February 2019 BeautyFIX Review
This box comes with a booklet detailing each of the items included:
That's 7 items this month!
Let's dive in!
ORA Lip Plumping Roller - Retail Value $28.00
Let's start this review out with a bang, shall we? This odd device is a roller with little microneedles that you roll on your lips daily to promote collagen growth, and therefore plump your lips. I have never tried anything like this. My lips are naturally pretty full, but I have been trying this out twice a day for the last 4 days. I honestly can't say I have seen any real difference, but maybe it takes more time? Luckily, this roller doesn't hurt, unless you apply too much pressure. If you do, you will know right away because instead of feeling fine, it will hurt! For me, the jury is still out on this product's usefulness, but unusual and slightly weird products like this are what most excites me about BeautyFIX.
Lancer Studio Filter Pore Perfecting Primer - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $58.00
I didn't have high hopes for this product because it just looked SO orange straight out of the tube. Luckily, once you rub this product in, the orange disappears, even on my super pale skin. It gives my skin a very soft almost velvet-like finish and was a nice base for my foundation. It also gave my skin a nice dose of hydration. The smell was a little weird for me, and there are absolutely better primers out there for the money, but getting this in this affordable box made it feel very special and a rather luxe item to get a full-size tube of.
Smith & Cult – B-Line Eye Pen - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $26.00
I am really impressed with how sharp the tip of this eyeliner pen is. The black is also super black, meaning your winged liner is full of drama! I found it easy to apply and incredibly smudge proof, but not waterproof. This will make a fine addition to any eyeliner collection, especially for vintage cat-eye enthusiasts!
Nice dark, crisp lines with a hint of sheen!
R+Co WATERFALL Moisture Shine Lotion, 0.5 fl oz – Estimated Value $2.90 (Buy a full size 5 oz for $29.00)
I love this brand and I have a few of these mini tubes stashed in different pockets and bathrooms in my home and at work. The scent is one of my favorites when it comes to hair products, and reminds me much more of a favorite perfume than any hair cream. I am the definition of minimal when it comes to my hair routine, heck, I don't even brush my hair unless I get a big knot or almost-dreadlock. I sleep on it wet and maybe blowdry it once a month. This is actually one of the only hair products I use! I like to apply this cream on damp or dry hair to prevent frizz and flyaways without weighing down my wild strands. It adds a subtle sheen without making my hair look oily and enhances its natural texture.
VERSO Hydration Serum, 10 ml - Estimated Value $31.67 (Buy a full-size 30 ml for $95.00)
This serum is really runny and borderline slimy. This isn't a bad thing though, as it means a little goes a very long way! It has a nice clean scent and left my skin feeling hydrated. It has a healthy dose of Niacinamide which has a ton of skin benefits such as pore reduction, moisture retention, and fine line reduction. It also contains oat lipids, which contain healthy fatty acids and really soothe skin. I applied it after toning and immediately noticed my skin was calmer, less irritated, and very hydrated.
MDSolarSciences Daily Eye Repair Emulsion, 0.17 oz - Estimated Value $17.00 (Buy a full-size 0.5 oz for $50.00)
I didn't really love this product, mainly because of the texture. I prefer more cream based eye treatments, but this one is a slightly odd clear gel that feels a lot like a powdery finish silicone primer although it doesn't absorb quickly at all. I did sleep in it one night and had a better experience, though I am just not sold on the texture. Ingredient-wise, this is a solid formula. Niacinamide and caffeine together immediately give you a more awake look and add moisture. It also contains Vitamin C, a skin brightener, and green tea.
COSRX One Step Original Clear Pad, 2 pads - Estimated Value $0.57 (Buy a full-size pot of 70 pads here for $20.00)
I loved these little toner pads! I used them after washing my face and was more than a little embarrassed at how much makeup had been left behind. The pads have a mild astringent quality to them that I found to feel medicinal without drying me out. I (thankfully) do not often suffer from breakouts, but if you do, you will love the betaine salicylate and willow bark water in this formula because it can help prevent zits without stripping your skin.
Verdict: This box has an estimated value of $164.14. As always, this $24.95 box has a ton of value. This has been consistent for every Beauty Fix box I have reviewed. I consider this box to be one of the more experimental ones out there because it is always filled with more unusual products and brands, which is probably not everyone's cup of tea. For me personally, I enjoy the unexpected! Although I doubt the usefulness of the lip roller, I loved getting it in a box and thought the whole idea was wacky and super fun. I really like the quality and performance of both the eyeliner pen and the primer. The serum and the repair emulsion were just ok in my book, but the humble toner pad was a surprise hit for me. I always look forward to this box because I know I will get to try out new things.
