Orglamix is a vegan and cruelty-free beauty subscription containing loose shadows, glitter pigments, aromatherapy roll-ons, and more. Many of the items in the subscription will be unique tov the subscription and not available in the Orglamix shop (although they will have the same great formula).

They are now doing custom box prints every month and they’re quite pretty.

This box was sent to us at no cost for review. (Check out the review process post to learn more about how we review boxes.)

Orglamix January 2019 “TLC” Box Review

This month’s theme is “TLC.” (Or, as I like to call it, “This box will clear your sinuses.”)

Let’s see how Orglamix incorporated that theme into the month’s items:

Orglamix January 2019 - Booklet Front Orglamix Jauary 2019 - Booklet Open Top Orglamix January 2019 - Booklet Back

The box came with an information card detailing the items and theme for January. It sometimes also lists ingredients, which is nice since these items aren’t typically available in their online shop.

Orglamix January 2019 - Chill Pill Shower Steamer Top View

Chill Pill Shower Steamer – Listed Value $3.75

This is NOT a bath bomb but is actually a shower steamer and is meant to be put in the shower, in a spot that gets hit by some water but not drenched, to release vapors in the hot steam and help clear congestion. I think it is one of the more effective shower steamers that I’ve used, actually. The only thing I would change is packaging it in some kind of wrapper because bits of it fell off in the box.

Orglamix January 2019 - Eucalyptus Mint Soothing Pillow Spray Front View

Eucalyptus Mint Soothing Pillow Spray – Listed Value $12

This doesn’t last super long on my pillow but it lasts long enough for me to drift off to sleep and that is good enough for me. So far it hasn’t irritated Mr. Kitty, either (he sleeps right next to my pillow, taking up approximately 1/3 of the bed).

Orglamix January 2019 - All Natural Vapour Rub With Hand Orglamix January 2019 - All Natural Vapour Rub Top View

All Natural Vapour Rub – Listed Value $12

I can’t say how effective this is as I don’t have a cold at the moment, but it certainly smells like it would work similarly to Vicks (but presumably without the petroleum byproducts).  It’s nice to have a bit on hand for when I’m sure I’ll need it.

Orglamix January 2019 - Detox Whipped Oil Cleanser Top 1 Orglamix January 2019 - Detox Whipped Oil Cleanser Top 2

Detox Whipped Oil Cleanser – Listed Value $18

This is solid oil-based cleanser meant to be used as the first step in a two-step cleansing routine. It doesn’t really have a whipped texture, despite the name. It is definitely effective, but I had to wash my face three times afterward to get all traces of the cleanser from my face. It really didn’t want to come off. So my advice would be to use a VERY small amount.

Orglamix January 2019 - Lash Curler Pro Top View

Lash Curler Pro – Listed Value $12

There’s usually a tool in Orglamix, it might be a brush or an aromatherapy necklace or a jade roller. This month it is a lash curler. The idea is that sometimes when you are feeling under the weather, doing little things can help pick you up and make you feel a bit more normal. At any rate, this seems to work for my eyelashes (I have small, narrow-set eyes, so not all eyelash curlers are useful for me) so that’s good.

Orglamix January 2019 - Soothing Lip Tint Front View Orglamix January 2019 - Soothing Lip Tint With Hand

Soothing Lip Tint – Listed Value $9

This has added vitamins A and E.  I have definitely seen vitamin E used as a moisturizer. Vitamin A, not so much, but it is an antioxidant so it may have some anti-aging benefits if used consistently. This was reasonably well moisturizing although it didn’t show up on my lips so much.

Orglamix January 2019 - Swatch On Hand

Here is a swatch of the lip tint.

Verdict: I calculated a value of $66.75 for the January Orglamix subscription box. The items this month were all exclusive for this box, so I had to rely a lot on the information card but they seem in line with past boxes. I don’t really have a cold right now, but it is nice to stock up on items that may be helpful when I inevitably do get a cold since you never feel like going out and buying such things when you’re under the weather, but it is nice to have them around.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today?  No, this was January’s box and they say they ship around the 10th (in practice, it may be a week or two after that before the box actually ships, although this month’s box was received somewhat later than usual).  You’d probably get the February box as your first one.

Value Breakdown: At $34.95 per box, here’s approximately what you are paying per item:

  • Shower steamer $1.96
  • Pillow spray $6.28
  • Vapor rub $6.28
  • Cleanser $9.42
  • Eyelash curler $6.28
  • Tinted balm $4.71
