Included in our box was an issue of the Gentleman’s Post which is basically a booklet that describes the theme for the month and highlights the items included in our box. This month they are honoring their favorite Duke of Cambridge, Prince William.

We also received this card and coupon for 15% off at watch retailer North Accent’s online site, which I have to admit, I found a bit odd considering one of our items is a watch from a different brand. Although the two styles are much different, so maybe it’s not that odd?

The Dapper Cats Pocket Square – Listed Value $10

Our first item is this blue paisley pocket square. I like the denim look of the outer edge and the paisley is nice, but it feels a bit too casual to pair with a nice suit for work. This might be better paired with a blazer and jeans look, but I admit I know nothing about men’s fashion so that could be wrong too! My husband wasn’t a huge fan of this design either.

The Dapper Cats Plaid Tie – Listed Value $23.00

This tie is nice and maybe even a little patriotic with its red, white, and blue plaid. This pattern is actually really interesting to look at visually, and while it could feel a little busy, the darker background helps to tone it down some.

I know you would never wear the pocket square this way, but I had him try it on just so you could get a feel for the style. The tie is really nice and a good style for my husband to wear to work!

Northern Sole Socks – Listed Value $14.00

These socks are a blend of 80% cotton, 15% polyester, 3% spandex and 2% nylon, and they look like a pretty basic pair of dress socks that you can find almost anywhere. These will be great for my husband to wear to work and I like that they tie into the patriotic red, white, and blue vibe of our box.

W.M. Marrison Rose Gold Watch – Listed Value $60.00

This watch is really unique for my husband and I know he would never choose rose gold, but he said he really liked the face of this watch – the style and the colors. I think the two dials in the center for the day and date look nice, but seeing as they aren’t actually functional, it makes this watch feel more like a costume accessory. The band also feels a bit cheap and the clasp already seems like it is starting to tarnish so I’m not as impressed with the quality as I was with the aesthetic appearance.

Here I have my husband modeling the watch on. I also tried it on for a little comparison! I think the large face looks nice, but both my husband and I felt that the band was a bit too slender to really support the look of the large face of the watch. He says he’d definitely wear the watch if we were able to switch out the band, although I’m not quite so sure we can do that with this one.

Gentlemen of the North Lapel Pin – Listed Value $15.00

This lapel pin is not something I can see my husband wearing, but seeing as the inclusion of this item supports a great charity cause, I think it is a nice touch! A portion of GOTN’s proceeds will go towards sending underprivileged youths in Toronto to summer basketball camps through the Lay-Up Youth Basketball program. The lapel pin itself is nice and kind of reminds me of a wax letter seal!

Verdict: This month’s Gentleman’s Box had a nice summer vibe with all of the red and blue items that felt very patriotic, although I guess considering our honoree, it was meant to represent a different red, white, and blue flag! Either way, it works and the cohesive feel made for a nice box. My husband will definitely get some use out of the tie and socks, but I’m not so sure he will be able to make the pocket square and lapel pin work. Although, these are items you might not know you need until you do!  The total listed value is $122 and even though about half of that is the watch, whose quality was a bit disappointing, I’d still say we received a fair value overall, especially when you consider the average value of each of the 5 items is only $5.80.

                  To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes! Order by the end of June for the June box.

                  1. I never understand why they put those dials on a watch, if they don’t work. No sense and does just make it feel cheap.
