Also included is a card, with tips on goal setting.

Let's dive in!

CosmoBox January 2019 RX bar CosmoBox January 2019 RX bar back CosmoBox January 2019 RX bar open detail

RX Bar - Listed Value $4.00 (Buy 12 bars for $20.67)

I love these bars and frequently have them close at hand for when I know I will be eating a meal later than expected or will be facing the temptation to binge on junk food. They have 12 g of protein and taste really great! I am a sucker for any snack that is a mix of salty and sweet, and while I love this Peanut Butter Chocolate flavor, the sea salt flavor is by far my favorite!

CosmoBox January 2019 body cream with box CosmoBox January 2019 body cream CosmoBox January 2019 body cream open detail

Copper + Crane Melting Body Soufflé, 4.2 oz - Retail Value $30.00

This looks so pretty on my nightstand with its elegant metallic lid and minimal design. In addition to being beautifully packaged, this tub of nourishing body butter is also really large! The smell is creamy, floral, and a little musky, but not overpowering. The formula has large amounts of Argan and avocado oil, which makes it truly pampering and hydrating for your skin. I really enjoyed using this on my legs before bed and waking up to super smooth stems in the morning.

CosmoBox January 2019 badass book CosmoBox January 2019 badass book cover flap CosmoBox January 2019 badass book back cover

You Are A Badass Every Day by Jen Sincero - Retail Value $20.00 (found here for $14.00)

I read the original You are a Badass book and really enjoyed it very much. I am not at all into self-help books but I found Jen to be really witty, smart, engaging, and very funny. This shorter and more concise book focuses on being a badass every single day by staying motivated and chasing your goals. It is a departure from the original book in that it is smaller and much less wordy, but fans of Sincero's work will love adding this to their collection.

Tea Forte Kati Cup - Retail Value $20.00 (found here for $15.00)

This little mug is SO heavy! Like most things from this brand, the quality s beyond great. This double-walled ceramic mug comes complete with a tea filter and a ceramic lid to use while steeping and keep your tea warm if you need to step away from your desk. It also functions as a holder for the strainer when you remove it. This lid sits in the top of the mug rather than seals it, so this is likely not a traveling sort of thing unless you are the most careful and well-balanced person around. I like the sort of retro pale green color on this tumbler and the RX design is quite clever and cute.

Tea Forte Loose Leaf Tea Canister - Retail Value $15.00

We also got some tea to use in our new tumbler! This tasty blend of gunpowder green tea and mint is somehow both calming and invigorating. I love a good green, but they can go bitter so quickly! My personal trick is to use water right before it actually starts to boil because then the temperature is hot enough to brew, but not so hot that the delicate green tea leaves go bitter. I enjoyed this tea with raw sugar right before bed, as I knew its low caffeine content would allow me to relax without keeping me awake.

CosmoBox January 2019 jumprope CosmoBox January 2019 jump rope CosmoBox January 2019 jump rope handles

RX Jump Rope - Listed Value $39.99

The listed value of this jump rope seemed a little insane until I looked up the brand and saw that they do indeed range in price between $25-125. Who knew jump ropes could be so fancy? I am not going to fib to you and say that I tried this. I didn't. I am not a graceful person and I don't do well bouncing in midair. What I can tell you is that it had a great weight in my hands and the rugged black 'rope' part seemed like it would last a really long time. I wish I was the type of fit girl to take full advantage of this tool, but instead, it will be going to one of my gym-rat friends.

Verdict: This box has a retail value of approximately $128.99. That is a great value for a $35.99 box, though a big chunk of that value is tied up in that pretty jump rope. Compared to last month, this box felt like CosmoBox all grown up! I loved the tumbler with the tea and the book that I enjoyed while curled on the couch sipping away. An RX bar is always a win for me because they are so tasty and guilt-free. The body butter felt like such a treat to my skin after a hot shower. This box felt really cohesive and well thought out, and very much like a higher quality lifestyle box. I really enjoy the direction of this sub so far and can't wait for next month.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but I recommend contacting their customer care to be sure.

Value Breakdown: At $35.99 for this box ($29.99 a box + $6 shipping), here’s what you are paying approximately per item:

  • RX Bar $1.11
  • Body Butter $8.37
  • Book $5.58
  • Tumbler $5.58
  • Tea $4.19
  • Jump Rope $11.16

Alternatively, you are paying around $6.00 per item.

What do you think of the January CosmoBox

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

I’m so confused….. I just ordered this through Amazon as it’s only $25 for the first box and zero shipping!!! It states it won’t ship out until April though… Does anyone know if it’s legit through Amazon? Any help would be very much appreciated. Thanks
Liz, is there a reason I can’t get any of my comments to post? I could really use some advice on this one….

I don’t drink tea, but I do think this is a strong box with an appropriate theme for the time of year. My hero item would have been the Copper + Crane. I hope they continue on this trend. They are Cosmo this shouldn’t be hard for them. LOL

Wow, Cosmo has really stepped up; keep up the good work! There’s nothing in this box that I wouldn’t enjoy owning.

This is my first CosmoBox and I love it! I was sold when they released the spoilers. I’ve been wanting a Tea Forte cup. I received my first Copper and Crane product in December’s Glossybox and was excited to try the body cream. This was a great box!

I loved it too! It felt much much more curated than some of their others in a really good way!

I love the RX jump ropes and just for that the box is worth every penny, however the ropes are usually custom made depending on the individual’s height, weight of the cable and so on, so I am not sure how this will work for everybody. Overall this is a great box.

I hate when subscription boxes overstate the retail value of items. I love Rx bars, but saying it’s worth $4 is ridiculous. They are only $2.49 at While Foods and cheaper at places like Target.

Renee'

Is this box a monthly or not? On this site and Cosmobox’ site it says monthly but they seem to have skipped December(the Dec box reviewed here is the same as Nov box) and now February.

Megan K.

Hey Renee! As far as I know this is indeed the Jan box, but I can always doublecheck! We did go on a brief hiatus with this box but started back up recently, so let me do a little digging to make sure this isn’t Feb!

I checked my Amex account and it looks like I have paid for three boxes since 11/1 but have only received the November and January boxes. This one was supposed to be the Jan box but I have an email from Cosmo saying they were shipping the Jan box at the end of the month due to high demand for the November box. I am not sure why the Dec box did not ship but I believe I am owed one box for Feb or is that March.

For some reason I am unable to access my account so I have to rely on Amex and this blog to reconcile. It is kind of frustrating. I did love this box though which helps 🙂

Amanda

I regret not getting these. I only held back because I have the same exact mug already, but a 2nd would have made a great gift. And now I’m sad I missed out on the C & C souffle.

It looks like it’s still available, per their website.

Wow, this is a great box. Those are some of the best jump ropes out there. I would say I thought I was clumsy too, but speed jumping and double unders are just too fun!

I need like… a steel sports bra to use that thing!

OMG! I am breastfeeding my second baby and when I saw the jumping rope I felt pain- when I read your comment it cracked me up!

I loved Jan. box too. Anyone hear anything about Feb. box?

Reply ButtonReply

Megan

I haven’t. Wasn’t charged for it either. Very strange since last year their February box rocked.

Caroline

Interesting. I was charged for a box on 2/4, but never received anything. I have emailed them for answers. I had to hound them for my Jan box as well.

I enjoy their curation, but it’s not worth it to me anymore to have to make sure I actually receive a box every month.
