Found Dogs by Erica Sirotich - Retail Value $16.99 (found on sale here for $13.66)

This book is simple but adorable. I love the illustration style. It has your child counting up the rescue dogs and then counting back down again as they all find loving homes. My son had fun with this book, and it's an easy read for bedtime.

I Love You for Miles and Miles by Alison Goldberg - Retail Value $17.08

I think my favorite children's books are ones that repeat to my child how much I love him. This book is a lyrical expression of love from a father to his son (at least in the illustration - though nothing in the text specifies this and it's a great read for any vehicle loving kid!). The art is as sweet as the words repeating: "My love for you is longer than the longest train... and stronger than the strongest excavator..." We loved reading this one together.

The Verdict: This was my sixth box from Amazon Prime Books Kids, and I love the selections we got this month. I chose the 3-5-year-old option for my 3-year-old. I really appreciate that I get an email before it ships so I can swap out and select which two books to get each time, and I trust Amazon's customer service if I have any issues. This really helps to make sure we get books I know we'll like, and having new books to read has helped bedtime go much more smoothly. Gideon looks forward to it because we'll read a fun, fresh, new story. For $19.99 a month plus free Prime shipping, we received two books with a total value of $34.07.

To Wrap Up:

Can you get this box if you sign up today? I'm not sure of exactly when Amazon swaps out their selection choices for the month, but if you sign up today it's likely that you'll get the selections for April.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $19.99 which means you are paying approximately the following per item:

  • Found Dogs: $9.96
  • I Love You for Miles and Miles: $10.02

If they can lower the cost and make it more of a value that would be better… otherwise I’ld just rather go to the library or order from a scholastic book club.

I like the idea of this subscription, but havent subbed bc I dont really like all their picks (see below). I will keep watching and reading the reviews 🙂

The numbers book would be better placed in the 0-2 age and used as an introduction to numbers in their early age. I have a child that is 3-5yr old, and this book is not engaging/exciting/challenging enough.
