Frank And Oak Style Plan for Men February 2019 Review
When you first sign up for this subscription, you fill out a style profile that captures your sizing preferences and your sense of style. (Choose from Casual, Classic, and Creative). You’ll also be able to set a budget for different types of clothing that could be included.
Before your box ships, you get an email inviting you to hop in and preview your order. The page that opens up shows you the items that have been selected for you. You can switch out the chosen items for others on this page if you desire. The plan includes three items, but you can choose more or less than three if you’d like. The prices are all discounted for you, so it’s a deal compared to just shopping the regular site.
The top three items marked with green checks are the original selections made for John. He logged on and found some different things he thought he'd like more so he updated them.
Here’s the invoice for the four pieces John ended up with, plus the return instructions. (If you didn’t know before, Frank And Oak is a Canadian company, which explains all the French you’ll see on their packaging and paperwork!)
Floral Printed Flannel Shirt in Blue Grey, L - Retail Price $69.50, Member Price $54.50
When I see "flannel", I immediately think of the thick, fuzzy fabric that is great for cold weather and lumberjacks. This flannel, however, is smooth with the thickness of a typical button down. The 100% cotton feels soft and more casual than a crisp dress shirt but still looks very nice when dressed up. I love that the white floral pattern is small and a bit abstract.
Dogsled Print Oxford Shirt in Dark Blue, L - Retail Price $69.50, Member Price $54.50 (on sale for $34.97)
I knew this would be a hit! One of the things Frank and Oak does so well is creating patterns that are fun but not too crazy to incorporate into daily wear. John loves dogs so he had to have this oxford shirt with dogsleds on it. Like the flannel shirt, this one is made from 100% cotton and has a slim fit. But, its got more of the dress shirt vibe with a crisp feel to the fabric and a more structured fit. I like the rich, dark navy and white contrast.
The Newport Chino in Grey, 34x34 - Retail Price $59.50, Member Price $54.50
If you've ever read one of John's reviews of Frank and Oak before, then you know he loves the Newport Chino. He has several colors now but needed a grey pair. Originally, the selection was for a light brown pair which he didn't think he'd get as much wear out of. He likes that the fabric has just enough give to be comfortable (thanks to the 3% Spandex) and that the straight fit is on the slimmer side. As always, we'll have to get them hemmed to the correct length since his waist/length combo isn't available.
Minimal 60/40 Jersey T-Shirt in Green, L - Retail Price $34.50, Member Price $29.50
John normally sticks to the three item setup, but since Frank and Oak is so flexible, he added a fourth item this month. This soft tee is from their Minimal line and made from 60% organic cotton and 40% recycled polyester. I really love the green on him! He mentioned that he loves that the neckline is thick and sturdy so it won't stretch out.
The Verdict: Since John started receiving Frank and Oak's style plan, his wardrobe has not only improved in style but also in fit and quality. He likes the fabrics, colors, and comfort factor of Frank and Oak. And, they work hard to be sustainable and environmentally friendly. He likes all of his picks this month but especially loves the dogsled oxford. He's also really happy that he could select a fourth item for his box since he was struggling with choices. The price vs. quality is great and we've had positive experiences with the Frank and Oak Customer Service when we have had questions.

Value Breakdown: The regular retail price of these three items is $233. Because John is a member, he got these items for a total of $193.00 which is about a 17% savings. Since he is keeping at least one item, the $25 styling fee was waived.
