QVC Beauty Shawn's Favorites April 2019 Review

Here is the info sheet for the box that lists the product sizes and ingredients.

The back of the box had some more information about the products included.

St. Tropez Purity Tanning Mousse, 1.69 oz – Estimated Value $10.50 (buy the full-size version for $42)

I have never been big on self-tanning (I am super pale and I embrace it), but I was interested in the concept of a tanning mousse. This had a lovely tropical scent, and I thought applying the mousse with the included mitt was super easy and no hassle- I could definitely see this becoming an easy addition to my self-care routine. I didn’t notice a super drastic difference in the color of my legs, but I also didn’t notice any streaks.

St. Tropez Applicator Mitt – Retail Value $6.50

This mitt is simple, but wow did it make a difference in how easy it was to apply the self-tanner. While self-tanning isn’t something I take too seriously right now, if that changes using a mitt is officially a must for me.

First Aid Beauty Ultra Repair Cream in Pink Grapefruit, 2 oz – Retail Value $12

I love the unscented version of this ultra-nourishing cream, and I thought I would love this grapefruit version, too. Unfortunately, my skin had a reaction to the citrus oils in this cream (orange peel, grapefruit, and tangerine peel oil to be exact), and rather than nourishing it, my face became an angry beast. Citrus oils won’t be an irritant for everyone, but my skin just was not in the mood to play nice with this cream.

Hand in Hand Body Wash in Cactus Blossom, 2 oz – Estimated Value $2.80 (buy the full-size version for $14)

This was a non-drying body wash that left my skin clean and smelling lightly of eucalyptus and orange. I liked it, but it wasn’t anything groundbreaking.

BUXOM Lip Pencil in Hush Hush, 0.03 oz – Estimated Value $7.71 (buy the full-size version for $18)

This isn’t the first time I have tried a Buxom lip pencil, but it did remind me how much I love them. The pencil is thick enough that you can use this just as a lip liner or as an all-over lip color with ease, and the shade Hush Hush is a great cinnamon nude that blends easily depending on the look you are going for.

Here it is swatched, with a blended swatch underneath (blended using the brush on the other end of the pencil)

NEST Fragrance in Cocoa Woods, 0.20 oz – Estimated Value $20 (buy the 0.27 oz rollerball for $27)

This is a super generous sample sized fragrance at more than two-thirds the size of the rollerball. The fragrance is a warm and spicy blend of bittersweet cocoa, Sequoia wood, sandalwood, Tiare blossom, and Thai ginger. I definitely smell the cocoa, but the wood and sandalwood balance it out so it doesn’t smell like a bakery scent. Nest makes some of my all-time favorite fragrances, and I am happy to add this to my collection. I thought the scent lasted on my skin all day, too.

Skinfix Foaming Oil Cleanser, 1 oz – Estimated Value $4.67 (buy the full-size version for $28)

This is a nourishing cleanser packed with hydrating ingredients like jojoba, aloe, Panthenol (also known as vitamin b5), and hyaluronic acid. I thought it was gentle and did a good job of cleansing without drying out my skin.

ADESSE NY Nail Polish in Snow on the Lilacs, Full-Size! Retail Value $20

This is a pretty glitter polish set in a clear base with lavender shimmer and large silver glitter. Since the base is clear I recommend using this layered on top of another shade, but I love the amount of sparkle one coat provided.

Here is a swatch with two coats and no top coat.

The Verdict: The QVC beauty boxes usually have a good value, and I think this is one of the better ones I have seen from them! The big winner for me is the Nest Fragrances perfume, but other than the First Aid Beauty moisturizer I liked everything in the box. Value-wise I calculated a total value of $78.18, which I think is awesome considering the cost of the box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? Yes, this box is still available!

Coupon: New customers can use coupon code TAKE10 to save $10 on your first order!

Value Breakdown: This box cost $23.50 ($20 + $3.50 shipping) and I calculated a total value of $78.18. That means you’re paying approximately the following per sample:

  • St. Tropez Mousse: $3.15
  • St. Tropez Mitt: $1.95
  • First Aid Beauty: $3.61
  • Hand in Hand: $0.84
  • Buxom: $2.32
  • Nest Fragrances: $6.01
  • Skinfix: $1.40
  • Adesse NY:$6.01

I am a staunch believer that pineapple doesn’t belong on pizza and when I’m not working as a family law attorney I enjoy hiking the Louisiana trails (alligator sightings are a favorite!) or relaxing with Duchess, my cat. I’m a sucker for anything labeled a mystery box and I’ve never met a bath bomb I didn’t like.

My all time favorite fragrance is Moroccan Amber from Nest. I would bathe in it if I could!

Huh. I never thought to use the first aid stuff on your face. I have oily skin on my face, so maybe that’s why. I’ve always used in on elbows, feet, etc.

If all else fails use it on your feet. First Aid products are way too rich and heavy for my skin.

Oh wow, I never thought of even trying the First Aid Beauty on anywhere but my face! Dang learn something new everyday!

I buy a tub of it every December to get my legs through winter. Lol

Yes the fab breaks my face out so I use it on my hands. Good tip for elbows and feet though. The buxom lip pencil is great too. I really like the brush on the end to for smoothing out the harsh lip line.

I’m so tempted to get this because of the perfume. I love Nest fragrances as well. The scents are unique, the bottles are gorgeous and the formula lasts a long time. I wouldn’t mind have the Adesse but I already have several similar topcoats. As for the rest, my subscription addiction has left me positively overloaded with similar products. Plus there’s the shameful fact that I am completely unable to use self tanner without leaving streaks no matter what the product or how it’s applied. I can’t even use the gradual lotion type like Jergens. 😄
