Every year the perks at Sephora keep shrinking. Only 2 samples instead of 3. Most free gifts that in previous years only required $25 to $35 to qualify for now require $35 or $45. I’m sure there are others I’m missing. I placed about half the number of orders last year compared to the previous year, and I am sure it will drop even more this year. Their Black Friday offerings were extremely underwhelming as well.

Totally agree with you. I used to get nice 3 or 4 pc mini set offers w/25 or 35 purchase every month or 2, now I get more GWP offers, but for 1 item or some foil packets. Kept getting tiny store brand samples in my Play sub, so canceled that, too. My last order was to use my $20 off VIB coupon in November and they canceled my order without notice and said the item was ‘out of stock’ even though I had just received a back in stock email within the hour.
Sad thing is I have some points to use up and there has been virtually nothing of interest in the rewards unless you want some stickers or a dollar store trinket tray. Sephora has just been getting cheap the last few years and now this “luxury” kit is just plain old greed.

and as far as the samples go, why even bother to pick? I NEVER get a sample I pick, they always just send random perfume samples that I would never pick.

Sephora jumped the shark around 2012.

I saw everything in this set and I was like Oooh! And then saw the price point and I gagged. And not in the good way. $45? Y’all really trying huh? I know it’s luxury but damn. Also the play samples are TINY now. Sephora plays that game like.. how much can we cheap out on our customers and still get by?

$45!!!! For that 😂😂😂 now that is funny! Ulta is killing it with sample boxes and Sephora is going down hill. Play boxes suck and you can even get one now for free with purchase.

Easy pass . This is basically and over priced Play Luxe box. WHat the heck? Couldve thrown in a perfume mini in here. Can anyone tell me what was in the most recent play luxe bag? i totally missed it.

Does anybody remember the Chic It Easy set from 2016? Compare to this one.

I bought 3 of those…

This is lame. Of course they’ve probably got a zillion if these for sale, unlike the nicely curated Play Luxe v3…which only 10 people seemed to have been able to purchase. I’m so over Sephora. I’m trying to use up my remaining BI points before I defect totally to Ulta, but they’re releasing so few good rewards that I feel like it will take forever at this point. 😒

At first I was all “oooh, luxury. . . let me order right now” but quickly realized it’s a terrible, overpriced set. The first few Play! Luxe bags were $25 and valued at well over $100. At $45, I’d expect at least one full-size product and a much higher value. This box also has several repeats from previous Play! Luxe bags or were offered as 100 point rewards. I notice that Sephora sets are increasingly getting higher in price/lower in value, while their rewards are really starting to stink. I have so many points banked because the rewards bazaar is rarely stocked or the samples available are so blah. Ulta is eating their lunch!

I agree with all of the above comments. I was interested in trying some of these, until I saw the price tag. Sephora continues to recycle all of its leftovers into other bags/boxes/rewards. Their “curated” sample boxes are disappointing, and many of them have the some of the same products (look at all the Sephora fragrance samplers: you’ll see the same 3-5 fragrances repeated).
I have a lot of Sephora points just waiting for something worthy to use them on… I’ve been waiting for at least 6 months now. Ulta’s reward system is so much better than Sephora’s! I prefer earning $ to put toward whatever I want vs earning points to redeem for a few specific minis. There are only a few items/brands I purchase regularly that are not available at Ulta, but I can buy directly those from their beauty houses and earn better rewards than Sephora’s. I should have known better than to get excited over this.

I agree! Ulta KILLS it with their Beauty Breaks and constant deals. I haven’t purchased from Sephora FOREVER and their Play box is really, really sad. That being said, I think the retail stores are so much nicer to browse than Ulta. But since I shop online way more now, it’s not a problem.

Oh I was excited for a second there- but only a second LOL “full face” yeah idk who wears 3 lip colours when doing their full face! It would have been nice if they would have replaced 2 of the lip colours with something usable when putting on a “full face”

Wait – are you kidding me? Don’t they give those away? What’s happening to Sephora??

Seems quite expensive to me, for what you get. I wanted the Play Luxe version 3 they had a few weeks ago that sold out within minutes, this is a poor substitute.

I’m torn. These aren’t my usual lipstick brands so I’d be trying something new. On the other hand, how small are those samples?

Okay, so I went thorough my purchases list at Sephora and it turns out that I received half of this box in the form of previews samples. I am not sure if the colors of the two remaining lipsticks will work for me so rather than take a chance on small samples, I’ll pass on this box.
I guess that I got caught up for a moment because of the brand names and the fact that I missed out on the Sephora Play Luxe box.

Lol are you kidding me?! Those samples look TINY!!!

They are tiny, especially the lip items. I got the Pat McGrath mini lip kit at the holidays and the sizes are a joke and the formula is not that great, the other lippies are similar in tiny size. This is waaaaay too much for what you get.
