This card details the items in the box and provides some tips on how to use them. Now, on to the items!

Birchbox Sample Choice June 2019 eye masks

Birchbox Sample Choice June 2019 eye mask backs

Wander Beauty Baggage Claim Gold Eye Masks, 2 pairs - Estimated Value: $8.33 (Buy a 6-pack for $25)

These gold eye masks are a nice treat for your skin. They help brighten under your eyes with key botanicals and oils, including aloe leaf, calendula, lavender, shea butter, jojoba, and camu camu fruit. I don't have significant issues with under-eye circles, so I can't speak to their effect in that way as much, but my eyes do feel refreshed and hydrated after using. These were the item I chose for my sample selection this month, but I ended up also getting 2 other products that were sample selection options too!

Birchbox Sample Choice June 2019 exfolator

Suki Exfoliate Foaming Cleanser, .25 fl oz - Estimated Value: $2.28 (Buy a 4 oz full-size for $36.55)

This cleanser is very gritty because it's a sugar scrub. It feels like you can get a really good scrub but doesn't feel particularly harsh with the lemongrass, chamomile, and cleansing formula. I don't necessarily love the scent of lemongrass but it definitely helps wake me up and perks up my senses.

Birchbox Sample Choice June 2019 oribe

Oribe Supershine Moisturizing Cream, .5 fl oz - Estimated Value: $5.20 (Buy a 5 oz full-size for $52)

Oribe never lets me down. All of their products that I have tried smell so great and work effectively. I tried this Supershine cream on towel-dried hair before drying. I only need a really small amount because my hair is short and fine. I think this particular product would make the most difference for someone with curly hair, or fuller/thicker hair, but for me, it still adds a nice, soft polish that smells good.

Birchbox Sample Choice June 2019 eye brush

Luxie Beauty 239 Precision Shader Rose Gold Brush - Retail Value: $14

I love getting brushes in subscription boxes because they are non-consumable and therefore a long-lasting value. The Luxie brushes I've been sent are soft, blend/perform well, and don't shed.

This was one of the other items available to choose as a sample selection. Even though I chose the eye masks, I still got this and the eye shadow below, somehow. This seems to be happening more lately. They must have just had extra unclaimed items and wanted to feature them to as many subscribers in that month.

Winky Lux Latte Kitten Palette Sample Shade, Chai - Estimated Value: $2.78 (Buy the full-size, 9-shade palette for $25)

Birchbox sent out samples of individual eye shadow colors that are part of a full size, 9-shadow palette. I received the color Chai. It's a pretty, golden shimmer shade that you can see swatched below. It's a great shade! I'm not usually keen on using a bunch of individually-potted shadows - I'd rather have a palette to choose from all at once for simplicity in my makeup bag. But once I put this on alone to model for this review, I liked it enough all by itself as a bright, simple, summer eye without feeling like it needed a crease and corner color to make it look right. The formula is pretty good. I noticed some powdery-ness in the pan when picking it up with my brush, but I didn't have much issue with fallout during application to my lid.

Smith & Cult The Shining Lip Lacquer, The Warning, Full Size! - Retail Value: $22

First of all, Smith & Cult's packaging is just gorgeous in general. Secondly, I've never tried their gloss but I'm really liking this! The formula is actually a little more sheer so it's not quite as intense to wear as it looks in the tube; you're not committing to a super red lip all day with this. At first, it felt somewhat sticky, but it was still comfortable and I noticed that even after that layer of moisture absorbed/wore off, I was left with a nice tint on my lips for most of the day. I love the slight shimmer to this, too - it makes it brighten your whole look. I know I'll wear this a lot this summer!

Here are the lip gloss and the eye shadow swatched for you.

And here is how the eyeshadow and lip gloss look on my face. Like I said earlier, I normally do a full 3-shade eye look but I'm happy with how this shadow looks by itself, especially in the summer when I generally like to lighten things up anyway. And this lip gloss is a great punch of brightness to any look, and easier to wear than I expected it to be from the tube.

Verdict: This was a really nice Birchbox for me! I got to try a couple different new products from brands I already love, and also got two full-size products in my box (the brush and lip gloss). I know I'll use up everything they sent me this month. I estimated that this box has a value of $54.59, which is an excellent value out of a $15 box! And I'm happy to see it's almost twice the value from last month's box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Sample choice boxes are curated based on your beauty profile, so what you get will likely differ from what I received this month (but should be even more personalized to you).

My box was a real disappointment. After the big Birchbox promotion claiming that it was getting bigger and better, I resubscribed after being a former member for years. So far after two boxes, it’s more of the same. Every single item in my box was something I had received at least once from other boxes. Had I received the Smith & Cult liquid lip, I may have thought differently.

Absolutely love your reviews it is so nice to see the products actually modeled. You look gorgeous and your hair is so pretty, is this with the Oribe?

Those Wander Beauty eye masks burned my skin so badly they left two bright red strips under my eyes, I had to steam my face with hot water for 10 minutes to get all the chemicals out of my skin. Yikes!

That lip gloss looks so pretty. I learned very quickly to not judge any lip product by its picture, as I’ve found many lip products that look super bold or “just not for me” end up swatching and wearing beautifully on me once I try it on. 🙂

That lip gloss looks so pretty on your smiling face & I love that the red doesn’t come shining through.
