BomiBox February 2019 Review

Spring is just around the corner! Now is a good time to start swapping out our winter skincare products and prepping our skin for the upcoming heat and humidity. This month’s box contains beauty products to get skin spring-ready with a healthy and radiant glow.

BomiBox has detailed info cards for each month’s box on their website. The info card provides a description of all the items included in the box and instructions on how to use them. This is great since a lot of the products have instructions that are not in English.

BomiBox Review February 2019 - Glowhill Total Solution Glow Ampoule Pad 1 TopBomiBox Review February 2019 - Glowhill Total Solution Glow Ampoule Pad 2 TopBomiBox Review February 2019 - Glowhill Total Solution Glow Ampoule Pad 3 Top

Glowhill Total Solution Glow Ampoule Pad - Retail Value $12.00

Glowhill Total Solution Glow Ampoule Pads contain African walnut oil and squalane to gently exfoliate and moisturize skin. The box contains seven individually wrapped pads to moisturize skin leaving a radiant glow on the go! Use the rough side of the pad to gently exfoliate skin and the soft side to apply the equivalent of one moisturizing ampoule. I love the concept of these pads and the pretty packaging but I was expecting a different experience when using the product. It was difficult to tell which side of the pad was intended to be textured and which side was soft. Also, each pad contained too much product which wasn’t fast absorbing.

BomiBox Review February 2019 - Touch in Sol No Problem Primer Box TopBomiBox Review February 2019 - Touch in Sol No Problem Primer Unboxed TopBomiBox Review February 2019 - Touch in Sol No Problem Primer Uncapped Top

Touch in Sol No Problem Primer, 1.01 oz - Retail Value $22.47 (found on sale here for $10.59)

Touch in Sol No Problem Primer contains green tea extracts and collagen enhancing adhesion that perfectly preps skin for makeup application. It conceals pores and uneven skin tone and fills in fine lines and wrinkles creating a smooth foundation for applying makeup. After washing my face and applying moisturizer, I applied a thin layer of this silky primer to my face. It’s so soft and feels great going on. If this was a moisturizer, I’d apply it all over! I followed the primer with foundation and light makeup. Since I don’t wear makeup daily, it’s difficult to tell the difference this primer may have made. I did enjoy using it along with the mist included in this month’s box. I looked amazing all day!

BomiBox Review February 2019 - The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Light Oil FrontBomiBox Review February 2019 - The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Light Oil Back

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Light Oil, 5 oz – Retail Value $11.00

The Face Shop Rice Water Bright Cleansing Light Oil contains rice bran and jojoba oils that quickly and gently removes makeup and impurities. To use, I massaged this cleansing oil to my face in a circular motion and watched it magically dissolve my makeup. Once the makeup was off, I washed my face to remove the oily residue then applied a moisturizer. This product is very effective but I strongly suggest washing your face afterward and not leaving the oil on your skin overnight. If you find that makeup wipes are a little rough and irritating, this cleansing oil may be the way to go. It made removing my makeup easy and irritation-free.

BomiBox Review February 2019 - Keep Cool Soothe Fixence Mist Boxed TopBomiBox Review February 2019 - Keep Cool Soothe Fixence Mist Unboxed Top

Keep Cool Soothe Fixence Mist, 2.02 oz – Retail Value $10.00

With an impressive list of plant-based ingredients, Centella extract and aloe vera leaf water, Keep Cool Soothe Fixence Mist keeps skin moisturized and refreshed throughout the day. This popular product promises to keep your skin glowing all day. It also soothes skin making it appealing to anyone with sensitive or acne prone skin. I dropped this travel-sized mist in my purse and used it throughout the day to freshen up my make-up. The spray is strong and wide so I initially misted not only my face but my hair and shirt too! I didn't notice a direct impact on my skin but I did love the dewy effect it brought to my makeup throughout the day.

BomiBox Review February 2019 - Nacific Fresh Herb Toner FrontBomiBox Review February 2019 - Nacific Fresh Herb Toner BackBomiBox Review February 2019 - Nacific Fresh Herb Toner Uncapped Top

Nacific Fresh Herb Toner, 1.01 oz – Estimated Retail Value $4.80 (buy full size here or $24.00)

Containing calendula floral water and active antioxidants, Nacific Fresh Herb Toner soothes and moisturizes skin while helping to combat signs of aging. This toner’s gentle exfoliating and moisturizing effect leaves skin smooth and is safe on all skin types including sensitive skin. It smells amazing! I applied the toner to a cotton ball and applied it to my face. It absorbed so quickly that I had to apply more toner to finish my face. I felt a slight sting when applying though. I had recently exfoliated my skin so that may explain the slight discomfort.

BomiBox Review February 2019 - Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner Capped TopBomiBox Review February 2019 - Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner Uncapped Top

Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner, 1.69 oz – Estimated Retail Value $4.75 (currently out of stock)

Benton Aloe BHA Skin Toner contains skin-soothing aloe, exfoliating and oil controlling salicylic acid, and moisturizing snail mucin. This hydrating toner is free of harmful ingredients and is alcohol-free. I recognize the Benton brand and its snail mucin from products in previous BomiBoxes so I was excited to try this toner. It goes on watery, on my face it felt a little tacky, but once massaged in, it quickly absorbed into my skin. It smells nice and since I had a bit of acne on my chin I appreciated the added anti-inflammatory salicylic acid.

BomiBox Review February 2019 - Etude House 0.2mm Therapy Air Mask Aloe Front TopBomiBox Review February 2019 - Etude House 0.2mm Therapy Air Mask Aloe Back Top

Etude House 0.2mm Therapy Air Mask Aloe – Retail Value $1.20

This hypo-allergenic mask provides soothing aloe moisture while delivering 7-free essence that when absorbed leaves skin feeling fresh. Etude House therapy air masks are super thin at only 0.22 mm so they easily adhere to the skin while allowing your skin to breath. I thought that the mask would be difficult to handle considering how thin it is but I was surprised at its sturdiness. It was lightweight, comfortable and relaxing.

BomiBox Review February 2019 - Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask Rose Front TopBomiBox Review February 2019 - Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask Rose Back Top

Innisfree My Real Squeeze Mask Rose – Estimated Retail Value $3.00 (buy a pack of 5 on sale here for $5.00)

Innisfree My Real Squeeze Rose mask leaves skin smooth, bright and radiant. The cold pressed rose petal extract is fresh and nourishing. This mask is a little too wet with a lot of extra product. But, when finally applied, it felt great! I liked the rose scent since it wasn’t overwhelming. I couldn’t see any difference in my skin but it did feel a bit more moisturized.

The Verdict: The month’s box had some great picks! I’m starting to recognize brands of products I loved from previous boxes like Benton, Glowhill and Keep Cool. I enjoyed the unexpected addition of the primer and cleansing oil. I haven’t seen many make-up focused beauty products in recent boxes. Although I enjoyed both toners, one toner per box is plenty. Of the two masks, Etude House was my favorite. I’m certain these products will have my skin ready to take on spring!

This box cost $38.99 and has an estimated retail value of $69.22. BomiBox consistently delivers great value and the opportunity to try a wide range of Korean beauty products.

Love this box, like the actual artwork on the box I’m so sad I had to cancel my subscription due to product overload!!! Each month Bomibox does different box artwork and it’s always been super pretty and fun. I Would’ve loved to recieve the toners (Korean toners/essences seem to do so much for my skin) I LOVE Benton, their products are miracles in pump form for my face. Great review thank you!!

Hey Emily Jane! Thanks for the comment! I loving Benton now too! Also, is there such a thing as product overload?! I’m thinking of purchasing a lazy susan to better store and organize my products so it doesn’t appear so overwhelming.

TK

Unfortunately there is “product overload” but I can’t seem to stop wanting more. I bought a three tiered lazy Susan from Amazon and it’s great! You can easily see all your stuff.

I recently read a very interesting article about K-beauty. The Korean culture still favors light colored skin over darker skin. “Whitening” products are common. The beauty companies have realized that won’t fly with most Americans so they change their branding to say things like “brightening” instead, but that’s just code for, “you’ll look better if you’re paler”.

Jane

Not to defend the companies, but Korean products that say “whitening” have always meant brightening, long before these companies became popular in America. I’ve chalked it up to a mistranslation that is only recently being corrected. If you look up ingredients that lighten/whiten skin, it’s things like vitamin C or Niacinamide that are also found in American skincare products to lighten dark spots

Hey JMM! I’ve reference this in previous reviews and some took offense. It’s not a accusation as much as it is an observation. I would never put whitening products on my skin so I’m super dilligent about checking the ingredients list. Thus far, there have been no chemical whitening agents in any of the BomiBox products I’ve tried.

Cleansing oil is meant to be a first cleanse to remove makeup and then you use a second regular cleanser to remove the oil. 😉 it is the way of a k-beauty routine.

This box looked amazing!

Shatae

Right, Lisa! The instructions for this product implied that washing after was optional so I wanted to stress that you definitely want to wash your face after using cleansing oil.

Wow this box is impressive- I am sad that I missed out on it! I love these brands and I would have used every single one of the items! Thanks for the review! I always watch for this one! Bomibox is now offering a mini box with 3-4 items and a mask for a cheaper price 🙂
