My Fashion Crate December 2018 Review

This information card was included. On the front is information about items included in both the Essentials box and the Premium box, and on the reverse is information about the items included in the Premium box only.

Rose Gold Crimson Chain Choker by Jules Smith – Retail Value $45

This rose gold choker with crystal accents is so gorgeous! It's 13" with a 3" built-in extender, which is handy. Unfortunately, due to my big neck, it was still a little uncomfortable, so I decided to gift it to my niece. She loves it! The double chain is such a unique style.

Crystal Clear Mini Sheet Mask by MaskerAide – Retail Value $5.23 ($7 CAD)

I found this mask a little confusing, to be honest. It has little peel-off gems on a sheet for spot treatments. But, there's no way to use them except all at once unless you devise your own means of keeping the sheet and the mask substance fresh/together somehow. It is supposed to help brighten and clarify, but I found it all a bit messy, to be honest. Sheet masks are messy enough without trying to maneuver spot treatment stickers!

Cute "Hope" Pouch by Riah Fashion – Retail Value $25

This is a really cool little makeup bag, and the trim is real cork! It feels and looks really cool. I like the design a lot! It's a good size for a travel toiletries bag.

Winter Knit Beret - Listed Value $30

It's that time of year! This is an acrylic blend, super soft knit beret. I don't think I have ever had a white one before, but I kind of like it!

Holiday Plaid Skort – Listed Value $48

I was pretty surprised to see a lightweight, unlined, super short skort in a December box. I am not comfortable wearing short shorts in the summer, so I am certainly not interested in wearing them in the winter. I think the idea is to wear it with tights, but I don't have nice legs anyway, so this was a bit of a bust for me.

Winter Wonderland Shirt - Listed Value $35

To go with the summer skort, My Fashion Crate included this extremely tight, double v-neck tee shirt. I'm not sure what makes it Winter Wonderland except that maybe I would wear it under a sweater? I had hoped that last month was the start of appropriate seasonal fashion in this subscription, but it does not seem to be so. I have to admit, I'm pretty disappointed. I also think the box for misses sizes is definitely more seasonally appropriate - it looks like the plus box is getting a bad deal.

Verdict: This was a mixed bag from My Fashion Crate this month. I have so far had a good experience with them, but this box was disappointing. The clothes are too small and meant for the heat of summer, so I am not happy about that. The accessories are mostly great except for the mask, which some people may like, it just wasn't for me. I hope next month is better!

Oh my word! This is shameful! The nerve!
I hope they do better next month, because this is just pitiful.
But I agree that the hat looks cute on you, Anna!

I think I would have cried if I had paid for this box. I hope a rep for this box sees your more-polite-than-I-would-be review Anna and the comments here. Even the beautiful choker is not thought out well for the plus size subscribers. The outfit reminds me of an attempt to pull off a Clueless inspired Halloween costume, which would include the beret. That is exactly what someone was thinking when they put this together. I do appreciate someone trying to put a cohesive outfit together, but they failed miserably.

I wouldn’t completely dismiss this box, but if it’s targeted toward anyone other than plus sized juniors in southern California, where I am, then it seems like a complete miss. Here we can wear thin shirts and short skirts, and the colors are on trend, but we’re definitely not too concerned about keeping warm, and the clothes being too small is disappointing, but would make more sense for juniors clothing at least. Maybe I’m trying too hard to defend it. I’m sorry it was such a bust.

Also, listing such high values on thin clothing is ridiculous. I don’t mind thin clothing, but I don’t pay as much for it as I do for thicker, higher quality clothing.

I guess it depends on where you’re at it’s 70 here right now but cold at night. I don’t get sending summer weight in winter but Wantable always sent me heavy winter clothes that aren’t really usable most of the year.

Wow. It’s very obvious that zero thought went into the procurement of this box. A 13 inch necklace, thin tshirt, and short shorts in a plus size winter box? That they have the nerve to call that tee a winter piece and the skirt a holiday plaid is offensive. The listed prices are a joke as well. I would have sent the box back. This might be the worst box i have ever seen.

I don’t understand those spot treatment masks either. I have received a few in boxes lately and don’t really see the point. Agree that the clothing choices are not at all seasonally appropriate. But the white beret looks very pretty contrasted with your dark hair.

The way the model is wearing the skort with a tiny top and bare legs is certainly not winter friendly. It’s like they decided to call it “holiday plaid” just to have something to go in this box!
