Yes, Oh Yas! March 2019 Review

This month includes all makeup products. Let's see what look we can create with them!

A card is included with the savings percentage that YOY calculates for the included items.

IBY Beauty Cheek to Cheek Blush Palette in Blush Duo Peachy - $16

Not only does this blush perform well, but it also has super cute packaging too! I love that the compact is sturdy enough to travel with, has magnetic closures, and has two mirrors. Both of these peachy tones are matte and super pigmented. I make sure to tap my brush on the back of my hand or a tissue before applying to avoid overapplication. The flush of color lasts all day and leaves a buttery soft texture on my cheeks without grabbing at any dryness.

Mirabella Eye Crayon in Semisweet - $20

This shade is an interesting burgundy-brown that applies rich and dark. It blends ok over the lid but tends to crease over the course of the day for me. I prefer to use it on my lower waterline to create a smoky look that looks good even when it smudges. Setting with a powder works to help it stay put but it tends to grab and not blend well when applied OVER a powder.

Moira Lush Matte Lip Cream in Butter Cream 19 - $7

I didn't think I'd like this color, but I think it's actually a pretty color for my fair skin. Initially, it feels soft and plush and the large, flexible applicator makes application easy. I like to use two coats because it can look a little streaky after just one coat. It feels a little tacky at first but sets totally matte and is surprisingly less drying than expected. My favorite part is that, when it starts to wear off (after eating or talking a lot), it looks pretty natural and not gunky like a lot of liquid lipsticks.

Doucce Ultra Precision Kohl Eyeliner in 500 - $22

As far as Kohl liners go, I think this is priced a little steep considering I've found others that work well for much less. It's still a decent liner though. It glides on with a smooth, creamy consistency and rich color and I can apply it to my waterline without irritation. It's easily smudged out for a softer look and it continues to smoke out during the day, which could be good or bad depending on the look I'm trying to achieve. Sharpening traditional pencils like this is always a bit messy, so make sure you do so over a trash can.

Bella Terra Mascara in Pitch Black - $19.99

Look at this gigantic spoolie! That must be what makes this mascara apply with a light, feathery look. The formula is on the dryer side which means it takes more work to get the right amount of product on my lashes but makes less mess overall. I don't love it enough to repurchase though. There are just too many other fantastic mascaras out there and many at a more affordable price point.

Here are the swatches (from left to right): Doucce eyeliner, Mirabella eye crayon, Moira lip cream, and IBY blushes.

For my look this month, I had to go a little smoky. I started by sculpting out my cheeks with the IBY blush duo Cha Cha all over my cheeks and Jive on the apples of my cheeks. For my eyes, I applied the Mirabella Eye Crayon directly to my lids and lower lashline and smudged with my fingertips. Then I went in with the Doucce Kohl Eyeliner to darken my waterline, top and bottom. Two coats of Moira Lush Matte Lip Cream and my muted smoky look was complete.

Verdict: This month, Yes, Oh Yas! sent items that work well together for a muted smoky look. Each item is full size, as promised, and the total value is $84.99. My favorite products are the Moira Lip Cream and the IBY Blush Duo. While I'm glad to try them out, I don't think the three eye products are worth the price to repurchase. But, I'll certainly use them up. At a cost of $14.99 + $3.99 for all full-size products, Yes, Oh Yas! is a low-risk way to try a wide variety of beauty and cosmetic items on a monthly basis.
