Scentbird for Women Subscription Review + Coupon – January 2018
Scentbird is a perfume subscription where you choose one fragrance per month. They offer a variety of authentic designer scents and allow you to narrow down by either traditional categories for notes (e.g., floral, woody, spicy, etc.) or more general descriptive terms (e.g., mysterious, classic, flirty). Subscribers also receive a monthly discount code that can be used on full-size bottles of perfume or cologne from the Scentbird shop.

Scentbird January 2019 Review
This month, I received Scentbird’s “Scent of the Month.” You can either opt for the scent of the month or you can fill a queue with fragrances of your choosing:
There was what is basically an advertising flyer for this month’s scent, “Saint” by Kat Von D.
Saint by Kat Von D – Estimated Value $12 (buy 30 mL for $45)
My first thought was: I didn’t know Kat Von D had a fragrance line. My second thought was: is there a “Sinner” fragrance (there is, and it sounds a bit more to my liking – whenever there are fragrance pairs and one is “dark” and one is “light” or some such, it is always the dark one I prefer, e.g. for Versace Crystal Noir and Bright Crystal, the Crystal Noir is my favorite).
Anyway, moving on. This is not bad. I don’t know that I’ll buy a full-size bottle, but I will certainly use up this sample. Base notes are vanilla and musk (yay) as well as cedar (pretty good) and peach (I don’t notice this so much on me). Mid notes are floral, which I am not as much of a fan of: jasmine, almond blossom, and lily of the valley (I am just not a fan of most florals, in general). Top notes are clary sage and mirabelle, neither of which I have a strong opinion about (but in any case, they wear off fairly quickly).
This lasts about the same as any eau de parfum, about half a day for me (maybe a little longer). Sillage is low-to-moderate. In the end, the base notes, especially the vanilla, musk, and cedar, make this work for me, and the florals aren’t super strong. (Do keep in mind that different people’s body chemistries differ and you may pick up some notes a little differently.)
Verdict: The estimated value of my fragrance this month is $12, which is less than the month-to-month cost of the subscription. Your value will depend entirely on what fragrance you choose and if you care to do the math beforehand, you can come out pretty well. For me, though, this is more about discovering fragrances that will work for me, and if they have a bit of a lower value, I can deal with that. I liked this more than I expected and now that I know there is a Sinner fragrance as well, I will be on the lookout for that one.
Please note: Some MSA readers have been having trouble getting their Scentbird shipments on time lately so be sure to read the comments on some of the past reviews to get a sense of what the issues are when making the decision to sign up.
To Wrap Up:
Can you still get this box if you sign up today? Yes, all you have to do is choose this fragrance for your queue.
Value Breakdown: This subscription is $14.95/monthly and this month, I received $12 worth of fragrance (but again, this is highly variable based on what scent or product you choose).
