanted to show another way to style it as well. Here I styled it tucked into a denim dress featured in my most recent Dia & Co review, loafer style mules, and a pair of black cat eyes for extra retro flair!
Verdict: Gwynnie Bee was the first clothing subscription box I reviewed and it remains one of my favorites! I love the ability to rent pieces to potentially own rather than feeling compelled to buy the pieces. It truly allows you to try out new trends and styles you may have been shying away from before! I suggest this service all the time to friends that are starting new jobs and need pieces for work, but also to those in between sizes. A service like Gwynnie Bee helps with those periods where you may not want to invest in a whole new wardrobe, but allows you look stylish while getting to expand your fashion tastes! You can’t beat that free first-month trial as well - what’s not to love?
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! All three pieces are available to rent or purchase at Gwynnie Bee.
Value Breakdown: Gwynnie Bee’s costs range depending on your subscription and how many items you are sent at a time. I have the $95 three item at a time plan. This includes free shipping and returns. I can get as many pieces as I like monthly, as long as I return each item first. I got three items this month, but I could get several pieces sent to me in a month’s time if I return each piece after wearing promptly. The three items total up to $118, which is $23 more than my monthly subscription fee!. Imagine the value if I had returned these pieces and received even more!
