ORA Lip Plumping Roller - Retail Value $28.00

Let's start this review out with a bang, shall we? This odd device is a roller with little microneedles that you roll on your lips daily to promote collagen growth, and therefore plump your lips. I have never tried anything like this. My lips are naturally pretty full, but I have been trying this out twice a day for the last 4 days. I honestly can't say I have seen any real difference, but maybe it takes more time? Luckily, this roller doesn't hurt, unless you apply too much pressure. If you do, you will know right away because instead of feeling fine, it will hurt! For me, the jury is still out on this product's usefulness, but unusual and slightly weird products like this are what most excites me about BeautyFIX.

Lancer Studio Filter Pore Perfecting Primer -  FULL SIZE! Retail Value $58.00

I didn't have high hopes for this product because it just looked SO orange straight out of the tube. Luckily, once you rub this product in, the orange disappears, even on my super pale skin. It gives my skin a very soft almost velvet-like finish and was a nice base for my foundation. It also gave my skin a nice dose of hydration. The smell was a little weird for me, and there are absolutely better primers out there for the money, but getting this in this affordable box made it feel very special and a rather luxe item to get a full-size tube of.

Smith & Cult – B-Line Eye Pen - FULL SIZE! Retail Value $26.00

I am really impressed with how sharp the tip of this eyeliner pen is. The black is also super black, meaning your winged liner is full of drama! I found it easy to apply and incredibly smudge proof, but not waterproof. This will make a fine addition to any eyeliner collection, especially for vintage cat-eye enthusiasts!

R+Co WATERFALL Moisture Shine Lotion, 0.5 fl oz – Estimated Value $2.90 (Buy a full size 5 oz for $29.00)

I love this brand and I have a few of these mini tubes stashed in different pockets and bathrooms in my home and at work. The scent is one of my favorites when it comes to hair products, and reminds me much more of a favorite perfume than any hair cream. I am the definition of minimal when it comes to my hair routine, heck, I don't even brush my hair unless I get a big knot or almost-dreadlock. I sleep on it wet and maybe blowdry it once a month. This is actually one of the only hair products I use! I like to apply this cream on damp or dry hair to prevent frizz and flyaways without weighing down my wild strands. It adds a subtle sheen without making my hair look oily and enhances its natural texture.

Beauty Fix February 2019 serum Beauty Fix February 2019 serum back Beauty Fix February 2019 serum detail

VERSO Hydration Serum, 10 ml - Estimated Value $31.67 (Buy a full-size 30 ml for $95.00)

This serum is really runny and borderline slimy. This isn't a bad thing though, as it means a little goes a very long way! It has a nice clean scent and left my skin feeling hydrated. It has a healthy dose of Niacinamide which has a ton of skin benefits such as pore reduction, moisture retention, and fine line reduction. It also contains oat lipids, which contain healthy fatty acids and really soothe skin. I applied it after toning and immediately noticed my skin was calmer, less irritated, and very hydrated.

Beauty Fix February 2019 eye repair Beauty Fix February 2019 eye repair back Beauty Fix February 2019 eye repair detail

MDSolarSciences Daily Eye Repair Emulsion, 0.17 oz - Estimated Value $17.00 (Buy a full-size 0.5 oz for $50.00)

I didn't really love this product, mainly because of the texture. I prefer more cream based eye treatments, but this one is a slightly odd clear gel that feels a lot like a powdery finish silicone primer although it doesn't absorb quickly at all. I did sleep in it one night and had a better experience, though I am just not sold on the texture. Ingredient-wise, this is a solid formula. Niacinamide and caffeine together immediately give you a more awake look and add moisture. It also contains Vitamin C, a skin brightener, and green tea.

Beauty Fix February 2019 toner pads Beauty Fix February 2019 toner pads back

COSRX One Step Original Clear Pad, 2 pads - Estimated Value $0.57 (Buy a full-size pot of 70 pads here for $20.00)

I loved these little toner pads! I used them after washing my face and was more than a little embarrassed at how much makeup had been left behind. The pads have a mild astringent quality to them that I found to feel medicinal without drying me out. I (thankfully) do not often suffer from breakouts, but if you do, you will love the betaine salicylate and willow bark water in this formula because it can help prevent zits without stripping your skin.

Verdict: This box has an estimated value of $164.14. As always, this $24.95 box has a ton of value. This has been consistent for every Beauty Fix box I have reviewed. I consider this box to be one of the more experimental ones out there because it is always filled with more unusual products and brands, which is probably not everyone's cup of tea. For me personally, I enjoy the unexpected! Although I doubt the usefulness of the lip roller, I loved getting it in a box and thought the whole idea was wacky and super fun. I really like the quality and performance of both the eyeliner pen and the primer. The serum and the repair emulsion were just ok in my book, but the humble toner pad was a surprise hit for me. I always look forward to this box because I know I will get to try out new things.

To Wrap Up:

I love natural/vegan beauty products, Korean skincare, unique jewelry, and weird candies from far away places. When I am not waiting for my next exciting box you can find me painting or taking photographs of interesting people. I never leave home without pug hair somewhere on my shirt and a bold lipstick on my smile.

Had this box for couple years now & always loved it. Then I became more ingredient conscious. One of the spoilers for the March 2019 box is a vitamin C serum from Japan. The oils in the recipe sound great. Then I look at the full ingredient list & phenoxyethanol is Number 3. (this is a common preservative used in ‘natural’ products to replace parabens & is most often the very last ingredient (lowest amount). The U.S. will typically wait until there’s a lawsuit in 30yrs like there was with talcom powder. Ok r u Ready – Japan has banned phenoxyethanol !!- they must need to get rid of it & cannot sell this ‘natural’ serum in their own country. I’m sure dermstore is aware of this but I’ve now soured on them. (Also find if I do like a brand I can find it from the company directly & cheaper. I’m now going to try Pearlesque Box which promotes all organic products )

Great review and always appreciate your honest and thoughtful reviews.

Kelly

Nice review! I may have to purchase this now. I am a little afraid of the micro needle thing , but the rest looks great!

Megan K.

Thanks Kelly! It really was painless, unless you press really hard! I am not sure it actually does anything though…

Marion

I know it’s meant to be light-hearted, but please consider how your comment about not brushing your hair until you get an “almost-dreadlock” might unintentionally reinforce negative stereotypes about loc hairstyles being unkempt & unprofessional.

Reply ButtonReply

JC

Please 🤣🤣 lighten up

Reply ButtonReply

Jen

People find a way to pick apart something in nearly every review!

Reply ButtonReply

Jane

I’m so tired of people finding any little thing to freak out about. Her comment was in no way racist or unprofessional. Why do some people have to find offense at everything?!

Megan K.

Hi Marion! I totally appreciate your comment and understand where you are coming from. My comment was much less for the sake of humor than an actual description, as my hair has
loads of texture and will easily form locks, especially since I sleep on it wet each night. I personally think locks are really beautiful but don’t have the patience to maintain them, therefore when my hair naturally starts to form them, I choose to brush them out. I appreciate your thoughtful comment and that you took the time to read my review!

Reply ButtonReply

AH

Megan, you have handled all of this so well! I also don’t brush until my hair almost starts to form locks at the nape of my neck (as they form easily like you), so I may be partial to thinking your original remark meant no harm. I am blown away that this description could be taken in any negative way, truly. But you’ve been amazing at responding in a very respectful manner to everyone, and I think that’s just awesome!

NurseJen

Lots of people of all races have dread locks. Go to a bluegrass festival and you’ll see hundreds of white people with ass length dreads. Sounds like it’s your the one reinforcing stereotypes by bringing this up. And yes I am a non-white person with multi-racial children.

Reply ButtonReply

Nicole

She didn’t mention race at all. 🙄 She brought up a common stereotype that dreadlocks can be seen as “unkept/unprofessional” or dirty and she was respectful. I appreciated Marion’s comment.

Sara

Are you serious?! Talk about looking for something to be outraged about. You don’t brush dreadlocks and if you have them part of the process is not brushing your hair. How on earth is that insulting when it’s true?

Reply ButtonReply

Tanya M

Marion, For some strange reason, I had a similar thought. Jessica thanks for responding to a different and, perhaps overly sensitive to some, comment. You were not the least bit dismissive or defensive, not an easy thing to do. The box was exceptional this month for me and I hope all who received it enjoy immensely. Thank you for the review Megan.

Reply ButtonReply

Courtney

As someone else who only brushes her hair when it hits almost dreadlock stage, I don’t think she meant anything even remotely close to what you are inferring. It’s simply a descriptive term and cleverly put apt one at that. There was absolutely zero negative connotation or insult to be made in what she said. There isn’t a single adjective attached to the phrase that could intimate either a positive or negative inference. It was just a description, nothing more. I think the only offense here is if you are looking to take one.

Great review Megan and personally I appreciate your willingness to use clever And accurate phrases to describe your own personal occasional rats nest/haystack!

Shai

It felt she was referring to just the fact that you don’t brush dreadlocks. My husband and my mother have dreadlocks, very neatly kept, but they certainly don’t brush them.

Excellent point, and one I hadn’t realized. Thanks for making this a teachable moment in a polite but clear way.

Excellent review, as usual Megan. I love your reviews, even the reviews of boxes in not interested in. Thank you for your time. Hope you are well.

Excellent review, Megan!
You always manage to enlighten me about the products that I have not tried yet.
I was in doubt about that lip roller, but since you said it didn’t hurt, maybe I’ll give it a try 😀
Looking forward to your next review!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Thanks so much! It really doesn’t hurt at all on the lips. I did try it on my undereye skin (because I enjoy torture) and I DO NOT recommend it for that skin at all. Nope.

Reply ButtonReply

Michelle

Lol. I’m glad you tried it now I don’t have to! I was going to attack my under eyes later tonight.

Christy

Megan, I’ve read several of your reviews lately and I think they’re stellar. You’re thorough and honest, and I appreciate that!

Re: this box – Though I wanted to try several of the items (the slimy serum, the eye cream, and the R + Co product), they were the smaller items and not the hero items, so I couldn’t justify buying the box. *sad violin music*

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Thanks for the sweet words Christy! I have a ton of fun writing them. The hero item this month was definitely not for everyone. The first time I get a full-size R+Co I will be bouncing off the walls!

Reply ButtonReply

Lia

I skipped this box initially and then I read your wonderful review and re-subscribed. You have a gift of bringing out the best in everything. Thank you!

Megan K.

Lia this was a super sweet comment that made my night. Thank you.

Nat

Can’t bring myself to use that lip thing. Nope, not happening. I’ll stick with my small lips.

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

My husband is literally horrified by it, which somehow makes using it in front of him super enjoyable. Mine has also started making this horror movie appropriate squeaking noise!

Reply ButtonReply

Lynn

Lol – I love that

Deanne

Mine is horrified too, like he didn’t want to know about it when I was using it! 🤣

Megan, I’ve read several of your reviews and I really think they’re stellar. They’re thoughtful and honest and I really appreciate that!

As far as this box goes, I didn’t buy it. I wanted several of the products, but the ones I wanted were all the smaller samples (R + co, slimy serum, eye cream), so it didn’t seem worth it to buy the box. *sad violin music*

I subscribed to this box because of your reviews and spoilers. Thank you! It is one of my most fav boxes. Been using the Micro roller for a few days now, and while I have pretty full lips as well, I did notice a slightly more plumper lip. Loved the whole box. Was up in middle of night and rubbed my eyes.. Loved the feeling after putting on the eye gel before bed.

Megan K.

I am glad you like this box Ronda! I really do too, it makes me feel adventurous. I am glad to hear the lip roller is showing results, makes me want to keep it up with mine. <3

My husband even agrees this box is one of the most worthy of all the ones I get. I think I’m down to 7 (including Bark Box for my grand fur baby). Nourish Beauty is our second fav, then probably Allure. All my subs except Ipsy are because of this site. Thanks again.
Yeah, I think it doesn’t hurt (lietrally to keep up with trying the Micro lip…

Ela Avar

Great review! This is one of my favourite boxes to get and you hit every item spot on! The lip roller thingie is fun and even a bit relaxing! Lol I’m still blown away at the price of the full size Lancer primer!!
Thanks again for your excellent review!

Reply ButtonReply

Megan K.

Thanks Ela! The primer won me over, and I was so not impressed at first by the color. The lip roller is randomly fun, I have to admit. I plan on giving it a nice try over a month or so!
