February 2019 Amazon Prime Book Box Review
Here are examples of books for different age ranges:
When you sign up, you fill out a little bit of information about your child and your frequency preferences. You’ll then get an email about Amazon’s selections for your child’s age range that month and you can swap and select the ones you want to receive.
I love the illustration artwork in this book. It’s about a bunny who sits in on story time at the library during the summer when it’s held outside. But when Summer’s over, story time moves back inside and the bunny is dying to read stories. So he sneaks his way into the library through the book return slot and starts taking books back to his home. Other animals notice his lights on late and check on him, and subsequently get sucked into reading books, too. The whole group of animals sneaks into the library, certain they will get caught. Which they are, but instead of getting in trouble they’re given library cards and start their own book club! It’s a sweet story.
This book is perfect for little train lovers. It’s about a little toy train who gets knocked off the train table, manages to find his way outside, and goes on an adventure. He travels around with the help of real trains, who eventually help him make it home. My son has one of the wooden track train sets that is shown in this book, which makes it extra fun for him. I think it helps him realize the idea of imagining this adventure from a toy train’s perspective. I also think this is a great book for him to “read” on his own because there is a lot to look at on each page, and even a couple pages with just illustrated panels and no words.
The Verdict: This was my fifth box from Amazon Prime Books Kids, and I like the selections we got this month. I chose the 3-5-year-old option for my 3-year-old. I really appreciate that I get an email before it ships so I can swap out and select which two books to get each month, and I trust Amazon’s customer service if I have any issues. This really helps to make sure we get books I know we’ll like, and having new books to read has helped bedtime go much more smoothly because Gideon looks forward to it with a fun, fresh, new story. For $19.99 a month plus free Prime shipping, we received two books with a total value of $35.98
To Wrap Up:
Can you get this box if you sign up today? I’m not sure of exactly when Amazon swaps out their selection choices for the month, but if you sign up today it’s likely that you’ll get the selections for December.
Value Breakdown: This box costs $19.99, so you’re paying about $9.99 per book. This month, that adds up to about 45% off retail.
