VetPet Box (Cat Version) January 2019 Review

Every month, VetPet Box sends toys, supplies, and wellness items:

Included was an information card with more information about the items in the box. Due to some preferences at sign-up, you may not receive every item on the card, and you may occasionally receive an item that is not listed.

There is always educational material in a full-color, fold-out brochure that is sturdy enough for storage and to later reference. There is a different theme every month (this material is considered to be one of the benefits of paying for the subscription, so it is not reproduced here). This month, the theme was keeping your cat(s) safe from common holiday dangers.

Vet Pet Box Cat January 2019 Box - Cat Sushi Classic Cut & Thick Cut Front

Cat Sushi Classic Cut (0.7 oz) – Retail Value $6.99

Cat Sushi Thick Cut (0.7 oz) – Retail Value $6.99

I didn’t realize these were slightly different items when I was taking photos, but the thickness is supposedly different. I’ve only opened one of them so far. Anyway, my cats have had bonito flakes before and loved them. You can sprinkle this on top of their food to entice them to eat, or just let them have some for fun. Even though it is 100% fish, it doesn’t smell too fishy.

Vet Pet Box Cat January 2019 Box - Yeowww! Candy Cane Top

Yeowww! Candy Cane x 2 – Retail Value $19.90

Yeowww! Toys are some of my cats’ favorites. I guess the catnip is really strong or something. Anyway, these were quite popular; my cats licked them a lot (that’s what they were in the mood for, I guess). My cats keep coming back to Yeowww! toys days and even weeks later, though, so I was happy to see them.

Vet Pet Box Cat January 2019 Box - All for Paws “The Hunt” Top

All for Paws “The Hunt” – Listed Value $9.99

I can’t find this toy for sale in North America or Europe but that is often the case for All for Paws toys (though I do get them in subscription boxes fairly often). Anyway, this toy is a snake that has a mouse in its mouth, and you can pull on the mouse and it kind of vibrates as it goes back into the snake’s mouth. (Not sure how good that explanation was, but oh well.) The vibration did not scare my cats although they haven’t played with this much just yet, either.

Vet Pet Box Cat January 2019 Box - Kats ‘n Us Sparkly Jumbo Puffs Top

Kats ‘n Us Sparkly Jumbo Puffs x 2 – Retail Value $3.90

These used to be Mr. Kitty’s favorite toys (he doesn’t play much now that he can’t really see). He would pick them up in his mouth and make the funniest noises. Sometimes I’d be sitting in the living room and I’d look down and he’d have brought like 12 of them from the bedroom. Anyway, cats who are interested in different textures will like these, and they’re probably small enough to fit in the cat’s mouth (though these are on the large side) but they’re too big to need to worry about them being swallowed.

Vet Pet Box Cat January 2019 Box - Woofie – The Pet Selfie and Portrait Tool Top

Woofie – The Pet Selfie and Portrait Tool – Retail Value $9.50

You put this on your phone and then you put a treat in the top part and it’s supposed to catch your pet’s attention so you can snap a good photo. I think it might be easier with a toy for cats since cat treats are usually pretty small. I got this in the dog version of this box and tried it out with Nyx and it did seem to work for her.

Here are your gratuitous cat photos:

Angus had a lot of fun with the candy cane.

So I was taking photos of another cat and Monkey stuck his face in this bag and walked away with it. (He also liked rubbing his face on the candy cane.)

Sneaky is much more into FOOD than she is into toys.

Mr. Kitty is taking a break from cat subscription box reviews for awhile. He is kind of crusty and oily at the moment because of some ear medicine (he just got over an ear infection) and he’s not really looking his best for photos, though he is in good health (for him) otherwise.

Verdict: I couldn’t calculate a total value for December’s VetPet Box or cats. That’s a little more than $12 over the month-to-month cost of the subscription and is a pretty good deal for a cat subscription box. Highlights for my cats this month were the Yeowww! candy canes and the cat sushi.

To Wrap Up:

Can you still get this box if you sign up today? New subscribers usually get an introductory box. However, if you contact Vet Pet Box, you can get a past month’s box (like say you really want to get the dental one more than once, because your cat has bad teeth).
