Unique Vintage February 2019 Review
You never quite know what you’re going to get with this subscription. It could be a party dress or one that you could wear to work.
The package came with this card, which doesn’t really deal with the subscription but which might be useful if you shop at the Unique Vintage website.
Let’s see what I got this month:
I loved this print right away. This is less of a practical work dress (unless I put on a cardigan) and more of a party dress. The skirt is maybe a touch see-through, which is why I’m wearing the petticoat in the pictures.
This one is hand-wash only and hang to dry, which is not so unusual for a Unique Vintage dress.
This is somewhat stretchy around the middle but I did have to have my husband zip up the back for me:
A couple of notes here: I am usually XS on top with a 34B bra size, but I order a size S from Unique Vintage because my waist is a bigger dress size than my hips or bust. But this was pretty tight on top and I don’t know how someone with a larger bust size would even fit in a size S for this style, I think it would be uncomfortable (but then I’m not that size on top so what do I know?).
Also, the straps are removable. What’s cool is that they are also adjustable, there are actually three button holes on one end of them. This is great for me because I always want shorter straps on dresses due to the shape of my shoulders and chest, and here I could put them at the shortest length and they worked well for me.
Verdict: The dress I received has a retail price of $98, which is a good value for this subscription at $41 over the cost of the dress plus shipping. The style is fun but not particularly practical. If you have outdoor events lined up for summertime, I can see this being a great option, with or without the petticoat (I might opt for a slip without the petticoat although there is enough material in the skirt that maybe it doesn’t matter).
Also, just to be clear, this subscription is offered in sizes XS through 4X and everyone gets the same dress. If you go to the link above under the list of sizes, it says “available in plus” and if you click on that link, you are taken to a different product page with plus sizes (including plus size models in the pictures and same retail value).
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, all boxes ship out at the same time of the month so it’s too late to get the February shipment. However, if you like the dress, you can order it from the link above. (Sign up for their email list; they have coupons and sales every now and then.)
Value Breakdown: This subscription costs $57 if you include shipping and you get one dress. Tax may also be charged now but that will vary by location.
