Divine Trash Vintage January 2019 Review
The Divine Trash Vintage “Trash Club” is a vintage clothing and accessories subscription that curates one new look (or sometimes two) every month based on your size and preferences. When you sign up, you’ll complete their survey, where you’ll share things like your sizing, height, weight, gender identity, and your personal style. You’ll also see laydowns (like Polyvore boards) of different outfits that you choose between in order to visually show off your taste. You can also share Pinterest boards and write in any other notes you have about what you like to wear. Divine Trash also sends an email shortly after each order arrives, asking for feedback to help them better narrow down your style.
This subscription always sends along a retro matchbook in each package.
Here’s the little note that came with the top. Every month I get a handwritten note like this, full of personality and often with some styling advice thrown in for good measure. I really feel like the folks behind this subscription and I would get along SO well…
Retro Orange & Pink Collared Button Down
This shirt is serving up some serious 70s game show realness! The pattern legit looks like the Match Game logo. And that exaggerated collar? I’m obsessed.
The shirt arrived with the bottom two buttons unbuttoned and the corners of the shirt tied in a cute knot. It looks super cute laying flat, but doesn’t quite work with my body shape (I’ll try it on like this in a pic in just a sec). I imagine if you’ve got a straighter silhouette, then knotting the top could be a cute way to accentuate your waistline, or just create a more blousy look.
I have one or two collared tops but in businessy white or blue—this top, on the other hand, is a true party that could spice up many an outfit. I could see wearing it with a mini or pencil skirt for a bit of late-era-Mad-Men flair, with my favorite pair of dark-wash bell-bottomed jeans on a casual day, or tucked into a classy pair of trousers for a quirky spin on a cocktail hour outfit.
Here it is on and tucked in. Amazing, right?
And here it is out, just so you can see where the hem falls. I think it’s pretty darn flattering.
Did you notice how the sleeves puff just a little bit?
Finally, here’s the look tied up at the bottom. Not the greatest on my body, at least not with these jeans—I need something with a higher waistline I think. I have a shorter A-line skirt in a caramel color that I think would work great with this shirt, especially when it’s tied.
The Verdict: Trash Club is soooo much fun! Not only do the items you get have a ton of personality—the site, the (super helpful) follow-up questionnaires they email you after each shipment, and the notes they send are packed with irreverent humor and sass, too. Know that the looks I’ve gotten from this subscription aren’t for the faint of heart—they’re typically bold or totally out of the ordinary in one way or another. But that’s what makes it so awesome. Thanks to the Trash Club, my closet is full of so many more colorful, unconventional items that I can use to spice up my supply of essentials. If you’re into the quirkier side of vintage, I HIGHLY recommend this subscription!
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? You can definitely subscribe, but what you get will be super unique, both because it’s vintage and because it’s picked specifically for your tastes! According to Divine Trash, Trash Club packages will ship within a week of your charge.
