Skin & Co March 2019 Discovery Bag Review
This box didn’t come with an info sheet, but I did get a cute baby jar of Nutella! This purchase also included a $10 gift card that arrived in my inbox a few days after purchasing this.
We also received a bag with a beautiful Italian ocean view. Products from Skin & Co focus on the Umbrian truffle, and some of these products do have a faint earthy scent to my nose. It doesn’t bother me, and it dissipates quickly.
Truffle Therapy Toner, 1.7 oz – Estimated Value $13.60 (buy the 1 oz version for $8)
I absolutely love this toner - it is one of the most gentle toners I have ever tried, and it adds a nice hydrating layer which will help your serums absorb better. This toner is a blend of black winter truffle, calendula, cucumber, and rosemary, so it’s soothing while also fighting damage caused by free radicals.
Truffle Therapy Serum, 0.24 oz - Retail Value $15
This serum is made with the signature truffle extract along with Hyaluronic Acid, hibiscus extract, rose hips, and allantoin. Combined this fights environmental damage while also nourishing the skin, and I love how this soaks into my skin and makes it feel so hydrated.
Truffle Therapy Ultra-Pure Facial Oil, 0.17 oz - Retail Value $15
I love facial oils for how nourishing they can be to my skin - I keep my mini Indie Lee Squalane oil by my bed within reach for any middle of the night hydration needs I may have. If you have oily skin you’ll probably be more comfortable using this blend of truffle extract, sweet almond oil, carrot extract, and calendula at night time, and it blends in great over your moisturizer to seal in all of that hydration.
Truffle Therapy Anti-Age Regenerative Face Cream, 0.34 oz - Retail Value $14
This cream is a blend of truffle extract, shea butter, Aloe Vera, Hyaluronic Acid, and vitamin E. It really just sinks into your skin, and even though it is incredibly nourishing it's not heavy. This isn’t my personal favorite moisturizer just because anti-aging isn’t one of my skincare concerns right now, but I still appreciate how hydrating it is.
Truffle Therapy Face Gommage, 1 oz – Retail Value $8
This is, without a doubt, the most gentle exfoliating face wash I have ever used. When I first used it I thought I had grabbed the whipped cleansing cream by mistake! This is made with ground apricot kernel for exfoliation, but the exfoliation is mild and not abrasive at all. This is perfect for sensitive skin. I prefer using chemical exfoliation rather than physical, but I am always happy to use this gentle scrub.
Umbrian Truffle Hand Cream, 0.33 oz – Estimated Value $3.96 (buy the 1 oz version for $12)
This hand cream is great for dry skin thanks to shea butter and sweet almond oil, and it has a light fig scent. This small size is perfect for throwing in my purse for on-the-go hydration.
Whipped Cleansing Cream, 0.1 oz – Estimated Value $1 (buy the 1 oz version for $10)
This whipped cleansing cream has a lovely light texture, and it is formulated with truffle extract and sweet almond oil for added hydration while it cleanses. This is incredibly gentle and would be great for sensitive skin. The texture is seriously dreamy, and I actually own the full size of this cleanser after picking it up as a FabFitFun add-on.
Truffle Therapy Eye Concentrate, 0.1 oz – Estimated Value $13.04 (buy the 0.23 oz version for $30)
This eye cream is so pricy, but it's another product from Skin & Co that I love (and buy at a discount during the FFF Add-on sales!). Where it shines for me is that it adds great hydration without being too heavy- I focus on using hydrating eye creams in the hopes of preventing crow's feet, and I am happily using this one for that purpose. I don't get puffy eyes so I can't speak to those claims, and to be honest I am not sure if this brightens or not- I just like how it feels on my skin and that it doesn't irritate my eyes.
The Verdict: I honestly thing Skin & Co is the best brand out there for sensitive skin - everything I have tried from them is hydrating, nourishing, and gentle. This kit contained a great mix of samples, and I really like that we even got a $10 gift card that can be used on anything with no strings attached! Value-wise, I calculated a total value of $92.60 (including the gift card), and I think that is great for a discovery kit.
