Shoedazzle 90s Style Chunky White Sneakers Review
Talia Chunky Sole Sneakers, Size 8 – Retail Price $59.95, Member Price $39.95
I’ve been eyeing up Shoedazzle’s sneaker offerings for a while now. They have a pretty wide variety—soft, mesh sneakers make for athletic adventures, wedge sneakers, and fashionable, day-to-day looks, too. This “Talia” pair appealed to me most because of how versatile they are. The simplicity of the white shoe and small gold detail is the kind of thing I could wear with jeans or to the gym.
The first thing I noticed about these chunky sneakers was how light they are. The soles are a thick marshmallow-light foam that has just enough give to keep them comfy as I walk. They’re not as dreamy as cushy-soled sneakers I’ve gotten from Nike or Adidas, but they’re solid enough for walking around my neighborhood. There are plenty of neat little details to keep them interesting, too—snakeskin-patterned panels, stitching details, and dotted sections on the soles. The color of the faux-leather uppers is a softer white (it’s more of an eggshell tone), and the soles and laces are more crisp (think a cooler-toned snowy white).
I could see myself switching out the laces eventually, just because I find that these round laces don’t seem to stay tied as securely as flat laces do. Plus I kind of like the look of flat laces on a sneaker. A bright color or pattern could really pop on this pair, too!
The Verdict: So, as usual, Shoedazzle really aces it in terms of capturing a trendy aesthetic. These chunky sneakers are the perfect midpoint between the super retro chunky “dad” sneakers I’ve been seeing lately and simple, modern sneakers that go with anything. One thing I’ll say is that I probably wouldn’t consider these if they were set at their almost $60 retail value. For almost $40? That’s a little closer to the quality I feel like I’m getting. I’ll get plenty of wear out of them this summer, for sure, but I can’t say they’re on par with big-name sneakers at similar price points in terms of comfort and quality.
