Tasu includes a card describing the monthly theme. On the reverse is a list of what’s included with retail values. This month’s theme is “Wellness”.

Let’s dive in!

Into the Woods Essential Oil Blend, 0.5 fl oz.— Listed Value $13.60 ($18.00 CAD)

I am an essential oil addict and I have quite the extensive collection. This is a great blend with a heavy dose of cedar with hints of orange and peppermint. It also has cloves but they are barely there. I used it in my diffuser with some extra sweet orange and my whole house smelled bright and clean. I really like more moody scents and this is a new favorite for sure!

Tasu January 2019 body butter Tasu January 2019 body butter side Tasu January 2019 body butter detail

Jasmine Orange Body Butter, 4 fl oz. — Retail Value $18.14 ($24.00 CAD)

I tend to like the body butters and creams that come in this sub. Great scent, check. All natural, check. Minimal apothecary-esque packaging, check! This one is a beautiful blend of orange and jasmine and though I wish the scent were just a wee bit stronger, the formula itself is wonderful. The shea butter and almond oil are very hydrating and the emulsifying wax creates a strong moisture barrier, leaving your hands soft and supple.

Tasu January 2019 tea Tasu January 2019 tea detail

Black Forest Tea Blend, 40 grams— Listed Value $4.53 ($6.00 CAD)

Although this tea is really not my style, I did quite enjoy a small cup. It is very dark with notes of chocolate and cherries. It has little white chocolate drops scattered throughout which melt and give it an instant creaminess. I added some vanilla almond milk which made this feel much more like a dessert than a tea. While I am more of an earthy/floral tea enthusiast, this might be an ever so often treat when I get a sugar craving!

Tasu January 2019 beanie Tasu January 2019 beanie hole Tasu January 2019 beanie detail

Cream and Sprinkle Messy Bun Toque – Listed Value $15.12 ($20.00 CAD)

This is just the cutest beanie ever! It even has an elastic hole at the top for my bun to peek out! I really like the ivory yard with the multi-colored threading. It goes with most anything in my closet. It could stand to be a little bigger, but that might be relative since I have a rather large noggin. I can’t wait to wear this out. All the other buns will be so jealous!

Bun up, thumb up!

Lip & Cheek Stain in Drama — Listed Value $12.09 ($16.00 CAD)

I was super excited to try this out and it was the first thing I reached for in this month’s box. I really liked it as a lip color but found that as a cheek stain it didn’t mix well with my cream to powder foundation. I am still pleased with it though, as I have had the same favorite blush for years and see no likelihood of replacing it. On my lips is it a very natural rosy color with a dewy finish. The formula itself is super hydrating, meaning pretty and happy lips.

Marne was kind enough to do our swatches this month! Look at those claws too! Thanks, Marne!

The Verdict: I very much enjoyed this month’s Tasu box. I always love their body lotions/creams, and the scent this month was soft and feminine. I always love getting a good essential oil blend, and this month delivered that as well. The tea was just so-so, but it was also the most minor part of this box, so I am fine with that. The beanie is beyond precious and very useful this time of year. I also have been using the lip stain all day, and really enjoy it. This box has a listed value of $63.48 USD ($84 CAD) and that is a decent value for a $34.55 ($37.99 CAD + $7.99 CAD shipping) box.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? No, but February boxes are still available. Or, you will receive the March box. Order by the 12th of the month to receive that month’s box.

Value Breakdown: This box costs $28.71 USD, which means that each of the 5 items in the box has an average cost of $5.74.

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

  1. I didn’t think I’d like the hat because while my hair is long and I do put it up in a bun sometimes, it’s very thin and baby fine so it’s not substantial enough to wear outside the hat. I was so relieved to see that the hole is quite small so you don’t look odd if you don’t pull your hair through it. It actually fits me perfectly and looks pretty cute! I like that it’s snug because slouchy ones don’t look good on me. And the cream with the other colors woven in is just lovely. It’s definitely not something I’d ever pick out for myself but I’m so happy to have it! It’s been a while since I’ve received anything in any of the many boxes I’ve tried that really surprised and wowed me like this. I wish I knew where to get another one in a different color.

Also, I’m with Justice—I’d love to see the Tasu bath bomb sub reviewed!
