Now onto the goodies!
Classic PB&J by a brand I know and love, Bob’s Red Mill. I wasn’t disappointed in this chewy, nostalgic bar. It is a tasty and filling snack to keep on hand when either your sweet tooth or hanger strikes! Although this bar has a simple, healthy ingredients list, it does have quite a bit of sugar and carbohydrates; I love this as a yummy treat yourself moment and breakfast on the go though!
Modern Oats Premium Oatmeal Cup, 1.76oz – Buy a case of 12 for $35.99
I love oatmeal in the morning for a quick breakfast, especially in a cup like this for convenience on the go (even though I hate the waste the packaging creates). This cinnamon apple flavor with a smidge of ginger was a yummy treat, and with only 9 grams of sugar and 5 grams of protein, I felt like this wholesome oatmeal quenched my hunger up until lunchtime.
Lebby Milk Chocolate Chickpea Snacks, 3.5oz – Buy a 6 pack for $27.99
This is the most shocking treat in this month’s box. I love when brands get creative – I’ve never heard of chocolate covered chickpeas, but it really works. Delicious! These little balls aren’t quite crunchy, and they satisfy the urge for sweet and salty. Of course, anything you dip in chocolate is going to have lots of sugar, but if I can pop a few sweet balls in my mouth and also benefit from their protein and fiber, I’ll take it!
This tiny, luscious bite is a rich little morsel! You really can’t beat chocolate and coconut, in my opinion. This take on a macaron is gluten-free, raw, vegan and non-GMO. This cookie is tiny, yet packs in 100 calories, 6 grams of sugar and 8 grams of fat.
Popcorners Kettle Corn Popped Snack, .5oz – Buy 12 7oz bags for $30
Yum!! Kettle corn is a fave here, and they really managed to pack so much of that sweet and salty goodness into a chip. With only 4 ingredients, this popped chip is non-GMO, gluten-free, nut-free and vegan. This little bag only has 60 calories, a great wholesome and satisfying snack!
I received the flavor cranberry toasted almond, and at first bite, I found it bland, but I am starting to come around. This definitely has more of a health-food taste than I like, but the nuts and cranberries throughout add to that making it pretty appetizing. This bar is gluten, GMO, soy and dairy free. Each bar contains 240 calories, 12 grams of protein and 12 grams of sugar, a pretty average nutrient list for a bar of this type.
Skratch Labs Anytime Energy Bar, 1.8oz – Retail Value $2.65
This dense, heavy bar does not spark joy. This sticky bar contains some of my very favorite simple ingredients like chocolate chips, cranberries, and many different nuts, so I thought for sure it would be more palatable… but I ended up not finishing this one. It is vegan, made in the USA is also GMO and gluten-free. With only 4 grams of protein and 200 calories, this isn’t a bar I would reach for anyway, so I don’t feel like I am missing out.
Barnana Brazillian BBQ Plantain Chips, 1.5oz – Buy a 5oz bag for $5.19
This chip delivers a powerful crunch; the dehydrated plantains are coated in a savory yet tangy spice that keeps me reaching for more! I also love that they are ridged, adding a really nice texture to each piece. This snack has great ingredients, but the nutritional value doesn’t seem too impressive, so I’d treat these as I would any normal chip and try not to indulge too much.
Wow Baking Company Gluten-Free Snickerdoodle, 1oz – Buy an 8oz bag for $4.99
I have to admit that this cookie blew me away! Its fluffy texture and flavor had me double checking the labels–yep–gluten-free! I’ve never fully enjoyed a gluten-free cookie, but this one is soft, moist and very tasty!
Go Organically Organic Fruity Snacks Fruit Medley, .8oz – Buy a box of 42 for $14.99
Go Organically Organic Fruity Snacks Mixed Berry, .8oz – Buy a box of 42 for $14.99
SnackSack sampled two varieties of fruit snacks this month, Fruit Medley and Mixed Berry. Even though they are from the same brand, the fruit medley pack had a little more flavor and a chewier texture, whereas the mixed berry blend was a bit harder to chew. Regardless, they were both fruity treats that I enjoyed. Each pack contains 100% of your daily value of vitamin C, 70 calories and 12 grams of sugar.
The Snack Brigade Cheesy Cheddar Puffs, .74oz – Buy a 5oz bag for $6.99
SnackSack would not be complete without at least one puffed treat, and they don’t call these Incredi-Puffs for nothing! Super cheesy and crunchy, these satisfy all my puff prerequisites and more, and with only 100 calories for this generous portion, I could see these easily becoming a new favorite.
Verdict: SnackSack had some surprising and delightful finds this month. Looking through my box of mostly empty wrappers, I am impressed by how many different, new to me brands were sampled this month, which makes this subscription well worth the cost for me. I love venturing out and trying new foods, and I find that Snacksack is the perfect vessel if you’re looking for healthier alternatives to what you might find on a normal grocery store shelf.
