Nosejoy March 2019 "Backyard Garden" Review
Nosejoy usually sends a welcome card with a note from the sub's curator and an info slip that gives a little description of each item in your box. Sometimes there are even subscriber discount codes, but not this month. This theme is such a fitting way to welcome spring. The note from Emily ignites all sorts of images of the joy of gardening, and the items in the box are great things to use to come indoors, clean up, and kick up your feet after an afternoon in the sun.
AWSB Wild Carrot Soap Bar, 3.5 oz — Retail Value $6.50
What is it about a fresh bar of handmade soap that just makes my soul feel whole? This shea butter and goat's milk bar is suitable for face and body and is dusted with "wild carrot powder"—a new concept to me!—for exfoliation. It just goes to show that there are so many options out there for natural exfoliation materials that aren't environment-harming microbeads. In terms of the carrot-y-ness of this bar, I guess it smells carrot-y? All I can really think to compare it to is the scent of carrot juice and I suppose it's similar, though milder. Either way, it's natural and quite nice!
elizabethW Rosemary Lavender Shower and Bath Pouch, 6 oz — Retail Value $12
Nosejoy always includes at least one really unique, original good-smelling offering in their boxes and this month it's this shower and bath pouch. It's got an overwhelming rosemary scent (in a good way!) radiating from it, and a soft terry cloth material containing its contents. The idea is for the locally-sourced sea salts, from the San Fransisco Bay, to dissolve in the water and soften the skin. The salt is mixed with rosemary and California poppy extracts that offer that incredible aroma. As a new mother, this sounds like the perfect way to make a quick shower feel like a spa day!
I always like to call out when Nosejoy products have conscious elements to their production, and this pouch is paraben-free and cruelty-free. Yes!
Rosebud Perfume Co. Strawberry Lip Balm, 0.8 oz — Retail Value $8
The classic lip balm! Who else had this back in the day? I actually received one of these in another subscription box a few months ago and it took me back. I was telling my cousin about it and she joined me in a trip down memory lane, so I'm thrilled to be able to send her this one. It's so smooth on the lips, smells and tastes perfectly sweet, is made in the USA, and is cruelty-free and gluten-free.
Mixture Fresh Cut Grass Votive Candle, 2 oz — Listed Value $10.99
I was so curious to know what a fresh-cut grass scent would be like, and eagerly buried my nose in this votive immediately. I guess the true scent of freshly cut grass is hard to capture, but this soy candle does have a fresh, springy vibe to its aroma, so it works for me. I like its bright glass container, too! It adds a nice pop of color to my mantle.
Simplified Soap Oatmeal, Milk, and Honey Lotion, 2 oz — Retail Value $6.25
Nosejoy has sent travel-size products from this company before and they're such a nice experience. Rather than trying to paraphrase it, here are the great features of this lotion from the Simplified Soap website:
This seriously luxurious lotion contains goat's milk, honey and natural shea butter. Goat's milk is high in proteins, triglycerides, vitamins A, B6, B12 and E. All of these make this lotion an excellent moisturizer. Honey is a natural antioxidant and anti-inflammatory agent. Natural shea butter aids in healing and skin regeneration. Your skin will thank you for this lotion!
It has a nice, neutral scent and is very smooth on the hands.
Verdict: I really liked the theme of this month's Nosejoy box and felt it was well-executed. The products covered a nice mix of lesser-seen and familiar scents, but all are a treat for the nose! Value-wise, this month's items well exceeded the cost of the box (which is $34.95 with free shipping) by adding up to $42.74. This is a great value and not uncommon for this box!
